The best way to get the Genji Shield if octoslash does not show up is when the pot says it is bored you can forfeit the battle and it will give you the chance to restart the encounter as much as you want.
For the octaslash chance to go up, i did this, and you should too: -equip ONLY 3 base-level octaslash materia, NO OTHER MATERIA -go to mission 1-1-1 -kill all the sentries until the last one, DO NOT KILL IT -tape down your guard button -wait If you have the protect ring and the buster sword, chances are guarding will make the sentry deal 0 damage. Also, use moogle power if you roll it on the DMW. Now, stay like this until your three octaslash materia are levelled to atleast level 3-4 each. Then, equip gil toss and costly punch, and head to 7-6-6. Also, fun fact, magic pot asks 5 times for a move. Use the move on his 5th request to further extend the time allotted for octaslash to roll. If you don't roll it on the octaslash request, forfeit and restart the battle. (And for the 99 999 Move, i usually use a battle stance costly punch.)
Omg I almost missed this! I finished the game a saved over it for new game + not realising I’d lose all my missions!!! The only way I managed to get them back was by downloading the save from the PlayStation plus cloud, which would have been overwritten if I had switched off the console! 😬😬😬
I wasn’t getting any closer waiting on seph to pop up so I threw on a jeweled ring to boost up my luck by 20 and I started hitting more dmws. Then by my 2-3rd try after I did that I got octoslash to come up
I've rolled 2 Sephiroths 3 times now. First time, it went into Summon mode. Seocnd, Chocobo mode. Third, it started showing images and Magic Pot said Borrrring before they could finish. Sephiroth, STOP GIVING ME DESPAIR! >
Awesome, a lot of great tips in the comments I used to finish it in 10 minutes after I failed for 30 minutes. You can stack Lucky Stars [Cissnei Limit] and boost the limit bar to Heavenly on an easier map before you enter 7-6-6 for an easier DMW Octoslash. Before entering, save the game if you mess up so you don't have to grind to the Heavenly limit bar again. Equip two Octoslash materia, then equip your Gil Toss, Costly Punch, Graviga [if you want to play it safe], and Dash. Just hug the walls and run to the boss and use the last two points to spawn Magic Pot. If he doesn't appear, use Dash to run quickly and Escape. Once Magic Pot appears hit it with the proper order when it calls for it. Make sure to use Buster Sword stance before hitting the pot with a second Costly Punch for 99K damage or use Graviga. If you hit the pot without the Buster Sword stance you'll get 97K damage (happened to me twice). With two Octoslash materia equipped you should have a really good chance on the DMW triggering Octoslash. If you don't get it before he starts getting bored, just do what the other commenters said and Forfeit the fight. I could've finished it in my first few tries but I messed up the 99K damage by not doing the Buster Sword stance and just as I did that Octoslash triggered and the pot ran away.
I have all the things needed to get the shield. I have run all round Mission 7-6-6 looking for the pot and still I could not find. Can someone please tell me or show me a map picture where this creature might show up in.
I'm in the same boat, I have magic pot unlocked on the dmv and been running back and forth for 3 hours and got 1 pot. He ran away on me because I didn't have octslash ready. So frustrating.
First you need to break the damage limiter by getting the “Brutal” accessory. Can’t remember which mission (probably 7-4-6). To get 99999, just use Graviga on Magic Pot
