The origin of the book isn't clear. Some think he found the book in the room at the end of Chase Me, which seems to contain everything the girls left behind. Where did the girls get the book? Fly High may answer that question.
You can dig deeper and deeper yet still barely describe the editing techniques. You are in deep and we support you. Just keep going and enjoy the journey, take this as a lesson in how engaging cinnema can be.
A couple things right up front. 1) Don't worry about not understanding the story after one viewing. It's a safe bet that very few people understand the full story after just one viewing. 2)Outside of some key pieces of information and some important symbolism, a LOT of the story had been left purposefully vague. There is very little official information about the story from Happyface or Dreamcatcher. They did this on purpose. They felt that it would be more fun for the fans that way. They gave us a lot of room to theorize and discuss the finer points of the story. 3) A lot of your questions will be answered (the spider connection. Who are they? Where are they? What happened to them? etc) in the next video, Fly High, which as you probably know by now is a prequel to Chase Me. It shows how all this got started. Some key pieces of information about what you've seen so far. 1) They're not witches. They are Nightmares. 2) Yes, he is a form of paranormal investigator. No he didn't kill them. 3) At the beginning of these 2 videos, the girls / Nightmares are trapped within the hotel. 4) I call the book that he finds "The Book of Nightmares". Much like most kpop idols have a representative color and / or animal, the members of Dreamcatcher each have a representative nightmare. As he opens the book and reads the pages he triggers the nightmares depicted in those pages (Gahyeon's nightmare of falling, SuA's nightmare of being physically restrained, etc). After Dami steals the book they burn certain pages, freeing the girls from their nightmares (reference the limbs holding SuA down burning when they burn the page). There's a LOT more, but that's all I'll give you this time. You know, spoilers and all that. As the story progresses and you see more videos, the story will become clearer (while at the same time becoming a bit more confusing). It's a "Well, that answered 1 question, but now I have 3 more questions" kind of thing.

Officially we have been told they are nightmares & each girl represents different type of nightmare. JiU - being chased by a stranger Sua - being restrained Siyeon - being trapped in a small space (claustrophobia) Handong - being watched Yoohyeon - being lost in an unknown place Dami - having scars all over her body Gahyeon - falling from a high place Each nightmare was a page in the book, Also see a few of the nightmares happen during goodnight Fly high mv is prequel to chase me so explains how they became nightmares
insomnias would never come at you for not understanding the plot cause we all share one braincell, we dont understand it either lol Here is what happens n the mvs: The girls are nightmares, and they haunt people's dreams in a hotel. The guy is a nightmare hunter who came to the hotel to capture/eliminate the girls. At first the girls dont know what he is, and just try to scare him in his dreams (slowly mixing dreams with reality). The girls protect the room 808, that seems to be their own room and at the end the guy manages to enter the room and inside it, he found the nightmare book, the source of their powers. It contains info on how to destroy them too. And the guy uses the book in Good Night MV to trap Gahyeon and Sua inside their own nightmares (Gahyeon's nightmare is failling endlessly and Sua's nightmare is sleeping paralysis). The guy also chases Yoohyeon and Siyeon in the woods. Jiu, Handong and Dami searches for a way to save the other girls, they managed to get the nightmare book back, and by burning the pages, they release Sua and Gahyeon from their nightmares, and then they trap the guy inside the mirror, maybe in another dimension, who knows? It's okay to not get everything the first times through. Most people don't. Ultimately they are music videos so things will be vague compared to short films or longer form content. It does become clearer on rewatches and incorporating later videos, but there is no official statement on what exactly is happening. I won't say more since you wanted to interpret on your own.
this is the reason why i love watching people first time watching dreamcatcher, i admit because i had the same reaction when i first saw them i was so confused trying to figure out the storyline and the connection between the MV's 😂 well, first of all it's natural that you're gonna be confused because the story between MV's are not in order. as for the spider you're looking for in you and i it will be shown why the spider is getting it's revenge to Yoohyeon in fly high. the story begins in fly high then you and i followed by piri then chase me and the last was good night 😂 after watching all of their title tracks you should watch the proper order to understand the story 😂 anyway I'm really loving your reaction videos because you're observing even the little things. The cool thing about the story line is that it comes together as you watch all the videos over and over, which, of course, is the point with music videos. A movie you watch through once and you ought to be able to pretty much get it. But a story based in several MVs needs to take time to reveal itself. That way viewers can keep enjoying and discovering as they rewatch the MVs. And everyone gets a chance to put their own personal twist in the meaning. The girls are nightmare demons who are experiencing their own nightmares over and over, but I won't say more till after you react to Fly Hight. Love the reaction, by the way.
Don't sweat it, the story is mysterious and not fully explained. There's lots to wonder and theorize about! Fly High gives more pieces of the puzzle, and most happens in You and I.

Love your reaction ❤ Don‘t feel too pressure to try to understand what the story is. I‘m pretty sure insomias will explain way later or so. But if you want to try to figure out, maybe think of "nightmare" as you go. 😊 You were right about that they were trapped.
it's totally okay to not "get it" at a first or even a tenth attempt of watching it. what i love the most about the whole dreamcatcher concept is that even though we know there's a storyline and connections, every video also works very well each on their own. things will make some kind of sense even if we don't know all the details of it and that's fun too, it makes us want more and exercise our imagination a bit. thank you for your reaction, it was fun and as a fellow filmmaker i can totally relate to the struggle lol. also considering the amount of attention paid to detail in the set dressing and overall production (even going as far as shooting an mv in another country for 'fly high') i don't think they rely on small budgets.
If you're curious about what is happening you can watch "Dreamcatcher Storyline Theory" by "How Would Soshi Sing?" It gives the complete timeline but I really like their theory about it because it does make a lot of sense

Thanks for another DC reaction but don’t hurt yourself trying to figure everything out, most of us InSomnia still don’t know what’s going on lol but every theory I’ve found is so interesting, people are so imaginative. Well, how about you take a break from analyzing the storyline and watch these videos and actually talk about the film editing? Recently, Dreamcatcher came out with a 2 part parody of the Kdrama The World of the Married. It was Sua’s idea as a result of boredom from quarantine and she wanted to make something for the fans. So she and Siyeon recruited the rest of the group and came up with this. Don't fret about not getting it on the first time. I didn't either. This is art, and it is up for interpretation as the consumer sees fit. So every theory you might have is not wrong, although once you've seen all the parts of the Nightmare storyline, some theories will get dropped. But in the end, just enjoy! for me they are ghosts and he is a ghost hunter! So he is chassing them but he didn't succeed and got trapped in the dreamworld which is the other side of the mirror.
You could maybe watch the video without the subtitles first so you can focus on what is happening and then watch it with subtitles off camera so you get some sort of background (? Yeah that's essentially what I do most of the time. I leave the subtitles on on my first watch because a lot of times people skip straight to the reaction and will complain if there are no subtitles. So I leave them on but usually watch the MV a second time to read the subtitles (but cut out most of it because I'm just reading). But I always prioritize the MV on my first watch :) Thank you so much! That is so sweet :) I make sure to definitely stick to reactions I enjoy, thankfully I am personally interested in the Dreamcatcher videos (I just personally wouldn't put me figuring out the story in the center of the reaction because I'm not very good at it haha). How Would Soshi Sing? Channel does a nice theory video about the timeline, linking almost all of the M/Vs together. It's a quick 7 minute video that makes a lot of sense. Only downside to it is they use the windows text to voice so it gets annoying quickly.
I've been a fan (InSomnia) since their debut but the first time I saw these two MV's all I got was there was this ghosthunter chasing them and trying to catch them using the creepy spell book. The girls seem to be able to enter dreams and turn them into nightmares. They seem to be able to use mirrors as a gateway to other dimensions and they trap the ghosthunter in one of those. That's it. There is so much more, since there isn't a wasted frame in any of Dreamcatcher's MV's. After hundreds of viewings and reading the ideas of other fans, I still see new things every time I watch them. That's the power of Dreamcatcher. Also keep in mind that these songs and MV's were made for Koreans and not Westerners. There are a lot of images and symbols in them that come from Korean traditional culture mixed with the American culture brought to Korea during the Korean War. It's a gateway to Korea and it's people. Have fun! I certainly have.
This is made to confuse you, if you like the music enough you can experience their art many times and keep finding new details. That's what some of us love about this world, more to think about.
hi!!! i really liked your reaction and analysis to their mv, but to put things simpler and to give you subtle hints (this is what i understand, so don't come at me too HAHAHAHAHAH), they were nightmares in Chase Me and they are haunting him in different ways (like how yoohyeon changes all the room numbers to 808 so the guy was so confused af) and in Good Night, two were already captured and trapped in the book, two we're escaping, and the three was helping in ways they can, and they ended up trapping him in the mirror at the end i am really glad how you pointed out that the dreamcatcher fell on the last moments of Good Night bc they were meant to catch nightmares, but the girls went around it to get their homies back (and now i'm subscribed ksksksksksks)
yes, they switched. They're nightmares but could be considered as ghosts, what difference does it make? lol.. they're cursed by the spider lady from Fly High. Each member represents a different nightmare; gahyeon is falling, SuA is sleep paralysis and so forth. the book tells that story. The ghost hunter uses the book to trap them, the other member uses the book to free them.

They released PSYCHO just last year December and it already has more than 130M views without proper promotion (since their main vocal WENDY, fell from the KBS stage when they and other groups are preparing for their stages. She suffered broken bones and bruises to her face. And we're all so glad and thankful she she's okay now). "I'm not smart enough to understand this" I think it's intentionally vague with the symbolism, there doesn't really seem to be a lot of consensus on it.
not exactly. Fly High starts out in paralell with Harry Potter. They are students of magic. Natural, pure, all sunshine, butterflies and bright colors. Then one of them finds the spider who shows them another way and everything starts getting dark and the butterfliess vanish. It's dream magic and their existance moves to the dream world. They have absolute power over you when you are asleep. So in Chase Me they are just as good as ghosts of witches. All the bad things that happen to the investigator happen when he falls asleep. At the end he seems to be having a stroke. One side of his face starts to droop. Or maybe he dreams he is. That's them in the picture before they turned to the dark side. Maybe he's just trying to find out what happened to them. I assume they vanished when they turned. After this it gets complicated. You may have noticed that in K-POP the message in the lyrics and the story in the video don't have to be the same and very often they are not. Don't try too hard to find a way to force the video to be about the song.

I can't speak for the general rules etc. but this is my experience: The company that owns the video and/or song will claim your video, which means you can't monetize or make money off of it. Though some companies will also block your videos so that they can't be viewed in certain countries. I've had that experience with some NCT and MONSTA X videos/songs. You can technically dispute those copyright claims, I have never done that but it is technically possible. I hope this helped, if not feel free to ask any other questions! 😊
