Fun to watch all around. 4 days of none stop top tier apex, Darkzero going back to back. Genburton winning lan on his official debut. Cant wait for year 3
Despite DarkZero winning the championship, I gotta say HisWattson and Furia definitely were the best team during the tournament. A newcomer in ALGS with the rank 1 apex pred at the same time the first team to have match point and has the highest overall points.
Furia was the best fighting team for sure but not the best overall or they would've made the necessary adjustments to win it all. It is a marathon to win a championship, not a kill race. Reaching match point first means nothing if you sh*t the bed for 5 consecutive matches after. Their comp and play style is great for racking up those points but not for securing the dub. They played terrible the last few matches and didn't even sniff good placements.
I gotta say GMT and Furia really made the alga for me the vibes from GMT had smiling like crazy and the aggression from furia was super enjoying to watch

Furia had the most match points, but they were just running around fighting everybody they saw... and they lost that advantage... Best champ in ages. Good team variety and I loved seeing the occasional Seer out there after he was written off so early. Finally teams using him over bloodhound. Really fun and congrats to Australia putting their names on an Esports map
Dark Zero knew they had the best spot in that final circle and had the composure to win. They were in the right place at the right time. Congrats to them!
Well that was unexpected. I went to bed just after 100T and someone else had just got match point. DZ were about 15 points off, weren't even in the running as far as I was concerend. Congrats to them.
I can’t believe my two favorite teams darkzero and furia did so well. I just wished FURIA would have played a slower and less aggressive composition to give themselves a better chance at a win.
judging from god point of view, i think ssg should full send DZ and take god spot because left side was a total mess which third party chances are low.
For everyone complaining that the format is unfair and RNG. Yes, it is, everyone sees that but it will never be changed from match point to points only because: 1) it's a battle Royale and surviving matters 2) otherwise we would often know half match who won and they wouldn't go for that cuz the hype would die half match as well. So next time you're watching just enjoy the matches instead of expecting your team to win too hard. Having said that, congrats to Furia, NRG and GMT!
The whole point of having a league/tournament/competition is for 1 team which is at the top to win. If I just want to enjoy watching matches then I could just watch someone's stream, why watch a 4 day tournament if someone is gonna win on technicality. It's like you doing all the hardwork and investing time on your project but in the end someone else takes all credit.
@@realskyboy That's Apex legends sometimes you get unlucky that's why it's a battle royale with auto generated loot pools and rings, makes it a different experience every time. the evo shields help mitigate randomness with skill as you get more powerful for playing objective and being aggressive, this tournament was amazing.
@@realskyboy I get you mate and I feel the same, but as I said before, they probably will never change the format because of the game being battle Royale. Just like respawn struggled a lot with ranked cuz they really didn't want to give up those placement points. But yea, would be nice to see a tournament for actually the best team :)

As a spectator, I'm so glad my ranked games don't look like that, so stressful. Just unfortunate so many teams couldn't use their roster, but congrats to DarkZero
@@darksoulsj-him4407 absolutely not. 2 back to backs are already insane and Darkzero had MASSIVE amounts of luck on their side that last match. Ring happens to pull towards them the entire match AND the ONLY two teams that could have prolonged the tournament (TSM and Optic) JUST so happened to be right on top of each there and fought themselves? Nah those levels of luck were unimaginable. There won't be a back to back to back. Dz and TSM will probably go down as the only two teams to win back to back. No one is getting 3 Championships in a row. Statistically the math just isn't there.
This was such an entertaining tournament. I can really see Apex growing so much now. However, it is an absolute disgrace that they did not have proper covid protocols set in place for this.

Because they won last game. Statistically they are less impressive than 100T, Furia, Fnatic, Alliance, SSG, and tons of others. They had massive amounts of God given luck that last game that helped them win.
because they have a match point (50 points above) and they score the win in the last game to secure the champions in the last game there are 9 team that got match point (50 points above) , and need one more win to secure the champions, and darkzero win it
@@stoneeyposty2164 pretty much yes. As a br its already rng on loot, zone pulls and third parties, but to win a game on top of that is also rng in it self. Take the last game for example. Zone pulls toward DarkZero all game and at the end, the only 2 teams that could prolong the tournament just so happened to be above and below each other. Obviously TSM and OpTic don’t know that so they end up having to fight each other for the spot. Furia pretty much dominated the entire tournament from start to finish and didn’t win because 1, they refused to play “baby comp” (gibby caustic etc.) 2, they stuck to what worked for them the entire tournament and fought everyone they saw. And 3, rng just wasn’t on their side. A lot of fans have said that winning is what a br should be and that dark zero just know how to win, but that just wasn’t the case. Outside of the game to win, they only won 1 other game throughout the entire tournament. No one can sit here and say DarkZero is flat out just the best because they just so happened to win the last game.

Teams fight and get points based off of how well they placed and a point for every kill they got. Teams fight to get to 50 points. Once they've passed 50 points, they go into match point. Who ever passes 50 points and wins their next game wins the tournament. Furia had 80 points but failed to win any games after the 50 point mark while Dark zero, despite having less points won after collecting 50 points.
Same. Thats why Hal wanted him so much to be part of his team. But now I dont think Gen will move to Tsm anymore since Gen made a history to his own team.

They lucked out. Point wise they weren't that impressive. 100T, Furia, GMT, Fnatic, SSG were all more impressive but Darkzero had luck. They had ring pull towards them the entire time and the two teams that could have prolonged the tournament, TSM and Optic happened to be right on next to each other. The only two teams that could have saved the game, just so happened to fight themselves. The luck for DZ was incredible but it won't happen again next year. If it does, they should buy a lottery ticket because with luck like that you're set for life.
@@SphereFps not sleeping on them. They weren't impressive compared to the other top contenders. Sleeping on would be a team like Furia. First Lan ever and they were tearing apart teams and rolling the entire lobby and made it to 2nd place. THAT is sleeping on.

Furia underestimated the ruthlessness of ALGS's matchpoint system, they thought they had the W in the bag just because they rolled every other team earlier, but they didn't change the way they play even tough they had matchpoint much earlier than everyone else. Furia had 2 chances to close out the championship with no one else even close to contesting for god sake.
@@apexcrypto01 I agree, DZ was not a stand out team throughout the tournament. They sort of cruised thru the winners bracket mid pack. Sure, some of the better performing teams might have "deserved" it.... End of the day it's a BR & points don't mean anything if you can't convert on match point.
Don't even understand, that you can say "the format is awesome" It's hella RNG based in matchpoints and doesn't really reflect overall gaming skill. Fair enough you can't be mad on Respawn, coz these compet systems are made by pre-school kids (same as Arena Ranked and BR Ranked). Don't get me wrong, I don't really care about who wins, but for me, the winner should be the team, that gets the most points in 6 matches and nothing else... Coz if you get most points in 6 games, it shows me, that your gaming skill is the best of all.
@@vlads.3192 But the main goal of a BR is to be the last team alive Furia had the most points but only won a single game Sure they were the best 3 on 3 fighting team, but the decision making in their later match point games was very questionable I understand the RNG aspect but i think Match Point really proves who can win the game when it matters the most. Which is what i think determines the true best team.
@@loganlewis1246 dark zero also only won one game, 2 games overall throughout the whole tournament. Im a TSM fan but lets be honest here, Furia was most definitely the best team this Lan from start to finish.
@@loganlewis1246 Are we gonna overlook the Respawn claim about the FPS game also? So why not make it "first to win 3 games" wins the tourney? Sorry, but this system doesn't make sense and is not used in any sport on the planet coz its is not based on "best team wins"
No cuz I get what Hiswattson's saying... match point is kinda lame. Furia was clearly the best team in the lobby by a mile and were 10 points ahead just to lose like is frustrating
