to be fair though- kds shot didnt decide the game. Cavs had plenty of time to try and get a couple good shots and play 2 for 1. Kyrie irving drained the clock dribbling the ball and didnt create a better shot for himself than he had 20 seconds earilier. It looked like he wanted it to be dramatic or something. but if hes gonna shoot a horrible shot with defense right on him- atleast do it early in the shot clock.
I thought the shitty Kyrie possession after was brutal. Good D, but you don't want to dribble the air out of the ball, miss the 2 for 1, then hoist a bad contested shot.
As legendary as this Warriors team was, people forget how absolutely stacked this Cavs team was as well. Would've prolly trounced any other opponent with the possible exception of the Spurs.
@@WarriorsFanSince-ur3zu kevin love was not a role player man avg 26 and 15 year before lebron recruited him chris Bosh number took a hit to wen he played with bron it happens wen you go from being number 1 option to 3rd
Remember watching this while in hospital bed after surgery. Nurses and doctors would come into my room as well and watch it with me. What games these 2 teams did.
I remember watching Game 5 at the university. Watching with many other Cavs fans, we were thrilled and they can somehow make a miracle in those final minutes. The Warriors with KD were just on a different level. In terms of offense, there's simply no team that can be compared with them.
These 3 Finals matchups (2015, 16, and 17) are so legendary. Basketball history will remember these as a special era of shooting and ridiculously high skilled ballers
Now that I look back at this game, the Warriors got easy shots in the last 2 minutes while the Cavs got contested or difficult shots. Plus that Warriors team didn't panic after big shot was made.
@@jamesjohnson-rr9gp they were supposed to force the switch with Steph, JR did it once but didn’t clear Klay out and let him get back to Kyrie. Then he didn’t space the floor when Kyrie was gonna take Klay 1v1. It wasn’t Kyrie over dribbling because he wanted to, he had to cause of bad spacing offensively.
cavs were up 6 with a little over 2 minutes left and the crowd still didn’t feel confident. that warriors team is beating any team in the history of the league, no doubt.
@Bloop you have to be kidding me that was one of the better defensive teams in nba history klay Thompson draymond green and since kd didn’t have to carry the offensive load he played really great defense and if I’m not mistaken he was a dpoy candidate as well in 2017 at one point.
@@chocamocha4541 okay look at the bulls competition in the finals easily a weak competition compared to the teams warriors faced and any of those teams jordan faced would not beat the warriors
It's been 5 years and I still can't believe Cleveland blew this game after fighting hard against the juggernaut warriors for almost 48 minutes...but then again that's why the Warriors won, because Cleveland didn't leave their hearts out the whole game which left Golden State alive and they just took this game and series literally
@@juwantaylor5293 true, but let's not act that if golden state were in the finals again and this time without KD that they would win cause in reality Cleveland had their number the last 4 games against them
James had so many opportunities, so many great open looks and instead passed the ball every time during that critical phase of the game. Gave it away IMO, I want my best player taking over, taking those shots in those moments.
Kyrie taking that long to take the shot and wasting the 2 for 1 opportunity is one of the lowest IQ moments in NBA history. He should get absolutely thrashed for that.
Everytime he gave it away it was the right play. 1st pass to Love, guarded by multiple people, gave it to love for an wide open easy layup, Love smokes it by flopping. 2nd pass to Korver, drives with DPOY Dray on him with KD coming to help, gives it to Korver for an easy 3 for his level. Brick. If those two made their shots, Cavs can slow game down and don't have to foul, Cavs win. LeBron didn't lose the game, Love and Korver did.
This game was the best example of "make or miss league". If Cleveland made even one of those shots before KD made his, they were probably winning this game. KD's 3pointer effectively ended the series.
Final 3:29 stats for LBJ: 0-1 FG, 1 ast, 1 reb. - Allowed KD to score the 3 pt that made the GS to go up by 1. - Blocked by Iggy on a 3pt attempt - Passed to KL for shot (Missed) - Passed to Kyrie who milked the clock until 4 seconds left which resulted in a JR Smith missed 3pt. - Allowed GS to switch and put Triston Thompson on KD. LBJ guarding Dray who is no way a threat offensively. - Milks the clock down to 4 then passed to Korver 3pt (Missed) - With 10 seconds left, passes to JR Smith who almost loses the ball, then KL shoots a 3pt (Missed) & a Turnover. Meanwhile LBJ just looking, walking to the half court.
as a warriors fan this is so disingenuous. he made the right play every time and if one of his teammates hit one of those shots they probably win the game
He did not make the right play EVERY time. The switch from KD to Draymond was absolutely atrocious. Leaving Tristan on an island with KD for a non offensive threat? Can’t excuse that one.
Kyrie taking that long to take the shot and wasting the 2 for 1 opportunity is one of the lowest IQ moments in NBA history. He should get absolutely thrashed for that. They fell apart mentally.@@karimgreen8732
In the following offseason LeBron lost like 20lbs and said he was going to play the next season slimmed down to about 245. I thought he was fearing injury but in reality he was too heavy to keep up with the Warriors down the stretch and it showed.
Excuses excuses excuses lmao. LeBron has had some of the best cardio of any player since he was like 280, that’s just bs. Slimming down in his later years was a good idea, but if he was 245 he still would’ve lost this series bro…
@@poly_g6068 obviously that’s basic physiology…. What’s your point lmao? You can’t just pick 1 finals loss of Bron’s career and claim he was fatigued lmao. He was even heavier when he was on Miami and had no issues except for cramps which are unrelated
2017 was such a bad year. There were literally 3 teams that were historically great and the next best team was just a decent Boston team that would be a 2nd round exit at best most years. The Warriors, Cavs and the Spurs were so far ahead of the competition that the 2nd round of the playoffs was actually not relevant in any way you look at it. The East was already decided before the year even began and the only reason the West wasn’t a guarantee was because Kawhi decided to get into the argument of best player out of nowhere and the Spurs playstyle was the kryptonite of the the Warriors even though the Warriors had much more talent. It was ridiculous. That was the best Warriors team ever, the best Cavs team ever and the best Spurs team ever that didn’t have Duncan in it.
@@juniordexter3214 who says stuff like that 😆 lebron has 4 rings 4 final mvps and his stats is out the roof my mans. May not be the best of all time for ppl say MJ buts the fact lebron in the convo yet others tend to crap on him makes me realize how many casual fans their actually is
Up 6 with 2:50 left and the key moments to me are The No call on K Love Klay on back to back possessions was isolated with Kyrie and got 2 just absolute monster stops The last 2 buckets by KD were magnificent as much as I hate to say it lol Kyle Korvers open miss haunts me to this day 💯
you just sound like a gilligan who’s making a bunch of excuses. lebron shouldn’t be driving left into traffic after making 4 indecisive dribble moves when the nigga literally could’ve just went right and got a foul or a layup to put em up by 4. everyone on that team including lebron choked. simple as that.
It wasn’t a super open shot ( korver ), also before that he had draymond green on him, let me remind you GREEN HAD 5 FOULS. He should have attacked and make green foul him
@@dant3_rodant395 @Dant3_Rodant3 If u ask me, Lebron shudda drove against EVERYONE and made EVERYONE foul him the whole whole final 3 mins while they still had the lead smdh 😔
Unpopular opinion: the 2017 Cavs was the most loaded team LeBron ever played on in his career. They just happened to run into the greatest team ever in the finals…
Kevin Love missing that bounce pass was a momentum killer. Kyrie and Bron missing hurt. And then that Kyle Korver miss was the true backbreaker. Cavs controlled the game from start to finish (almost). The KD Warriors were just too good. You had to be damn near perfect and hope they had a bad day. What an era this was.
Jordan wouldn’t have even made it to the finals with this Cavs roster. He’s too ball dominant and not a good facilitator, Kyrie wouldn’t have put up with his shit tbh
@@loudthebest7546😂 Jordan played within an offensive system that he mostly played off of the 🏀 in. Lebron is the system wherever he plays. The 🏀 is always in his hands.
just brilliant basketball all around by golden state in the closing minutes, from KDs scoring touch and dagger three to curry's rebounding and Iggy's defense, that 2016-17 warriors team might have been the greatest nba team ever
Wanted to say that this series was a lot more competitive than it looked similar to the 2012 finals between okc and miami the difference was that while both teams historically were juggernaunts on offense. But on defense the warriors ranked 2nd with a defensive rating of 104 while the cavs ranked 21 with a rating of 110.3. Had the cavs been a top 10 or even top 13 defense this series at least goes 6 games prolly 7 with the cavs maybe winning the series
Spot on analysis man. You can see the difference in defense just in this final 2-3 mins of the game. While the cavs are struggling to get any open look on the other end of the court the warriors were getting any open look they wanted easily. Before the KD 3, look how easily steph got that layup. They really didn’t even try to contest it he just went full speed right past them
They lacked effort throughout the entire season and it's not like this team didn't have solid defenders they still had most of the pieces from last year and the cavs were 10th last year
The only unfair matchup Lebron had was 2018 lol.. 2017 matchup was literally perfect... KD vs Bron, Steph vs Kyrie, K Love Kyle Korver Tristan Thompson vs Draymond Klay and Iggy like come on.. We just make excuses because Bron lost
This isn’t the 90s. Players don’t play iso anymore on offense. GS has too much movement, and you can’t afford to leave anyone open, the only reason the Cavs made it to the finals was because of Lebron
@@sac1211 not really, we all watched that Christmas game and saw Cavs were no joke.. Just because u wanna suck off Lebron and pretend every Finals he was in is unfair cuz he lost doesn't mean im gonna join the party
NBA Finals game at home, fighting to avoid gettin in the 0-3 hole. And what happens to the delusional, safe declared GOAT? He just chokes, as usual. Gets humilliated, as usual for a SIX-FINALS-LOSER. And the Warriors gave him half of those NBA Finals beatings. A classic.
Because the NBA only focuses only with Lebron winning moments. In 2016, they always talked about the block but not Kyrie’s shot. And the highlights of 2017 Finals are hard to find in RU-vid because it features Lebron losing….. a ton
@@jeffersoncristobal6386 Nah because you KD doesn't get credit because that team never needed him to win. Only reason the Cavs beat the warriors was Draymond Green imploding. What is Jordan joined the Pistons and won 2 Chips he wouldn't be considered the GOAT
@@jeffersoncristobal6386 yo I’m glad I’m not the only one that noticed this. I can’t find the 2017 or 2018 full final highlights anywhere on the NBA RU-vid account, I wonder why…
That Korver missed 3 and KD 3 will forever haunt me. We had them on the ropes and played very well. That sequence determines the game and ultimately the series
That sequence changed the whole historical narrative of these teams in the Finals. Each had won 1 title and if Cavs win game 3 they got the momentum back. Instead Cavs win one more game, lose then get swept the next year.
After watching this game the cavs really let that game slip out of their hands they went on a 0-10 run, bricking 3s and love with the turnover on an easy basket that could’ve put the cavs up 8 with less than 2 minutes to go. Probably sealing the game.
This game definitely decided the series. Cavs win this game and the next and anything goes in game 7. But KD being the main difference he was supposed to be and even a great Cleveland roster couldn't push it to at least 6 games.
