Well…this is it. This is how it all ends. A true one of a kind era for Caltrain, the Caltrain we all know and love has come to an end. It's a bittersweet moment for all of us. Yeah the new Stadler KISS EMUs are truly the most modern, high tech piece of railroad equipment we have compared to anyone else in the United States, but the legacy and hardwork the F40s have endured their entire 40 years of service. But they'll be greatly missed in the railroad community, from railfans, enthusiasts and even Caltrain employees.
Here in this video, taken the evening of September 20th, 2024, the night the Caltrain F40s and Nippon Sharyo Gallery Cars make their final runs to San Francisco and San Jose, California, U.S.A. We got ourselves comfy at Caltrain's Menlo Park Station, anxiously waiting for the final few trains to arrive and depart. Other enthusiasts joined but you can feel the excitement but also to say goodbye. Farwell Caltrain F40s and Sharyos, you will be dearly missed by others and myself.
