Dennis Hopper & Peter Fonda Movie "EASY RIDER" -[A landmark counterculture film], is a Must Watch! -it is a 1969 American independent drug culture road drama film. Written/Produced by Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, and Terry Southern*=(*Writ but didn't co-produce) * Fonda and Hopper play two bikers who travel through the American Southwest and South, carrying the proceeds from a cocaine deal. The success of Easy Rider helped spark the New Hollywood era of filmmaking during the early 1970s. * A landmark counterculture film, and a "touchstone for a generation" that "captured the national imagination," Easy Rider explores the societal landscape, issues, and tensions towards adolescents in the United States during the 1960s, such as the rise of the hippie movement, drug use, and communal lifestyle.

I love Speed! Its been a while since I watched it, but it was one of my favorites from the 90s as well. So much stunts and action you don't see in movies today like you were saying at the end of this video. Dennis Hopper is definitely my favorite in this movie as well and he was an actor who sadly didn't get as much recognition as other stars. Dennis Hopper also happen to play King Koopa in the chessy Super Mario Bros. The Movie along with Bob Hoskins playing Mario and John Leguizamo playing Luigi. If your looking for any action movies Chuck Norris in Invasion U.S.A has that Golan Globus style going. Anything with Chuck Norris back then is a win-win when it comes to action. If your not familiar Golan Globus studios they did all kinds of action pack movies in the 80s. 😃 ( They also did the live action Master Of the Universe Movie then as well with Dolph Lundgren ) Although technically an action film I recommend is the Dish Wish movies staring Charles Bronson are awesome for there time. The first three are really good and the last two are okay. ( Not that recent Bruce Willis remake. No disrespect to Mr. Willis. I just prefer the old school ones. The remake was okay, but it wasn't the same.) Another 90s movie that does have some action but more of a thriller per say is: Falling Down staring Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall Its a movie of what happens when someone has had a very very bad day and blames the everyone but himself with his personal problems. Hope you put these movies on your list and get to check em out sometime. Thanks as always for your time! Keep up the awesome work!

I love that the characters on the bus actually have distinct personalities. A lesser script would have just brushed over them completely, but if we don't care about these people then we don't care if they get blown up or not. Speed really is a perfect movie for what it is.

Personally, I 100% credit this film with Keanu's career as an action star. John Wick did wonders, but Speed really got his foot in the door when it comes to that specific genre of film.
@AceCorban
@AceCorban Год назад
Point Break is another great Keanu action flick from the 90s. The Mythbusters actually managed to jump a city bus 50 feet to test this scene out, though they had to set up a ramp (which is sorta implied in the movie with the stack of wood, even though it's not there in the approaching shot). Needless to say, the bus got jacked up and wouldn't have been able to run for much longer after. Also, the company of the plane that the bus crashes into "Pacific Courier Freight" is the same company as the van the villains used to get into Nakatomi in Die Hard. So both movies are in the same universe!
@przemekkozlowski7835
@przemekkozlowski7835 Год назад
This is definitely a movie where you have to suspend your knowledge of physics :). A lot of the driving stuff is doable in real life but would bleed off too much speed and cause the bus to explode. You cannot maintain that kind of speed while you are hitting stationary objects.

The thing that makes 90’s action untouchable for me is that it was all practical stunts and explosions. Controlled, but practical. It’s why action movies were a true spectacle and action stars actually meant something
@andarporbuenosaires
@andarporbuenosaires Год назад
I love 90s action movies, real things were destroyed, and as you can see Nolan was not the first to destroy a real plane, in SPEED a plane and a bus exploded, and in FACE OFF a real plane crashed against a hangar, In the movie THE FUGITIVE, they crashed a real train into a bus and then derailed that train, in a truly impressive scene to watch, In LETHAL WEAPON 3 as in DEMOLITION MAN, they collapsed real multi-story buildings in scenes..In these modern times, that art of filming real scenes has been lost and CGI is used a lot and it's not the same, you can tell when something isn't real and it loses its charm.

This was such a sleeper hit in 1994. It was hard to imagine "Ted" from Bill and Ted's Excellent adventure being a leading man-action star. He had done a couple others but never as the lead, but so many people were surprised when Keanu Reeves turned into a leading man over night. One of the most 90's of 90's movies ever! I don't think it was a "sleeper" at all, it made $350mil on a $30mil budget, and was a blockbuster success that won awards. IMO, the 'sleeper' was "Blown Away" with Jeff Bridges, Forrest Whittaker, and Tommy Lee Jones. It came out that same year; released a month later; and it barely made it's money back. Rumor is that they rushed Speed into theaters because they wanted to beat Blown Away to release. I guess people didn't like TLJ as a ranting and raving Irish terrorist and singing along with U2 music playing in the background, but I thought the acting and plot were 10x more interesting.

Dennis Hopper is a rare example of an actor who, once he becomes well known, doesn't care at all about being liked by the audience. Most movie stars want to play sympathetic characters, or at least to defuse villainy with humor or with a relatable excuse for their behavior. But Hopper will just be straight-up despicable, as with Speed and Blue Velvet.
@TTM9691
@TTM9691 Год назад

I tend to lean toward 1985 with Commando to 1995 with Die Hard with a Vengeance. Regardless, what an awesome time for action cinema across the world. (and "Apocalypse Now", and "True Romance", etc.....also "The River's Edge", which was Keanu's first movie! Hopper is great in that, too!). He was also a groundbreaking director with "Easy Rider" (which is what made Jack Nicholson famous). Not just any reactor could do "Easy Rider", but you DEFINITELY could! Both Nicholson and Hopper are great in that movie. He was a wild, wild guy (in case you can't tell!) and he was pretty much blacklisted for a couple of decades; "Blue Velvet" really brought back his career and he was in lots of high profile stuff after that. Definitely one of the TOP action movies. Keanu and Sandra brought their A game. You need to check out Point Break with Keanu and Patrick Swayze. It's a different kind of action movie - but a fantastic one. You'd LOVE it. Cheers from Canada! :)

that roller coaster with a bomb on it is a great idea, they should make a Speed 3 like that.

I love the optimism of James saying you'd just get a couple of bruses and concusion from jumping of a bus at 50mph!

Fun fact, both Keanu and Sandra later admitted to having crushes on one another during filming. But both remained professional.

"How do they have this much money?" 😄 It was the 90s, James. The success of Die Hard really paved the way this kind of action movie, and we saw a lot of movies that were basically Die Hard on a bus, Die Hard on a ship, on a plane, on a train, and so on back then.

Dennis Hopper always makes a great villain. Blue velvet, this movie, waterworld, ... and I'm drawing a blank on what else. But yea he was good in those lol

12 buses were used to portray 1 picture bus. Some for inside shots, stunts, explosions, the bus jump & a processed bus used for the scenes underneath. The intro & scenes with the elevator shaft & the subway car passing through the Hollywood Station construction site & going up unto Hollywood Blvd were all miniature setups to make it look as real as possible

I already commented on a different post, but yeah that broken road scene is kinda messed up. The roads are practically level and they had ramps installed to do the stunt for the movie wherever they shot it. That's why the bus looked like it was at a 40 degree angle when it took off LOL.

If I remember correctly, Sandra Bullock had a crush on Keanu but was too nervous to tell him during/after filming. Keanu felt the same way. Neither of them found out about the other feeling that way until years and years later.
