This is awesome, thank you! Is it possible to also make the comparison date dynamic? E.g. If I wanted users to be able to choose YoY, MoM, Previous Period, etc.

Hi Dana! You can absolutely do that. I think you can piece together some of the logic from this video: onenumber.biz/blog-1/2022/1/23/how-to-build-a-custom-date-filter-for-a-tableau-dashboard and this video: onenumber.biz/blog-1/2022/3/22/build-a-selected-vs-comparison-date-period-filter-in-tableau Feel free to book an office hour if you want to tackle it together!

This is super helpful for what I'm working on at the moment - thank you. But I feel like I missed something. After you created the "Current Period T/F" calculated field and showed the value of the sales change...how did they change? Wouldn't you need to add that calculated field as a filter first? I don't understand why your data is filtering based on the parameter or t/f field at that point.

Thank you! I had some of the calculations pre-written to save time on the video. For example, this is the "Current Sales" field: IF [Current Period T/F] THEN [Sale] END. It already referenced the [Current Period T/F] calculation so all I was doing was adjusting the logic from YEAR([Date]) = 2023 to our updated logic. The same goes for the prior period Sales, as well as Profit and Order Count. You can download the workbook from the example here to check out the calculations: public.tableau.com/app/profile/eric.parker/viz/CustomDateRangeFilterforDashboard/Title
