Great video man...I saw you on the podcast with Jeff from Films at Home this morning. I really enjoyed that, so I'm looking forward to checking out more of your content.
Coincidentally, I too have just been getting into Hong Kong martial arts films.. mostly films that have a basis in comedy, rather than straight martial arts dramas. Only just learned of prolific actor/director Sammo Hung and I'm now on a mission to collect more of his films. The fact that he worked with Jackie Chan quite a lot is the icing on the cake! So far seen Millionaire's Express, Skinny Tiger and Fatty Dragon.. and the first of the Lucky Stars 3 film set, Winners and Sinners. All great fun. Love the colourful Eureka slipcases lined on my shelf!
Excellent choices, Elliot! You discussing Odd Couple, certainly added it to my wishlist. Still need to grab the Godfather 4Ks, just waiting for a slight price drop. Glad you were able to see a great mix of films lately. Cheers, my friend!
Hey Elliot, thanks for this. I'm sure, that like me, many of us value your opinion related to movies. I was really surprised by Pig and loved it. I need to rewatch The Searchers as I like but never loved it. I'm not really a fan of John Ford or John Wayne. Love Charade and great to see you include it. We're rewatching many Hitchcocks at the moment. Stay well!
They aren't martial arts films but I'd recommend John Woo's Hong Kong action movies if you haven't seen them. They're a lot of fun. Hard Boiled being his masterpiece.
Charade is in the public domain (in the U.S. at least, idk how it works in the U.K.) so it can easily be found online to watch for free (legally, since it's public domain). Of course, it can sometimes be difficult to find public domain films online in actual good quality, but if you look around you should be able to find a good copy if you want to check it out. Of course that Criterion Blu Ray is going to be the BEST quality though.
@@ElliotCoen I think it's 95 years in the U.S., but in the case of this movie, apparently the copyright declaration/notice in the film was done incorrectly so it was invalid and thus went into the public domain, from what I can tell.
Hey dude, I have a question. I am from India and I have a region C blu ray player and a region free blu ray disc, will that disc play on my player? Would my TV specifications have something to do with it?
