The repercussions of this incident rippled beyond the vessel itself, as pollution from the 35,000-tonne behemoth threatened the delicate ecosystem surrounding Ichaboe Island. Nearby marine life and seabirds suddenly found themselves at risk, highlighting the profound impact of maritime accidents on the environment.
