A popular fan theory is that during the opening ceremony at the beginning of the U.A. Sports Festival, Bakugo purposefully said that to rile up everyone so they try their hardest to beat him. Bakugo will never accept a win without the opposing side trying their hardest.

My personal theory is that Bakugo's quirk is in two parts, based directly on his parents quirks. He sweats a glycerin type substance, like his mother. But his hands can emit nitric acid, like his father. Red Fuming Nitric Acid is highly reactive, so, glycerin-like sweat + RFNA == BIG BOOM. We make ROCKET ENGINES that run on a mix like this. We call this a hypergolic reaction.

Bakugo could be sweating just a slightly larger amount than a normal human. the LIKE part of nitroglycerine-like sweat means Bakugo's sweat could be more powerful than nitroglycerine, probably a couple times more powerful.

I was rewatching this and realized… He could also have hyperhidrosis where he excessively sweats through the palms of his hands, especially since sweating caused by hyperhidrosis is typically unrelated to over exertion or exercise 🤔

Hello! There might already be a theory about this, but I came up with something and I'd like to know what people think. (**Slight manga spoilers**) If you look at a picture of Shigaraki online, he has shoes practically identical to Izuku's. I have had a theory/headcanon for a long time that Izuku wears his famous red shoes because they’re the only shoes that fit him- you know, the whole extra toe joint thing. But what if Shigaraki wears the same shoes because HE has an extra toe joint? What if Shigaraki used to be quirkless, and AFO gave him his disintegration quirk without Shigaraki’s knowledge to push him closer to villainy? It would give AFO the perfect ammunition against All Might, to have his mentors grandson be his enemy, and it would also explain why Tomura got his quirk late (the backstory’s in the manga, I’ll spoil as little for you as I can). It makes canonical sense, and it works. To add to this, quirklessness is rare, but it’s even more likely that quirklessness has a hereditary element to it (hence the quirk doctor from the start asking Inko if she was a fourth-generation quirk user). And who else in this series is born quirkless? Izuku Midoriya. This makes it more likely that Shigaraki and Izuku are related. And because we know (it has been confirmed) that Shigaraki is Nana Shimura’s grandson, I would like to draw attention to Inko Shimura theory. In this theory, Nana had two children, possibly twins- one boy and one girl. After she died, the two children were separated (maybe they went to an orphanage or a foster home, or maybe they got adopted, who knows). On an unrelated point, this theory also actually explains Inko’s reluctance to allow Izuku to become a hero, as her mother died in a fight against AFO. This would mean that Izuku is Nana Shimura’s grandson. …Which would also mean that Tenko Shimura (Tomura Shigaraki) and Izuku Midoriya are cousins. Because of the whole Dabi = Touya Todoroki theory, we know that Horikoshi is willing to put this kind of twist into the story. And from the direction that the manga is going, we could soon run into some of OFA’s old allies, who might give more evidence to this theory (or, alternatively, disprove it entirely). This theory may not be true, but it is certainly possible, and there are some parts of it (like the quirkless Shigaraki part) that could be true without the whole thing being correct. You're forgetting one important aspect of nitroglycerin: it smells like burnt sugar. Thus, bakugo smells like caramel glory everytime he sweats.

as much as i love this theory. i think a more "realistic" theory is that his nitroglycerin like sweat just expands waaaaay more than 1200 times its original size. ofc i dont want to do the math but i feel its a much better way to think the quirk works than having katsuki sweat swimming pools of sweat

Idk if you know this but he has a secondary use of his quirk that comes from his dad, and it's that he can sweat on command. He can also choose where to sweat when he sweats on command. So he is not constantly sweating that much, its just when he is blowing things up. His mom also has a sweat quirk, she can sweat some kind of other material. I forget what it was, but it was also kind of dangerous. So baku's dad and mums quirk combined and mutated a little and we have baku's quirk.

So you're trying to make sense in an anime where most of the humanity has insane superpowers like shooting lazer beams from *ss and creating anti-gravity just by touching?

The anime states that he produces a *nitroglycerin-like substance* not one identical to it. Wouldn't that mean his sweat had similar functions as nitroglycerin but possibly at a different scale? If that's true, then there is a chance that only a small amount of his sweat could produce an explosion much larger than a nitroglycerin one. So technically he doesn't need to sweat a sea every time he uses his quirk. Along with this, the fandom also states that, 'The more Katsuki sweats, the stronger his explosions become.' That implies that the size along with the intensity of his explosions increases the more he sweats (I'm not sure if this affects anything but I still felt like I should mention that point).

But people, Bakugou just had to perfect at everything and his sweat smells like burnt caramel. Like, this boy is always smelling like a candystore

well, bakugo has also anger issues and sometimes when I’M mad, i also start to sweat af. maybe the anger helps him to start the explosions, because he’s sweaty👹. so he can have a start and then because of more sweat, the explosions are bigger.

It’s possible Kacchan’s Quirk can control his sweat production

It explains why he is constantly making small explosions in his hands to "Threat" other people, while it is told he can activate his explosions at will, at i am not sure if this goes for his whole Quirk including the sweat, so suposing that he can somehow control how much he sweats, he would still need to get rid of the nitroglicerin-like substance in his hands because you are not telling me that bakugou can decide if he sweats or no. Maybe he actually can, but it would be funny if his small "Threatening" explosions are a result of him trying to not explode his homework by accidentally leaving nitroglicerin in it.

Don’t forget that he actually has two quirks one that turns his sweat to like nitroglycerin and the other to keep his body temp from being too cold that the nitroglycerin from decomposing, so atleast 140 f to 424 f to make it actually explode.

A good way to measure the power each drop of sweat has is to take a look at the first film, where several distinct drops of his nitro-sweat are visible on a villain’s palm before it is detonated to create a massive explosion. My bet is that his sweat is much more potent than nitroglycerin, with each drop packing a much bigger punch than real nitroglycerin so a smaller amount of sweat is required to make the massive explosions we see on the show :)

You're forgetting one thing: the amount of sweat that he produces would be physically impossible and would eventually kill him, BUT there's a workaround. Instead of producing more sweat, his sweat could just be more explosive. He did say it was LIKE Nitroglycerin but never specified the conditions of that similarity. If he sweats the same amount as anyone else, that makes a single drop of his sweat insanely powerful.

Bakugou’s aggressive attitude is because if he doesn’t feel adrenaline constantly, he will faint or even pass out because nitroglycerin slows down the heart so the adrenaline keeps his heart beating to and average speed. So his “anger issues” actually keep him conscious

You forgot to include the fact that kids get their quirks from their parents. He got the nitroglycerin part from his dad. But he got the ability to secrete as much as he wanted, at will, from his mom. This means that he’s not *constantly* sweating & that he can produce a huge amount because his mom’s side of the quirk lets him. His dad can’t do this because he can only blow up his sweat as it naturally comes out. Just wanted to clear that up.

I think the reason for his training isn't to increase the amount of sweat he can make, but to increase the Potency of the sweat he makes.

well he sweats at will, and e dosent actully smell sweaty at all he would actully have a carmally scent because of the nitroglycerin. and Kurogiri isnt made of the fog, he simply uses it to teleport all of his body except his neck (he uses the shield on his neck to hide it) to be able to protect himself more

Nitroglycerine-LIKE, therefore there is a chance that the sweat explodes better, which would dial down your calculations. (also sweats on command, and I believe only on his hands)

Katsuki's (Kacchan) *mom* has a quirk that enables her to sweat nitroglycerin at will, while his *father* on the other hand has a quirk that can make him produce acidic sweat with explosive properties, although he can't produce sweat at will, meaning he sweats like a normal person. With that being said, Kacchan is also a hybrid like Todoroki, since Kacchan can produce sweat at his own will (a quirk from his mother) and make that sweat explosive (from his father). MatPat's theory: Kacchan has to produce a lot of sweat until it becomes explosive (At least that's how I understood it...) But my point is that Kacchan doesn't really sweat a lot as the video says as to how much nitroglycerin is needed to make his sweat explode. Since his sweat itself is already explosive, he can make even a tiny little drop of his sweat explode. Which means that his mother's quirk is useful because it will allow him to make more explosions, and his father's quirk is useful because it can make sweat, even if it's just a little bit, explode. So it's more like that his mother's quirk was a power up for his father's quirk.
