Distant Worlds Playlist: • Final Fantasy 16 Away ... Final Fantasy Concert Distant Worlds 07-07-2024 FF16 OST sound track music Joshua Phoenix Theme Music Orchestra
Finally we get to hear this music as it was meant to be heard. My one and only problem with Soken's music, both in XVI and XIV is that he patently refuses to try to upgrade his production software or use an orchestra, and I feel it really hampers the sound of his compositions. Listening to this recording though, even through subpar audio quality, you can immediately hear that he clearly has the compositional chops to be considered a genius. He just really needs to stop holding himself back from his refusal to embrace modern production technology.
It’s not him, it’s the funding. CS3 makes most of the revenue coming into Square via 14. Yet SE gives them very little of the overall budget. What would you rather have as a game director thousands spent on an orchestra or good gameplay and other aspects of the game. You could be like Rebirth which had mostly reused orchestral music with pretty mid gameplay or a heavy gameplay focus with good but under performing (in the delivery side) music.
I actually think that's intentional on his part. It really gives the music that classic Final Fantasy feel that most of the post FF10 soundtracks have lacked.
I think there’s a few factors in this actually. Soken often prefers to complete his scores with full knowledge of the visual info that will be occurring. With so many moving parts in game dev, this can result in an ungodly crunch for orchestras to be able to fully render the volume of music composed if you consider practice time and all the expense. COVID also may have had some impact on assembling orchestras, but that’s guessing on my part. Having said all that, I do agree and really wish Soken would just splash out on just vst library a bit because it does his compositions a huge injustice otherwise, stillwind and the version of ascension in the Bahamut fight before the space section really suffer for it.
While this arrangement doesn’t quite have the power/gusto of the original for me, the choir are KILLING it! The lyrics for this game are beautiful bits of poetry and this choir have incredible diction that really makes the lyrics soar in a way they don’t in the game.
You are MY HERO. No one here in Tokyo made any videos 😥😥 including me 😂 but because of that I could not relive the moment! Thank you for risking taking videos!
@@andreapugliese53Probably not good since they are planning to do this concert worldwide. If one films in Tokyo and uploads it, then people may not want to go watch it live if it comes to their place.
Indeed the above; in general here in Jap it’s forbidden to take pics or vids at any concert while we can abroad. For example when I went to the distant world in london few years ago it was ok. Here in Jap is forbidden. But it SUCKS because then you cannot relive it at all.
I'm not sure why but there's something off about this arrangement, or maybe the camera didn't capture it completely or something. I hope better quality recordings will be released soon.
I’m pretty sure the original did use a real orchestra. Also, there are some different harmonies and melodies that are going on in the background which is probably why you like this version better
The original does use a live orchestra. It’s in the credits soundtrack sheet along with every “Epic” vocal song. Not everything in the soundtrack uses a live orchestra on the liner notes but 7 doesn’t either.
