To clarify some lore stuff: - In the first video, the lich king is Arthas Menthil, a human paladin that "turned to the dark side" and became the lich king, ruler of the undead wielding a extremely overpowered sword called frostmoure. Frostmourne has the ability to emprison the spirit of the fallen and turn these fallen into minions of the lich king. Sylvanas Windrunner was killed by Arthas and raised as banshee into his service before breaking free. Arthas was defeated and frostmourne was shattered, but without their master the undead would run amok and kill anything and everything, so a new guy wore the helm of dominion and is now the new lich king (The fiery former paladin Bolvar Fordragon). Bolvar was a human paladin that was almost killed during the first encounter with Arthas but then was burned by dragon fire to be purified hence his affinity to fire. - In the last video, Sylvanas is fighting Bolvar, the new lich king, which pales in comparison to the power of the former amazingly powerful Arthas Menethil. In the final scene, where the sky just shattered, Sylvanas shattered the veil between life and death and opened the way to the realm of death aka the shadowlands.

@Dean Robin It's not that "there's no implications", it's that it's 100% confirmed that Arthas was way stronger than Bolvar. Arthas was a stronger paladin and a way stronger death knigh, but most importantly, Arthas had Frostmourne.

@Dean Robin no frostmourne no party

@sauwensvk7589 4 года назад
@Dean Robin Not an Arthas fan, but Bolvar as LK was no action, frozen on the throne his whole term, no frostmourne, no being powered and mentored by Ner'zhul + absorbing him. Bolvar didn't destroy his own humanity... didn't have any Northrend help from guys like Anub'arak, Kel'thuzad. Bolvar became Lich King with no preparation or anything. All the power-ups or knowledge Arthas gained will always give him an edge over Bolvar (plus the fact he could solo us all and kill us, had it not been for the light interfering). Bolvar was no pussy and Arthas's fanboys are jerking him just as much as Sylvanas's jerk her. But to say there is no implication of difference in raw power between the two is just wrong.

Sylvanas was empowered by the jailer of the most evil souls ever to exist in the entire universe (who is also on the same level as or stronger than a titan). Bolvar was not Arthas. He never embraced the power his crown gave him. He saw it as a burden. He spent his entire life serving the light and then was tasked with holding shadow at bay. IMO Sylvanas told him he was unfit to wear the crown because he did not want to use its power. So to me, it made sense.

@mamelouze3836
@mamelouze3836 3 года назад
Imma try to keep it simple : The one from the Lich King trailer and Shadowlands one aren't the same guy. The first got corrupted by the Sword he uses (and that's also why we get close-ups on the sword, cus it's REALLY important in the story) and he killed Sylvanas, then raised her back as an undead Banshee. The guy from the Shadowlands trailer got burned by some dragon's breathe and got captured by the Lich King (so the one in the first trailer you watched), that's why he's on fire. At the end, players killed the Lich King, but the fire guy puts on the crown, because there NEED to be a Lich King to "manage" all of the undeads armies, or they will just unleash everywhere and destroy the world. So he's like the good guy taking the bad guy place toi makes things a bit better you know. But the thing is, all of the Lich King powers come from the Crown itself. And this guy is litteraly the king of de deads. So that's why when she breaks the crown apart, the frontier between life and death breaks apart too. The "upside down" that we can see is the realm were dead people goes, and now that the king of deads no longer exists, he can't manage to keep the two worlds separated so they just open up.

Literly all of lich kings power vomes from crown?srsly?who thought you lore? Nerzhul's power comes from a complete armor set crafted to cature his soul the blacksmith of this armor set was kiljaiden(in warcraft 3 the armor is clear in cutsences but un wow they decided to lay a hand on things) beside of the armor set there was also a blade called frostmourne this blade was made by dreadlords for the champion of the lich king and it isnt really connected to nerzhul by any means The blacksmith of the sword is unnoun but it is sayd that dreadlords ORDERED it to be crafted they didnt craft it themselves And according to stuff we found in shadowlands we can almost certainly say the blacksmith is the jailor of damned but then again(almost certain ALMOST)
@mamelouze3836
@mamelouze3836 3 года назад
@@alikamali4174 Dude you're just splitting hairs. You said it yourself, there WAS a sword named Frostmourne. Frostmourne got broken, and it didn't crack the sky to the Shadowlands as far as i know. When Arthas got to the Frozen Throne at the end of War 3 FT, he transforms when he puts the helmet on. When we defeated the Lich King at ICC, Bolvar transforms when he puts the helmet on. When Sylvanas defeats Bolvar, he comes back to himself when she take off the helmet from him.
@LProximus
@LProximus 3 года назад
I think the sword Manipulate the user but the crown take over the user so the thing about Arthas is he had both of them together that’s why he had that much power, so it’s like the lich king (Arthas) was so strong cuz he had 2 artifacts that kinda meant to be together. But after all the lich king character himself was coming from the crown not the sword

The GoT white walkers inspired the Scourge. Blizzard was reading those books before it was cool. They even lampshaded it by giving the title "Kingslayer" to players who killed The Lich King. There's GoT references ALL over Northrend. Ironically, most people didn't get them at the time because very few people had heard of Game of Thrones back in 2007.

From a storytelling perspective one of the things I really love about the Lich King cinematic is how it uses contrasting characterization to really paint the picture of how wrong things have gone with this character. Everything you hear about the character from the voice of his father is talking about how he was raised in reverence, endowed with power that he was meant to wield wisely and use with restraint, and how he was going to stir the hearts of his people to lead them well. At the same time, everything you SEE of the character is this sleeping rage about an inheritance denied, power that's being unleashed without restraint, dangerous things being unearthed, and an army of heartless mockeries he's about to lead into conquest. Two people watching this trailer, one blindfolded, the other with earplugs, will get exactly opposite messages about who this character IS, and the brilliant thing is that they're both right, because this is the story of a character who fell from grace and into darkness. The heart of the character's history is told through that contrast. You don't need the backstory, you don't need the details; the seed of what you really need to know is planted in your imagination to grow without a loredump.

So....in the "Old Soldier". Dranosh, sons of Varok Saurfang, got killed by Lich King (the first one from Wrath of the Lich King). But the worst part about fighting the Lich King is that....your dead allies will become your enemy. That's what happen to Dranosh, in which he became the Lich King's strongest Death Knight. On the battle at Icecrown (end of WotLK), Varok lead The Horde warrior to battle...only to have his own sons block his way. After the battle, he carry his son's body back to his homeland to burried him with his wife.

Also, to put the war into context. Sylvanas burned the Great Tree of Teldrassil, where Night Elves (Alliance) live, killing thousands, for yet mysterious reasons. That reignited the war between the Alliance and the Horde. At the same time, there is conflict inside the Horde as well. Sylvanas, the Warchief of the Horde, was chosen by the former Warchief, who was told by the spirits that Sylvanas had to lead the Horde. But Sylvanas was ruthless, soulless and practical, she did not care about earthly conflicts, she understood very well the threats we were going to face in the future against The Void, an entity in the universe that corrupts planets. Her objective is still not very clear, but we can understand that she wants to control the power of the dead. But that objective conflicts with the old thoughts of the Horde, honor and pride, and fight in combat. That's why Varok says "There is no honor in this, no glory." In the end they fight Sylvanas, with the help of The Alliance. Now in Shadowlands, we will understand the true motives of Sylvanas, and why she has destroyed the veil that separates the living from the dead.

19:33 By breaking the Helm of Domination, she literally shattered the barrier between the world of the living and the dead - the Shadowlands. That first "king" isn't the same one as in the Shadowlands cinematic. The "new" one basically got saved from a poison cloud by red dragons through them burning it. And as they stand for life, he looks like that now.

i'd even say, watch some of the even earlier warcraft movies. for 20-30 year old cinematics, they are still really good. the cinematic, where Arthas comes back home from Northrend is 20 years old, but still better than what most game studios are capable of today. (Arthas' betryal) and the Warcraft 2 cinematics look outdated today, but when u remember they are like 25+ years old...

So the voiceover in the lich king trailer is his father talking. Lich King was Arthas before, son to a king of a human kingdom. Arthas got consumed by revenge and he started going for forbidden powers just to fight his enemies. That helmet and sword was the forbidden power, he thought he can control it but he couldnt. He slowly started to change for the worse, he could change the dead into undead with this power. He went to his kingdom and the happy father welcomed him just to be killed by his son Arthas, who was turning into the Lich King. Then he changed all his kingdom into the kingdom of undead. He was a righteous person however his greed and want for revenge made him make horrible mistakes and reach for powers that made him the Lich King. The Lich King is also the one who changed Sylvanas, the elf into the Banshee Queen - the undeady elf with red eyes. She always wanted revenge on him for it. The Lich King you see in Shadolands trailer is not the same person - it is not Arthas. Bolwar took the helmet on him after we killed Arthas in the game because "there must always be a lich king" to control the undead or they go rampage and apparently, what we didn't know, the destruction of the helmet opens a portal to the shadowlands - the realm of the dead too (the helmet was created there). That is what Sylvanas did by destroying it. All thought she would put it on at first. Bolwar took it upon him after killing arthas because he was burned in the fight and thought its the last act for good he can make and there was no sign of him until now so he did good at controlling that power but from the interactions with him in the game it did change him in some ways already - he became more cold. Sylvanas shouldnt be able to kill the old or new Lich King on her own but she made a deal with somebody from the realm of the dead and she got some insane powers from there that is why it's so easy for her in the Shadowlands trailer to defeat the new Lich King (Bolwar). We killed the old Lich King (Arthas) as a whole army of the Alliance and Horde so the Lich King is really powerful. And no, we didn't kick her ass in the game yet she opens that portal and in the next expansion we go there, she is there with the "being" she made the deal with (jailor). We don't know what will go down, we know she was making war everywhere around her to kill as many as possible so the jailor gets more souls and gets more powerful (and so she gets more powerful), so she stopped carying for the horde, for the world, all she cared about is killing as many as possible. We do not know what will go down in shadowlands, if we kill her or what happens yet. The expansion is not even out yet. We are still in The Battle for Azeroth expansion. In old soldier cinematic you see Saurfang (the orc) standing over his sons body with the necklace of the horde. The son died fighting the old Lich King (Arthas) and was raised as a knight for Lich King (Death Knight) and then killed by us because he was no longer himself, he was controlled by The Lich King. The Helmet was first destroyed now by Sylvanas but the sword that was also a huge source of power for the Lich King (Arthas) was destroyed by us when we killed the old Lich King. It had the ability to trap souls, we freed all the souls when destroying the sword. That is why Bolwar has a mace not a sword but the Helmet is what controlled the undead. Bolwar has the burned and fire appearence because he was burned in the fight with the old Lich King (I don't want to get into details how because it's another huge text haha) however the power of the helmet/Lich King makes him able to change his colors to blue. Arthas was only blue because underneath he was still himself just a little more pale, grey haired and undeady looking but he never actually died he was just changed by the helmet and sword. I wish you could make reactions to all world of warcraft trailers - classic wow, the burning crusade, cataclysm, pandaria, warlords of draenor, legion are left. There are also some in game cinematics as for example when we kill arthas and bolwar takes the helmet, but these are lower filmmaking quality of course, it's just me fangirling over the lore of the game :D but the trailers are all wonderful. Other than world of warcraft some league of legends cinematics are epic too. You can also watch The warbringers series especially the episode with Sylvanas - it shows her origin that I mentioned here. The style of these is different than those cinematics but very cool. Im sorry if its all a bit chaotic I have edited this a milion times as I watched the video and you had more questions. I hope its still understandable. Thanks for reading and have a great day! About the Fire/Ice King's change: The King from the first cinematic isn't the same from the last, the first one was Arthas and he was killed after raising an army of undead against the world, but without a king that army would go around the world without control, so someone would need to make the sacrifice and step up to the throne to keep the undead under control, the second one is Bolvar, he choose to be the new Lich King and control the army of the undead to save the world, his fire inner and burn skin was an effect of being killed by the fire breath of the Queen of the Life, she's a dragon, so he was some kind of unique undead created by the fire of life, after using the crown he became this kind of undead of fire and ice. About the sky breaking apart: That crown is known as the Helm of Domination, it's an artifact created on the Realm of the Dead know as Shadowlands, it gives to the owner the power control the undead, so it's kind like a focused bridge between the Realm of the Living and the Realm of the Dead, the moment she broke the crown she abruptly forced a connection between the two realms, that physical abrupt bridge is represented by sky breaking apart. About here power increasing: There isn't a single entity working as a God of the Realm of the Dead, but they don't work together, so she made a bargain with one of them and started that whole war on Battle for Azeroth to be able to fastly harvest more souls to him in exchange for power. Although she's undead, she's still mortal, but her soul is not going to Shadowlands as any other soul would, her soul is going to some endless void afterlife and she's so afraid of it that she's trying to win against the circle of life and death to escape this fate.

Arthas' cinematic has a much MUCH bigger impact when you have played through Warcraft 3 and know his backstory already. Hearing his father speaking to him with pride, the parallel between his lines and the scenes in the video, the ominous promise of domination since Warcraft finally coming to fruition, all captured beautifully. Still my favorite cinematic even tho it's the one that lacks any form of action in all the trailers.

The Lich King has a long story and is more of a "vessel" of immense power. The Lich King was created by Kil'jaeden. Kil'jaeden was previously acting leader of the Burning Legion, an intergalactic army of demons seeking to destroy all planets with a Titan essence. The creator and actual leader of the Burning Legion is the Titan Sargeras. An awakened Titan is a colossal, planetary sized being with insane power. Sargeras being the most powerful became corrupt after once having sought to protect sleeping Titans. Instead of protecting the sleeping Titans from the Void, he decided to instead destroy sleeping Titans to prevent the Void from corrupting these Titans, which would be even more powerful than regular Titans. Sargeras therefore created the Burning Legion, an army of demons to invade and occupy sleeping Titans (once again, sleeping Titans being planets) and to proceed by destroying the planet. Of course, Sargeras has been successful every single time, until he came across Azeroth. The champions of Azeroth (the players) fought and defeated invasions after invasions of the Burning Legion with unwavering courage and will. We defeated Sargeras two generals, Archimonde the Defiler and Kil'jaeden the Deceiver and ultimately recently, with the help of other Titans, managed to imprison Sargeras himself after Sargeras having pierced Azeroth with his colossal sword which almost destroyed the planet completely. Azeroth, the planet wow takes place in, is in fact a sleeping Titan, but not like any other. It is the most powerful sleeping Titan to ever exist. If the Void corrupts Azeroth, nothing will be able to stop her. What we're trying to do as champions (the players) is to protect Azeroth and heal her to our best ability. Anyhow, that is some backstory. The Lich King was created by Kil'jaeden from an orc soul called Ner'zhul, a very powerful orc that was punished after having betrayed Kil'jaeden. The orcs came from Draenor, another planet which got invaded by the Burning Legion and was pretty much destroyed. The orcs then fled (more complex than just fled however) to Azeroth to settle in a new home. The Lich King was created to prepare for the invasion of the Burning Legion. Essentially the goal was to weaken Azeroths defenders before unleashing the Legion itself upon Azeroth. Arthas Menethil, a young and proud human Paladin of Lordaeron picked up the sword Frostmourne to fight against the undead that the Lich King created. However, Frostmourne belonged to the Lich King himself and ultimately corrupted Arthas to instead turn against humanity and all that is living and side with the undead. He went on a quest to find the Helm of Damnation, the helm which Sylvanas just tore apart. He did so and found the helm atop icecrown and once he put on the helm of damnation, he finally merged with the soul of Ner'zhul and became the Lich King. This version of the Lich King is the most powerful of the two (Arthas and Bolvar). Arthas Lich King planned to betray the Burning Legion and fight them, because he learned that he was just being used as a pawn for the Burning Legion. To fight the Legion, he wanted the most powerful army and the most powerful individuals to raise as undead to fight for him. He was much, much stronger than the combined forces of the champions of Azeroth and actually killed us when we fought him. He was just about to resurrect us as one of his greatest undead champions, but we were ultimately saved by the Light and by Tirion Fordring who literally broke Frostmourne to pieces with his legendary sword, Ashbringer. Highlord Bolvar took the burden of the helm of damnation and became the new Lich King in order to control the scourge and prevent it from potentially destroy all of the living. For there must always be a Lich King... until now. The reason why this new version of the Lich King was much weaker is due to the fact that Frostmourne was destroyed and Arthas was a much more powerful being itself. If it were Arthas against Sylvanas, it wouldn't be nearly as easy, however Sylvanas of course has become incredibly powerful over the years.

Well yes and no, Arthas Gordon menethil wears the crown of the lich king, forged in the fires of narnia with much more power due to his cooking skills and experience from the hell kitchen tv shows, however it is true that kil jaeden has a hand in making the lich king, in the expansion barbies wrath of the bitch king it is as stated '' Kil Jaeden or Jeaden smith as he is called in the one punch man lore, created the crown of the lich king with the HELP of Ryhorn who used his horn to make the holes for the eyes in the helmet, it may not be that important to the story but nevertheless, to expand on the making of the sword Frostmourne, it actually has it roots in the ground, so to say, it is the original sword in the stone, or sword of the bone as it is called in world of whorecraft, the xxx parody, it's counterpart being the titswinger, but enough of that! yes the sword has the power to raise the dead, but not any corpse, since it was not able to ressurect the likes of pedo bear, harambe or anyother out dated meme, i hope this is a help to anyone looking to found out more about hello kitty lore! may the horse be with you

To answer your question at 47:22 of "what is he by the way?" You'll need a bit of context from the actual game, As many other people have stated the man in the shadowlands trailer isn't the same person as the one in the wrath of the lich king trailer. The man in the Shadowlands trailer is Bolvar Foredragon, A human paladin who was almost killed at the Wrathgate; A battle where the Horde and the Alliance joined forces to try and defeat the lich king, but were betrayed from within leaving most of both Horde and Alliance armies dead. After the battle the area was cleansed by a red dragon called Alextraza the lifebinder. Unkown to everyone, this saved Bolvar's life, but his body was charred black as we see it here. Bolvar was later taken from the battlefield by the lich king to be corrupted and made to serve him, but the Alliance and Horde were able to storm Icecrown citadel (The tower shown in the shadowlands trailer) and defeat the lich king before he was able to corrupt Bolvar. Shortly after the death of the lich king, Bolvar asked that he take the lich kings place; As if there is no lich king the mindless undead would run rampant throughout the world. So the lich king's helmet, the crown of domination was placed upon his head giving him the power to control the undead. The red we see in his eyes and chest in the shadowlands trailer is the remnants of the dragon's fire that saved Bolvar's life, whereas the blue that overtakes it when the battle starts is the power of the crown, which gives him command of the undead.

I really like your analyzing the movie parts :) the one thing I value also a big deal in such a trailer is the whole dialogue or narrative plot embracing the visual effects. I think especially in the first trailer they did an amazing fusion of what the narrator says and what the picture shows eg. "you grew into a weapon" - arthas draws the sword "stir the hearts of your people" - undead show their glow (which could mean they have no heart) "you shall be king" - we see arthas from underneath (like we kneel before a king) i find such details very important and very cool to observe :) great job keep it up

To answer your question at 47:22 "What is he by the way": He was the Leader of the Alliance until the mid of the Wrath of the Lich King Expansion (You watched the Trailer earlier). He was killed by a Gas bombardement but the Dragonfire of the Dragonqueen Alexstraza "the Lifegiver" kept him alive (The red fire in him) after she cleansed the place of the battle with it. He was captured and tortured by the Lich king until his Fall. Afterwards took up the Crown of the Lich King (the source of the blue fire) to keep the Undead in control.

So, Wrath of the Lich King was a 2008 Expansion. The Lich King you saw there was from a fallen Paladin, and heir to Lorederan, Arthas Menethil. His story alone is lengthy and explained in Warcraft III more. After the Wrath Expansion, we killed Arthas and replaced him with another to control the Undead Scourge, Highlord Bolvar. You see him in Shadowlands Cinematic. Bolvar's story can be told throughout the World of Warcraft game itself. I recommend you watch the other ones as well. Oh also, not sure if you noticed in Old Soldier, but the two hand gestures Saurfang makes on his son's chest when he takes the pendant off him, he makes the same two gestures on Zekhan's (blue troll) chest when he takes the necklace back. And I always thought in the way they did part when Z runs up to S as he is going off alone, when Zekhan starts to take off his armor, he looks to the side an up to Saurfang as a father. I was always impressed that Blizz could get that emotion in with CGI in about a second.

"HOW IS SHE SO POWERFUL?!!" .. Great question... Apparently she's been making dirty deals with the new Shadowlands baddie who is super powerful, but I don't think very many people were too happy with her power spike.
@Brooke-rw8rc
@Brooke-rw8rc 4 года назад
Sylvanas is wielding the power of The Jailer, basically the ruler of the lowest depth of hell. The Battle for Azeroth was basically her killing as many people as possible so that The Jailer would grow more powerful from their souls. Something broke in the afterlife and now all souls that die go to his realm. In game, however, they only hinted at her new power in Reckoning when she killed Saurfang, and by the wisps of black smoke around her, which is a new thing for her. This cinematic is the reveal of her full power, and "How is she THAT powerful!?" is the intended reaction. They're going to retroactively explain it in the Shadowlands expansion. Many WoW fans are not that patient, however, and Blizzard has bungled some storylines in recent years and eroded player trust, so a lot of people are really salty that she could defeat the Lich King. Even though it's a less powerful Lich King without his greatest weapon- the blade Frostmourne.

The narration of the first one is King Terenas Menethil, who is Arthas' Father. He was one of the first souls claimed by Arthas when he went evil. The narration and conversation he's having is a parody of the cinematic and what his son has become. Before becoming the Lich King Arthas was a Paladin of the Light. He was a good guy, and a very honorable, virtuous person. He became corrupted and turned into a Death Knight. So this cinematic's narration could have been a speech that the King gave to his son before leaving on his last mission. Telling him that he's strong, and he knows that he'll use his power wisely, and rule justly with wisdom and strength. It's a parody because of what he's turned into, which is kind of the opposite, but also kind of the same. He has strength, and is incredibly wise. He's the most powerful and feared King. The cool thing about the first cinematic is that you can actually go to that exact location in the game.

First movie explanation: There was once a promising young prince in Lordaeron, named Arthas. Great warrior and eventually follow the path and became a paladin. In his childhood he lost an horse due to his youth imbecility and made a promise to never accept injustice. As a paladin, he came to cross the Undead Scourge that was turning he people into undead. He chase the responsible for vengeance and sacrifice a lot of people for it. He got cursed by the sword Frostmourne (the one he hold in the movie), when he picked up to accomplish his vengeance, abandoning the light and becoming a death knight. He then return home to kill his father ( the voice that narrate), destroy his home kingdom, killing his mentor as a paladin, burning the high elven kingdom to raise a necromancer into a lich. After a time and fighting many he had piss off, he went to the Frozen Throne(that his where he was seated) to free the Helmet of Domination to complete the set and become the Lich King. In the movie, he awaken because he is now the one in control and nothing good remain within. Thus he went to rise that fallen dragon and spread his control over his undead army to the invade Azeroth and slay all the living. In the second movie, the guy made many massacre in his younger years under influence of daemon blood. He don’t eat pig because their cry remind him of the Draenei children he slaughter. So he got a lot of ptsd and he got nobody left as his son got killed, raised by the Lich King, kill again and thus Saufang had to bury it with his mother. So now he serve that undead chick, Sylvannas that does war crimes and he don’t want to do dishonourable thing anymore. Burning the Great Capital City Tree of Teldrassil and all those innocents weight on him. That his why during the movie at the castle battle he surrendered and you find him later in jail. The last one follow Sylvannas after she fled and she fight Bolvar, a paladin trap between life and death after contracting the undead plague and being burned by the purifying lifegiving breath of the red dragon queen, Alekstraza the Lifebinder. Later, after we defeat the original Lich King, the prince Arthas from the first video, Bolvar makes the ultimate sacrifice and wear the crown to be the jailer of the undead army so that they don’t swarm the living. For what we know now is that the Shadowy figure behind her his some sort of patron. That he offers her something and it is why she reap the veil between the world of the living and were the soul of the dead goes.

Thank you to those who liked my post. I love to share what I like and the lore of Warcraft is so vaste. That is why just watching these videos you can be in awe, but question yourself what is actually going on. Little note, the Lich King was a BBNE (big boss end expansion), someone with a huge amount of power. Someone that needed many heroes and a champion of the light to defeat. It is something. Even if he don’t have Frostmourne anymore, you don’t go solo Bolvar. Yet even surround by a little army, she subdue him and destroy an object of great power. Who ever back her up gave the Banshee Queen quite the boost.

The Flash back scene in "Old Soldier" was actually a flash back times two. The Old Soldier (Saurfang) and young-dead one (Dranosh) while in the snow, is a father and son. The son (Dranosh) was killed by The Lich King (Arthas, the guy that raised the dragon) several [in game] years ago. And Saurfang was having *that* flash back whilst on the wall and flashing back to just a few weeks earlier when Sylvanas had murdered the Elves and Humans who resided in that big tree (Teldrassil) she burned. (Think of Teldrassil as if it were a city of thousands). I have to point out that Orcs in Warcraft (WoW) do not remove their armor before battle usually. However, at this point in his mind set, Saurfang believed that *this* fight was Honor-less. So to go find honor in battle, he was going to go face the might of the Alliance alone and without his armor. Zekan (the Troll that follows him [AKA: Zappi-boy]) wasn't about to leave him though. Zekan sees/saw Saurfang as the embodiment of Honor in the Horde. Zekan then follows Saurfang towards the Alliance war front, and Zekan's desire to cling to the Old Horde reminds Saurfang that there are those within the Horde who are worth fighting for, worth being the bastion-of-honor to. This then gives us a touch of humor at the end of the cinematic when Saurfang chides Zappi-boy about fighting without armor. If you know this, when you pay attention to the "Battle for Azeroth" cinematic, where Saurfang is on the ground fighting and Sylvanas is darting down the siege tower, his armor is only partly on. He never fully gets it all on. ----- The Shadowlands Cinematic is showing us how powerful Sylvanas has become, and how changed the new Lich king is (Bolvar Foredragon). Long story short: Bolvar should be dead totally. However, the toxin of a plague Sylvanas' man (Putruss) created, and the fires of a Dragon (Alexstrasza the Life Binder) fused into him caused him to not die. Then Arthas, the first Lich King, found him and tortured him whilst Bolvar hug in chains above the Frozen Throne (The chair/throne you talked about and that Arthas is seated in, in "The Lich King" cinematic, and later and Bolvar is seated in in the Shadowlands cinematic). All these tortures combined still did not make Bolvar loose his faith in "The Light". Besides, someone was needed to hold the Undead at bay; "There must always be a Lich King". Bolvar as the Lich King is not as powerful as Arthas was as the Lich King. Also, take note, Arthas as the Lich KIng has a Sword, Frostmourne. Bolvar the Lich King, never will. The sword was broken when Arthus was killed (by we the players -yay-). Also, so you know, the man narrating in "The Lich King" cinematic is actually Arthas' father; King Terenas Menethil of Lordaeron. Another long story short: Arthas, after getting hold of Frostmourne, returned to his father and commit patricide. Arthas then return back to Ice Crown Citadel, put on the Helm of Domination, the Plate of the Damned and sat in the Frozen Throne. ------ There is a connection between Arthas and Sylvanas. And another between Sylvanas and Lodaeron. (LOL!) wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Helm_of_Domination_(Lich_King)

The problem lies within everyone swarming reaction channels saying 'omg react to World of Warcraft Cinematics!'... While they are beautiful feats of skill, art, and dedication... Most people aren't going to know whats going on. And can't even blame them for not diving into the lore first. They probably assumed they didn't need to, which is fair. Most games have 1 or 2 cinematics at most as far as the average person is aware. Like, people could react to a cinematic for Cyberpunk 2077 or something, and be fine. It's designed to give you introduction context as it's almost a standalone product (yeah there is a great history to Cyberpunk and all that, but the game itself will definitely be newbie friendly and inviting), whereas with WoW you have countless cinematics spanning countless expansions/patches and, even more broadly, the rest of the Warcraft franchise going back through the books, RTS games, etc.
