The 13th Filmfare Awards were held in 1966 .
Himalaya Ki God Mein and Waqt led the ceremony with 7 nominations each, followed by Kaajal with 6 nominations, Arzoo with 5 nominations and Khandan with 4 nominations.
The ceremony was notable as Meena Kumari set a record for the most wins for Best Actress at Filmfare, winning her 4th award for Kaajal.
Waqt won 5 awards, including Best Director (for Yash Chopra) and Best Supporting Actor (for Raaj Kumar), thus becoming the most-awarded film at the ceremony.
Raaj Kumar received dual nominations for Best Supporting Actor for his performances in Kaajal and Waqt, winning for the former.

@@rakeshsadeo It all started when Naushad got award in 1954 for 1952 movie Baiju Bawra although it deserved award but why in 1954

@@muntazirmehdi14512 FF Award ceremony would be held in March-April usually. Nomination forms would be published between Jan and March issue of FF. Readers were supposed to fill the form i.e. they were supposed to vote. Not all films would be released all over India by Jan. of the year if they were released in previous year Nov-Dec. So not everyone from all cities of India would get chance to watch the movie and vote. That's why we find disparities.

Loved the episode. I personally feel Waqt was the Amar Akbar Anthony of 1960s. Same theme of a couple and their three children separated as children and how the twists of events eventually reunite them. One of the best entertaining films of that era and also the first commercial multistarrer film that invented the multistarrer genre, which didn't really become common until the mid-70s. Most awards were deserving, but Nutan deserved best actress award for khandaan. And haqeeqat also deserved more awards. Overall great information rakesh bhai.

I am glad that you started this new series about filmfare awards of 50s and 60s again, however we are also missing your actor+ singer combination episodes. We still want more like Amitabh bachchan+ kishore kumar, and many other actor and singer combinations that you are yet to make. Please continue that as well. And also actress + singer combinations as well.

Rakesh ji I have watched these movies of 1965 Aarzoo, Gumnaam , Teen Devian , waqt, Kaajal, Bahu Beti , Jaanwar, Guide , Khandaan , Jab Jab phool khile, the best music award should have Gone to Either SD Burman for Guide or Kalayanji Anandji for Jab Jab phool khile but they were not even nominated also OP Nayyar had brilliant music score for Mere sanam whose song Pukarta chalaa hoon main by Mohammed Rafi sahab is my all-time favourite it was not also nominated. Ravi had another superhit album Kaajal, Roshan had good songs in Bahu Begum. SJ had many superhit albums this year Gumnaam , Aarzoo and Jaanwar . KA had also Superhit songs in Himalaya ki God mein. RD Burman did great music in Bhoot Bangla . Chitragupt composed some fantastic songs in Oonche log like Jaag dil e deewana and in Akashdeep. But this year was not good for LP . Madan Mohan had good songs in Neela Akash. Prem Dhawan compoded an evergreen album Shaheed , Khyyam had good songs in Mohabbat isko kehte hain. Usha Khanna also composed superhit songs in Ek sapera ek lutera. SD Burman had another fantastic album Teen Devian of which Khawab ho tum ya koi Haqeeqat is my all' time favourite kishore kumar song. I really liked movies like Guide, Aarzoo, Khandaan, Gumnaam and waqt, Jab jab phool khile.

Yes you are right..it proves Filmfare Awards were never accurate from beginning 👍👍..guide Hindi version was released in 1966 so guide won many awards next year.. you must be aware of the fact that s d Burman refused to pay money for award so Shankar jaikishan got it for Suraj.. please check special episodes about guide at my channel 👍👍

@muntazirmehdi7326 not always false..awards were big gane..khandan had weakest music of this year nominations..but Ravi got it..there are many examples.. SJ were great music directors but big manipulators and then LP followed them.. this is long long discussion.lets not waste time on it but the fact is Filmfare awards were not genuine always 👍

Yadien sounds like an interesting watch. Some movies are fairly good, Wagt, Arzoo, Gumnaam , but most of these movies were heavily melodramatic and old fashion with too many crying heroes. It is clear to see why Rajesh Khanna was such a pathbreaker and such a huge star. He was a much more modern in his persona and much more natural in his acting. Aside from his charm and great looks he brought a fresh sense to Indian cinema. These type of super melodramatic family dramas were getting too stale.

Rakesh bhai aap ke jariye ek aur behtareen video dekhne ko mila👍👍 Sab kuchh thik hi tha but Guide jaisi film ka jikra takna hona achraj me daalta hai. Filmfare award shuru se partiality karte hi rahe hain isme koi shaq nahin hai. Haqiqat jaise behtareen film ko bhi ignore kiya gaya. Aap ki detailing aur narration hamesha ki tarha hi Lajawaab rahi Rakesh bhai 🙏🙏

The best film of the year was "Haqeeqat" and it was largely ignored. The filmfare awards were not professionally managed. And gradually they lost credibility.

Episode achcha laga rakesh ji, par ek cheez samaj me nahin aayi. Waqt film me Raj Kumar ke opposite koi heroine kyun nahin thi? Sadhana was paired opposite sunil dutt and sharmila togore was paired opposite shashi kapoor but raj kumar was just side lined as a part of love triangle between sunil dutt and sadhana. I felt bad for him when in the climax sunil dutt ends up with sadhana and shashi kapoor ends up with sharmila tagore and raj kumar was left alone. 😢 😢. They should have cast one more actress opposite raj kumar to make it more happy ending in the climax just like amar akbar anthony. What do you think?

Pairing with the heroine dilutes the impact of character in these kinds of stories . Raj Kumar had best role among all three..this was copied in yaadon ki barat also..

@rakeshsadeo you are right about raj kumar having the best role, but I wonder why he was not top billed in the cast credits. Sunil dutt got top billed even though sunil dutt was junior to raj kumar who was his senior in film industry as well as he played younger brother to raj kumar in this film. Any reason?

@harryjosh9088 no specific reason but i think the prints available on you tube are altered for opening titles.. we'll have to find the original old print somewhere to check what was there.. these are upgraded by nh studios
