As someone who's studying film you pretty much got it all right, the proper term for the clarity/blurriness you were talking about is called pull focus, at least I think that's what you mean - where you can either have the foreground (i.e your face) or the background in focus and everything else a really soft sort of unfocused. That's always my favourite lens because it's just so beautiful on camera, you could be shooting anything and it's look amazing in that lenses. I really wish I had one of my own but I'll just have to deal with using my sixth forms until I have money :) Also, I've been really loving your blogs since you've started the again! I'm so glad you're so happy :) You always make me laugh whatever video you do, I just really like the kind of person you are and your pov of the world xx
