Justin Brown is the first person to talk as fast as he does and I can totally understand him and he has a little bit of an accent to boot. I am deaf in one ear and partially in the other and people that talk fast I usually can NOT understand. Thank you Justin for not being a sloppy talker!
Justin, no hype, that was one of the best tutorials for a fairly complex subject I've ever seen. Great visuals, very clear. Really enjoyed learning that. Thank you so much. Bought the Cinematographers kit because of you. Thank you!
I had just filmed a hotel room orientation for work and was a bit upset at the shaky b roll I captured. Then you go ahead and mention the stabilization and I realize I had completely forgotten about it and now I will need to re shoot everything. I was happy for the reminder but sad that I had forgotten! So thanks Justin!
figuring out that the remote app can sync to my phone is a game changer. I do a lot of sports filming and I can mount this up high now and use my ipad to control it! Something I wish Apple would’ve done already considering how many people use their iPhones to film! Thank you Justin! Appreciate this a lot.
For a total newbie - one of the major issues with shooting on the phones, especially indoors, is the small sensor size and resulting poor video quality from insufficient light. I would love to see a tutorial on what settings you could use in Filmic Pro to address specifically this issue - maximize the available light to get the best possible video out of that tiny sensor.
thank you for all your informative videos Can you show us how to fade in and fade out music I can’t seem to figure this part out I use my iPhone 11 Pro Max to film and edit and everything ☺️☺️ it’s doing the job for now planning on getting a canon dslr down the road I’ll have to search through your videos and see which camera you recommend...THANK YOU
Great update thank you. I've used this for a while on my Samsung S8 and love it. Upgraded recently to the S20+ and found some of the cinematography kit settings don't work yet. (email confirmation from FilmicPro confirmed as such). Everything works at 1080p, but anything above that isn't supported. Hoping Samsung come to the party with a fix. Not a showstopper for me and still use my S8 with Filmicpro for all my filming anyway :)
Filmic is definitely one of the best for camera control . I would like some additional aperature control to simulate more bokeh (for phones that can ) to be able to blur the background and keep attention on the subject . Great review and tutorial ! 👏
In the newest version the exposure is controlled with a circle reticle. I guess people were getting confused with the focus reticle looking the same as the exposure reticle. Thanks for the great tutorial. It was very helpful.
I shoot puppet videos in my tiny shed and the Filmic Remote app is invaluable, as I can’t see or get to the iphone screen in the shooting position. It also saves my poor old knees and back. Great content, thanks.
Just got this app today. Your tutorial has made using it possible for me! However, my version now has two shapes in the center of the field--a square focus box and a circle that I can't figure out. Any help for using these? Thanks for your great tutorial!
Thanks for this. I plan to invest in this. Have just upgraded to Samsung s20 + I assume its compatible. If u have time to answer. I plan to add ext mic. TRRS . So need splitter. Is this correct? Tx mate.
cool video... question: how can I get my I phone 11 pro to get the same lay out as yours, meaning: time code and the volume plus displaying the resolution on the top left.. etc. I have the rest of all the features but I can not get the ones I mentioned before. Also my shutter speed option does not let me go lower than "60" ... do I ned the 12 Max or Pro to be able to get those "features"? thanks!
Love the video! Very informative and fuss-free. I am a newbie in the world of vlogging. I have OSMO Mobile 3 and an iPhone 7+. I saw from your video that FiLMic Pro has an option/connection to OSMO Mobile 1 & 2 but none for M3. Can I still use it to improve my setup? Do you have a tutorial or something to configure it as well?
I just got the IPhone 12 Pro Max and was looking for an app to make videos and found this video. I’m going to give it a try and see if I can figure it out. Thanks
I also like the manual memory function sections. Meaning as example you can same different zoom levels or focus levels to recall automatically. Amazing app.
Wow ... great overview. A couple questions: 1) What are your fav Android phones for shooting video? 2) Could you use an iPad to remotely monitor your Android phone?
Hey mate, hope you're well! 1) I'm a Samsung fan.. 2) In my testing, Filmic Remote wouldn't work across android and iphone/ipad, I hope the add that feature in soon.
Hi Justin, Great video! 12 months ago I decided not to use this App because of the overheating problem, though I am aware that there is so much going on within the App that causes this. Is the heating problem any less with the latest version, or is the overheating always going to be there? Many thanks
This is great. So for the remote function do you have to buy both the Pro and Remote for your filming phone AND your remote device or do you buy them both for just your filming phone or Pro for the filming phone and remote for the remote device?
You should have the same account on both devices and just download the remote app on your device you want to use as the remote and Filmic Pro on your "camera" device 👍 hope that helps!
Hello,... thanks for that video. It gives a nice overview for this amazing app. There are two things open: 1.) What about this two Letters „FQ“ in the left side of black frame, followed by „299m“ sometimes other value. 2.) What about these 3 dots between ISO and Shutter if the left wheel (exposure) is shown? Regards from Germany Juergen
Hi Justin, very helpful App as always. Can the Filmic remote be used on the Apple series 7 watch to control Filmic Pro on the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max. Many thanks Terry Davis
I downloaded this months ago using your affiliate link and love it. When I have used filmic remote on 2 occasions my iPhone 8 Plus had overheated and shut down, these were 10 min indoor videos, do you know why that would be?
Thanks for the information! Short and informative. Question though - do you know if this can be used across the two platforms? I have an iPad and a Android phone... not sure if I can have the pro on one device and use the remote app on the other and it will work.
Hi does the remote control app on the secondary device have to have a SIM card installed ie a working device? And secondary does the 1hr, 2hr etc etc mean that we are purchasing user-time on the secondary device and once the hour is up for example. We can't use the secondary device until we make another purchase? Sorry when I looked at the advertisement for this it wasn't very clear what I was purchasing!
Wow! Pretty awesome. Will look onto it once I purchase a better cellphone. Currently shooting all my vids on a Samsung A12 32GB storage and 3GB memory; too small.
Is it possible to use my Filmic Pro on my Android note 9 and use remote control on my iPad? Of do I need an Android tablet? I like the idea of being able to monitor and make changes to the phone camera with a monitor rather than reaching across to the phone. Thank you for your time.
Thank you for a good tutorial. Currently I use a simple Remote widget (hardware) to control start/stop of recording on my iPhone SE 2020. Will it still work when I install FilMic Pro? Or this FilMic app takes full control over the camera and my remote widget will not work anymore?
Not sure which remote widget you have, but I just got a bluetooth start/stop remote with my tripod I got off of Amazon, and fortunately it does indeed work with FilMic Pro
Should I use the native camera app on my S22 or Filmic pro if I want to get my first gimbal? I know gimbal buttons + there house apps are limited to Android. If I used a gimbal, Samsung and filmic would this be good enough? Or would the gimbal and native camera be enough with the S22? Help please 🙏!
Thanks Justin! Another great vid! I have been using the front facing camera so I can see the shot while recording but it sounds like the remote feature will allow me to use the rear camera and still see on a second device. Awesome!
I’m very interested in Filmic pro for my iPhone 12 Pro Max and your tutorial here is pushing me towards its purchase (I have just purchased this app); can I then export to Wondershare Filmora X for post processing the video? Also I see that it’s possible to set up using the DJI OSMO; the DJI comes with its own software ~ will the DJI permit the use of the Filmic Pro software ; does the gimbal then still work just as well? (Sorry but outing into a brief comment sooo many questions here
Thanks for doing the work on this Justin I was trying to find the time/motivation to look into which App to buy. Having seen this explanation (and my, how high are your production values!) I am a Filmic Pro user from tomorrow! Big fan of the channel, thanks for your help KP (Oh and can we have Harry Kewell back if you have finished with him, I reckon coaching role with LFC would suit us just fine...)
Very cool. Thank you for the tutorial. If we use a color grade, will we record with the color grade? I would like to record flat but use a log as a preview only. Is that possible?
Hey, love your videos, always been a fan, they're so helpful for someone starting RU-vid, like me. Could you please ro a tutorial on How To Edit On Hitfilm Express? Please!!
Thanks Amritha! Best bet for this one is our beginner editing tutorials to check out the actual editing process we use that you can then apply to any editing software. Hope that helps!
Hi Justin, Found this really informative, thank you! I am having some difficulties with the app, I bought the FiLMiC Pro & Remote app today - but I’m having trouble with it focusing, I want it to focus on me and blur my background - can you help at all?! Recording on iPhone XS Max and remote on IPad Pro. Chloe
Hi Justin, I am a UK viewer of your videos which are great! You do a lot of videos about FiLMic Pro, but I have been hesitant to acquire it because of the comments about the overheating issue. I have just purchased an iPhone 2 Pro Max. Do you know if this issue still persists, or am I being too cautious? Many thanks
Thanks for the tutorial. I have a question, why my screen on Filmic pro is showing slow motion of the action (it means action what actors doing showing on the screen a bit later) I tried different frame rate also but didn’t work. Appreciate your help. Thanks. 🙏🏻
Question! I have a pretty small room to film in, so I use the wide lens on my iPhone 12 mini! I use filmic pro as well. My question is this! If I purchased a clip on (or whatever) external wide lens and placed it over the standard camera, would I be able to get the depth of field on it? I only ask as I know you can’t do this with the ultra wide camera setting in Filmic pro.
Hello: Thank you for this great tutorial. I might have missed it, but could you share if this can be used with the front camera and if so how can I set it up for that.
Thanks for this great video! 1 question before I pay for this app: will I be able to switch between rear and front cameras quickly, on the fly, *while recording*?
I wanted to download this app on my Android phone but per Android Play, this app doesn't seem to do very well :( it has a star rating of 3.3 out of 5 with a purchase price of 14.99$. You made this app tutorial sooo informative, and easy to maneuver.
Great Video...Is there an App for the LG V40 that can edit color grade for the HDR video that it can record? In short I love the phone but no way to combine clips and export in HDR. I am thinking of going with the Iphone 12 Pro Max and using imovie because it can do all the above...unless there is an Android App that will do the same...LG V40 won't use RUSH even side loaded .. :( Thanks Again
Hey! super great tutorial! thanks! I'm wondering... is it possible to save all settings (such as exposure, focus, colours)? The thing is, a client is going to be recording several videos using the exact same position, in a closed room (always same conditions), but she's going to set the camera everytime by herself. I'd like to pre-adjust all parameters for her and save them, so that she only has to set that saved settings, and start recording. Thanks in advance!
I'm getting a new phone in a couple of weeks and am curious if the app once purchased is transferrable to a new device? Or would I have to puchase it again for the new device? Thank You for another excellent informational video!!!
Great job Justin i recently started posting a cooking videos on my channel and your advice worked really good specially how to use Davinci Resolve 16 for my editing part.
The tutorial was great and I am ready to get the Filmic Pro app, cinematographer kit and the remote, but I can not find it in the Google Play App Store. I have two androids that I want to dedicate to this, one to use for remote and one for the filming. The one I am using for filming I can only find the remote in the app store, and not the filmic pro app or cinematographer kit. The other phone I can't find either in the app store. The newer phone that I just got...Samsung Galaxy to use for shooting, is the one that only shows the Filmic Remote in the App store. Any suggestions?
Hi, two questions, if I may. 1. Would this app be a waste on my current iPhone 7 (I do plan to upgrade later). 2. How is it for still photography. Thanks!
Hey! This would still work great on your iPhone 7 as it would help you use all the best settings on your phone. And as for photos, it doesn't take photos but check out our best camera apps video to see more options 👍
