Yeah, the thing that weirds me out about the healer thing is it didn't need to be so combative right away. The devs are historically open to ideas and criticism. Someone walked up to Yoshi-P at a con and asked him if he could make the controller vibrate when your duty pops if your window is alt-tabbed and it was in the game in the next update. They listen, you just need to ask. And it's never as simple as "add this spell back." There's a lot that goes into decisions like this, things that affect millions of players all at once. When they change things, it's not backpedaling to previous eras. They overhaul and rework to make someone new and fresh. Healers do need work, I agree. Lots of things do. But a strike (if you can call it that) is not the answer. Especially when the strike itself doesn't disrupt. lol I'm glad they don't wanna disrupt players, but... that does mean it's pointless. They might get the attention from the devs like they want, but it'll be put forth with this air of mock hostility, now. The message they send with a healer strike is that the devs are on the opposite side of us. I don't believe that at all, they just have a lot on their list of things to do. Plus, Dawntrail is almost out. Some of these issues might get addressed soon. It's bizarre they didn't wait to see if the new expansion was going to overhaul healers. If they stayed the same with no promise of an update, then go ahead and bring the topic up again. I just don't like the needless bickering, really. Also, they made the cutest job ever so I might never be a healer ever again. Pictomancer is... like, come on. It was made for me. I hate doing DPS. They made Pictomancer to make me WANT to do DPS.

@@Kodiie They changed the benchmark and release version of character creation. That is one. They improve payment for VISA upon complaints. That is another one. What you talking about?

This wasn't "right away". The initial healer thread he read is from 2020. This became combative after we were ignored for four years.

The problem is they are historically not that responsive and reactive. Especially to NA and EU concerns. They listen to JP, it was the JP mooncat community that got the benchmark trailer fixed quickly. Lukile and company are coping as battered healers do.

I think it was ingenious tbh. What better buzzword could've been used, and what better time could there have been than right before the release of the expansion that would have had the same result? Seriously, tell me. The dev team is also likely working on 8.0 changes right now. If they tried to reach out, yet again after 7.5, 7.3, or even 7.1 it would already be too late. I think you guys are right. There's some serious Darth Jar Jar vibes going on and there is no way Yoshi and SE are not aware of this.

My visa debit charges to my recurring sub but I cannot use it for the mogstation optional items lol. I was worried my sub wouldn't go through after trying to buy something on the mogstation but it did somehow.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If it was done in a petition way, it wouldn't make for as good headlines would it? xD. Also it's mostly people being tired of playing healer so they're playing something else this time. I haven't healed in FFXIV since ShB cause I disliked the direction it was going. No need to agree on all points, the biggest part was actually having people talking about this, and poof now it happends. It's great to hear more healer opinions on what could be done to improve the role and make it more fun on all levels, not only ultimate/savage. And hopefully more people disliking their own job direction start discussing job design in general.

It's honestly about time. Healers got lobotomized in Shadowbringers and then our feedback on how boring their "rotation" is has been ignored for 4 years. I mean come on, you press something like 130 Broils per savage pull. And while I do play Savage content (I have cleared every Savage on content and two of the Ultimates), I don't think it's acceptable that dungeons do as little damage as they do. It's understandable it needs to be easy enough to clear for anyone, but it shouldn't be so easy that I I am mostly just mashing out Holy for the whole dungeon. Incoming party damage needs to come up pretty dramatically. Overall, I agree with and support the healer strike. The interesting thing about your comment that this is a "very specific group of people who have been healing for a long time and don't realize how good they are" is that most coverage of the healer strike has been the exact opposite. Calling us casuals who don't really know how to play the game. It feels weird being bounced back and forth between being called a casual and an elitist. "I don't need Selene back" okay but I do. I need Selene back. SAVE SELENE. I do think it's a little silly to kind of laugh and poke at the strike when it's the first thing we've done that succeeded in getting attention. The original healer complaint thread was started in 2020 and nobody covered it. We repackage it with a strike and suddenly it's common knowledge. I think it was really uncalled for to insult the people making the thread by calling them obnoxious or holier than thou. Especially when you then went on to call them "fucking dumb", which I think is...significantly more holier than thou. At least hypocritical.

Fully support and intend on participating in the healer strike. Nothing to lose by doing so and hopefully enough people will talk about it that Square Enix will have to acknowledge it

The healer strike is one of the most idiotic propositions I've ever heard. While its true that healing is not hard if your ENTIRE party plays PERFECTLY the reality is the vast majority of groups never do. The xenosys video showing the first dungeon cleared without a healer proves nothing. A group of sweats can pretty much do anything if they are good enough and try hard enough. The first ultimate was cleared by a group of 8 tanks, does that mean that DPS jobs are unnecessary now? Anyone who plays a healer with random people have had experiences with tanks doing chain pulls using no cooldowns and people getting hit by telegraphed boss moves constantly, so healers are very much a necessity, that the top healers and the sweats are not satisfied with the job hardly speaks for the other 95% of players.

Xeno plays warrior, so I'd argue they did have a healer. Claiming you don't need a healer when you play warrior is like...bruh half your abilities are heals.

I think they should start at either 30 or 50. I get why it is the way it is, but it's weird they get progressively harder for people to unlock who maybe aren't as far into the game, and then you just get all those skills thrown at you so you spend like 20 minutes trying to even sort them all. And then you're at such a high level trying to get used to something, you're basically a jump potion player.

@@Dragonsamuari they do constantly want new players coming into the game and that would be one of the best ways to keep players interacting with new ones and at the same time keeping old content relative. They try to do this already with all moogle events, wondrous tales and roulettes. Why not just drop it down and embrace the thing fully. It will also help people learn their jobs a little bit more.

@@Boyzby When a high level job becomes available in a new expansion, I actually go into Sastasha first just to get a feel for it. From there I work my way up through each MSQ dungeon until I've figured out what button does what.

They should remove telegraphs for 4 party dungeons mobs. That'd make healing more active, and player awareness more involved. Mobs also need to attack more frequently with tick damage and do more AOEs (untelegraphed) a lot more. Tank's HP should be falling to 50% like every 10 seconds, but not on a strict "big damage" schedule like it is now. Randomly do big damage but at intervals no greater than every 10 seconds. Keep everyone on their toes.

I miss Aurum Vale 2nd boss not having telegraphs. Also explains why Monster Hunter EX is my fav trial. Need more fights like that, to pay attention to boss animations than looking at the ground 95% of the time.

the additions to healers for DT are clearly the devs attempts to address the concerns raised by the healer strike, too, so it's extra funny watching all this happen knowing it'll end up just like that xiv billboard. just a hilarious footnote for the community and point of mockery from outsiders.

Attempt is a great word for it. An extra button we press every 2min. Such amazing display and understanding of what we want. Sage is crazy, they get an extra button every 1 minute wow!

I'm a WHM main and I see a tank who uses their toolkit effectively like once a week at most. People who post this stuff clearly don't do regular DF with random strangers. Saying there's no difference between regen and barrier healers is a joke, healing content you don't know yet as a barrier healer is a different beast entirely. I would like a little bit more of an engaging dps kit on bosses but that's about it. Trash pulls when the tank pulls hard are plenty engaging 11 times out of 10, unless I get that one WAR who breathes their kit and presses the exact right button 100% of the time.

I'm kinda surprised they don't like the community outreach there, have you guys not played any other MMO before? I feel people are right to complain about the extremely lackluster class design of ffxiv. The type of protest is kinda odd, but there is a community outreach within it that may have an effect.

I really feel like almost EVERY class now fell victim to the sheer mass of classes in this game. I feel like SE should now stop implementing new jobs and instead AT LEAST use two full expansions for fixing the existing classes AND improving the overall system

The healer strike is ridiculous. Is their issues with healers along with the fact tanks are a bit to powerful in certain content? (Especially Warrior) Sure, but if a party doing a dungeon without a healer is what caused people to have enough this strike should have happened in Stormblood or possibly even earlier. Premades doing dungeons without a healer is not a new thing at all.

@@shirox11 So do you think it's been so long now that people shouldn't be allowed to be unhappy with the design? For me, personally, I didn't start disliking healing until 2020. Stormblood healer was a blast. So I saw no need to complain before we got lobotomized.

@@Riritenno i’m not saying you shouldn’t be dissatisfied, i’m saying it should have happened earlier if you want it to accomplish anything. The vast majority of people are still gonna play DT launch as normal because the fear of missing out in an MMO is the most powerful thing. The expansion launch is the worst possible time to have a meaningful impact because no meaningful change will come until the next expansion.

I read the lodestone version of the strike and it's just nonsense as usual. Who cares about normal dungeons, job balancing are always at higher level content. Also they are asking for more DPS spells and less oGCD spells. While ignoring their other healer brethren camp that wants LESS DPS spells and more healing/buffing spells.

No. Tanks are equally as important but don't get the same treatment that healers do. There is a reason that healers are the least played role despite their extreme simplicity, while tanks have more difficulty yet still have healthy player numbers.

@@BaithNa 1) Easy =/= No Depth. Tanks have a much higher skill ceiling than Healers even if they also have a low skill floor. 2) If Tanks were designed like Healers then they wouldn't have a damage rotation and they'd keep boss hit boxes huge so positioning doesn't matter. If they did this people would rightfully be frustrated.

Waiting to see people mad at the awful queue times and errors during the early access. EW was the first and last time i will ever attempt to play early, everything was fixed more or less by the time early access was over lmao. I do find it really weird how sage really just is a better scholar when it was advertised as the dps healer. The only difference is it can attack and move,it doesn't have any more dps skills. They need to bring back class identities,sage can be the highest dps but lower heal output healer let white mage stay the generic raw healer,make astro regen man like give it 500 potency regens or some other ridiculous bs and make scholar lean fully into pure barriers.

Which is funny, because the people making the posts have been found out to not ever participate in any endgame activities at all, so they *really* don't know what they're talking about. Makes the whole thing be easily dismissed.

I have cleared every savage tier in the game on content when it was relevant and I have two ultimate clears. Nice strawman tho, real easy to beat up on people when you just assume what level of content they play.

Meh, any random cat lady and every beer gut bloke in the game has to be able to clear Story content, so who cares. Bring back hard mode dungeons tho, more and harder content would be nice. Crying over Story dungeons is obviously not it , if you want to take 50 minutes you can solo it on WAR if you wanna kite and holmgang every pack... Currently, the game is too easy for sure, so add hard modes etc.

TBF we have trusts and easy/very easy solo duties. Dungeons don't have to be very easy once you do group content. But I agree, we need more mid-core stuff.

@@TheOneGreat the thing is the game is designed around dont stand in stuff so if you dont stand in stuff you wont take damage, i mean obviously there are ways to make it harder but then again do you want 30+ minute Roulette dungeons? Just make the harder stuff its own content, if im in a hard Mode dungeon with decent rewards im fine with long runs but not if im farming Roulettes or tomes (that stuff is too easy but still doesnt need to be over tuned, less current Experte Roulette pls tho that stuff is way to easy)

@@Horstveratu I mean, I'm playing a game. If it's not fun why do it in the first place? If it's fast but boring I'd rather have longer and engaging. Not necessarily hard, but give me something to do. Give me debuffs to cleanse, buffs to give, anything. And doing AoE#1 + #2 does nothing for me. That being said, why can't we have a min ilvl roulette or some such. What we need is options along with mid-core content.

@@Horstveratu I don't subscribe to the idea that if something is boring eventually it should be boring from the get-go. Dungeons are boring the second you repeat them. At least to me. The fights are too static along with the jobs so the end result is, well, static. Imagine they'd put time into developing modifiers for them and suddenly the 100 or so grind dungeons have the potential to be something else but MSQ fodder, while still being easy in their original state. Bit of a shame that it feels like they're only going through the motions with 'em.
