I honestly don't recall struggling this much in Remake but that was a while ago. You, my friend, are a legend for making these videos! Keep up the great work. I already have 79/88 trophies. And my greatest fear is the 2 remaining HARD cactuar mode and also those playmobile and robot controlling HARD mini games !
@@MeemHaMeemDhal--khaYaRaWawNun don't be scared of the cactuar mini game. Tips that help: speed is all you really need. Get the Hermes Shoes on whoever is playing the game and make sure you have atb boost and first strike. With yuffie: windstorm and doppelganger is your key to victory. When yuffie is holding her shuriken,, windstorm is magical damage, when she throws her shuriken, windstorm is physical damage. The only issue you'll have is the giant cactuars, but if you've been building up the Banishment with your windstorms, it should take them out or get very close. Aerith is a bit trickier, but only because she uses abilities that are never used again. You only need sorcererous storm and transcendence for skills (some people like chrono aegis to stop those small guys tackle, but i never used it). Two massive differences in her combat is that she will actually deal physical damage with her staff so long as she is outside of a Ward. Another huge difference is that her Tempest when she's outside of a ward becomes a Warp to an enemy she's focused on. This helps hunt down those runners. When she's inside of a ward, everything she does is per normal (ranged magic attacks and tempest on holding square). Don't be scared to use her Ward Shift to quickly dodge or get back in place. You'll do great

Perfect guide. After banging my head against the wall for over an hour and not clearing even round 4, I tried this quake spam and beat it first try. Round 10 was ultra scuffed and had three deaths but I just used Arise and saved it with quake and comet spam inside the arcane ward.
Hell yeah dude, A+ strategy! The Tonberry King and Joker wrecked me on my first attempt. 🤦♂️ IMO it's safest to cast magnified Stop ASAP instead of luring them to clump together. I was dreading this challenge, but I cleared it on my second try by following this vid. Thank you so much!

This is a great guide but my FPS only gamer mindset is setting me back. This is one of the best games I've played period. I'm not going for Platinum anymore because it'll ruin the way I see this masterpiece. I'm not good enough for games outside FPS and that's okay. Good luck to all you Platinum hunters. If this is one of the best games you've ever played, you must have played about 3. This is 90% overrated crap. You shouldn't need to beat mini games and do challenges with ONE WAY to get it done just to complete a game. This here? It's not skill based. If it were, there would be multiple ways to beat it like any good rpg. Play Elden Ring for contrast: 20 ways to kill every boss. Fuck this garbage.
Best guide ever. Without your guide this challenge is really hard! But now it’s become so easy with predictable result. I did a small modification: switch magic efficiency with magic focus on Cloud (with mp absorb, there is actually no shortage of mp) The foes were dead even faster!
Man, Cait Siths debuff extensions really do come in clutch. I tried used Barret first as the Stop guy thinking that it wouldnt make much of a difference. Spent several hours failing, finally swtiched to Cait Sith and got it on my second try lmao thank you so much for this guide, absolute lifesaver!
Wanted to give a _HUGE_ thanks to you for this as after getting one-shot ENDLESSLY in lame & frustrating circumstances for _hours_ with other approaches, I cleared this on my second attempt with your core strategy. I ended up switching the lineup up a little bit as some of the Materia that you suggested wasnt fully leveled, so I made up for it by using Cait, Aerith, & Yuffie instead. That way, I could use a tiny fraction of extra time to set up her Doppelgänger, so that each cast was throwing out 4x Quaga which would cover for my Stop not lasting quite as long or being as powerful overall. A _MASSIVE_ sigh of relief, and you can bet I'm headed to the other videos to see strategy tips for those now.
Oh my god thank you! This one was kicking my ass, but thanks to your guide I made quick work of it (although I'll admit it still took a couple tries on that third round haha). I love your detailed commentary during the whole challenge so I know what to do and why I'm doing it- I've seen other guides that show the player doing it without really explaining what they're doing, which makes it hard to follow. Your guides are super helpful, man! I'm super close to the platinum now.
Bro... I just finished this challenge by the SKIN OF MY TEETH after watching this guide and trying several times. On the very last round things went to shit and my whole party was down, it was just me Cloud vs the Joker and I was frantically trying to build ATB for that final kill shot while he flew around and lobbed who knows what at me that could kill me any second and just as he was casting destiny I smashed him with a level 2 Quaga that staggered him, and I flew in for the final kill with my limit it was epic. Thank you I couldn't have made it to the end of round 10 without this strategy.
Thanks for the guide brother. Took a few tries but I got it done. I did put the Genji Glove on cloud instead of the fury ring. Helped break through the 9999 barrier and do more damage. Cheers.
Does anyone notice that sometimes the characters won't do an ability that you request when you're doing lots of switching around of characters quckly? e.g. Aerith won't cast the arcane ward, or Cait doesn't cast stop. Really fking annoying...

Last comment I swear. I finally beat it yesterday. I see what people mean about this game's difficulty spike actively making fans hate the game, it is absolutely draining. I got stuck on this using your strategy, so I went away on a mission. To try and get through as much of the hard mode playthrough using my characters as materia mules, maxxing them out along the way. It worked, to a degree, and I got to the Cosmo Canyon chapter and peaced out because Gi Nattak is apparently one of the toughest bosses in the game and I still wasn't ready. So I popped it on easy mode and did the Gongaga Loop for days, finally completing all my materia. I knew I couldn't avoid it any longer, and attempted Hellion's Intonement. Using your strat, it took my five attempts but yesterday morning I finally did it. But the fuel is just completely out of my tank now, and I cannot bring myself to dedicate time to the next one, Seventh Seal. I have the setup ready to go and after having Kid G hand my arse to me twice I'm done. So now I'm considering trying to get past Gi Nattak and pushing through Hard Mode but honestly....the difficulty spike is sucking my soul. Wish me luck, guys!
This is a class guide. Though I still can’t do it, I either lose too much magic which means I can’t afford to use Quakega near the end, or I can’t get them to stagger in time. I’m level 70 but some of the materia isn’t up to MAX maybe this is the problem also. Great walkthrough though just have to keep going at it

Seriously, Square; if you don't want causal gamers like me looking up guides like this (No offense, Optinoob) on saving myself time and trouble, don't make your challenges you put into your games this brutal (as their names imply)! Thank you so very much this was my first attempt at this and I followed everything to a T . I did a modification though instead of fury I added Genji Gloves for more power to Cloud damage since he has full power magic plus with Aerith I added materia to boost magic damage Faith. I was lucky Tonberry instant kill Cloud but Cloud ended it in the end.
Are Genji Gloves better than Fury Ring for this?? I happened to bite the bullet and faced Quetzalcoatl and Malboro on hard to get the items for Genji Gloves
The first 3 challenges, Quaga is king. But not so much for this challenge. I tried your strat and reach Round 10 on many tries and just couldn’t get past it. The “Too Bad, So Sad” ATB Ward/Haste/Brumal Form strat reigns supreme and I finally beat this and got my 3rd Magnify materia. Thanks Noob, love your content keep it up!

You make it look ridiculously easy lol after struggling with different builds and party comps, I'm gonna give this one a go. I finished the game without knowing there was a quake spell 🙃💀 mainly because it's literally called "petrify" instead of earth like in the OG, so I never even bothered using it, I thought it would just apply the petrify status on enemies, like when you cast stop. Silly me.
Absolute hero for these guides, I still don't know if I'll end up getting the platinum but if I stick it out then it's largely down to videos like this. Never in a million years would I have done this fight without step by step guidance 👏🏻👏🏻

Very nice! I just hate that the game doesn’t let us set materia loadouts, because I like to mostly keep everyone with a general purpose set of materia that will work for 99% of the game without making many changes so that I can just enjoy the story without juggling materia all the time. Setting this up will be a pain in the ass to get back to my usual set-up afterwards.
For real brother, this was my issue as well. I was hesitant at first to try these guides since it's gonna mess my setup and I'm lazy to arrange it again. But these brutal challenges are just well.. brutal, so I had no choice but to try these cheese strats. Hopefully in part 3 they introduce a loadout system.
Thank you! Over the last 2 weeks, I have worked 5-8 hours on this battle. Using your build, I was able to win this one. The longest I have put in to win a battle was Archfiends in Musclehead Arena. Spent about 15 hours to beat it. Wondered why all the brag videos made it look so easy... I chapter selected off hard mode and rolled all remaining battles within 1 hour.
Amazing guide as always! I was about to do it on my first try until that Tornberry eluded the stop and killed all party members xD. Your strategies are pure greatness! Keep up the great work mate!
After 5 hours leveling up the required materias and then following your guide it only took 5 tries, mainly coz enemies kept moving away from each other especially the birds lol Thanks you’re the man
Are these challenges cheap? Yes. Is it fair to use cheap tactics against them? Most definitely. You cannot believe the satisfaction of seeing those stupid worms eat dirt. Be warned to everyone else though: The Adjudicator (fight 3), the stupid white wolf (fight 5), the hecteyes (fight 8), the adamantoise (fight 9), and the tonberry/joker (final fight) have very specific conditions that need to be set-up. Please pay attention to the guide. Nothing hurts more than a good run spoiled by a misclick :( Also, I don't know if it's a bug: but if you're too "excited" in pressing your command menu before the "first strike" atb takes effect, you can find yourself mysteriously short from 1 ATB.
Got these first four challenges done in one evening thanks to these guides. (Though most of my time was grinding AP needed to finish things like the Swiftcast Materia.) This set was the only one I failed at due to some simple mistakes - forgot about the Reflect on the Adjudicator, failed on the Disgorgon/Hecteyes placement, and fatally hesitated on re-Stopping the Tonberry King. I’ll probably take a break to master these last Elemental and Magnify Materias before proceeding further. Many thanks for the guides.
Thanks again for this strat, maxing out the Magic Up materia and the absorption and efficiency really made the difference! I wasn't having any issues with lack of mp or all that....but my goodness this took like 3 hours worth of tries and my nerves are shot after this. I'm glad to see you already have a guide up for Seventh Seal. I'll probably try that tomorrow but I need a break. Practically having a nervous breakdown over this junk. The sad thing is I imagine the Hard Mode story playthrough isn't anywhere near as bad as this and definitely won't be anywhere near as bad as the final legendary combat sim fight is. Heard its an hour long fight.
Same, got all the way to the end and the Tonberry King insta-killed Cloud. 15 minutes wasted, so frustrating. Ten rounds of BS enemies is way too long a gauntlet.
I beat hard mode yesterday before tackling these, stuck on this challenge. Figure it's time for a break. Sucks because I love this game and want the plat, but I figure after a good break I'll grind some materia and follow these guides. I want to play other games for a bit.

I tossed on a little Fire for Aerith to grind down that adamantoise faster, and I dunno if y'all have this stuff where you're at but I call this the 'Shake 'n Bake' build. Worked out really nicely, and I appreciate all the work you're putting into these videos. Cheers!
Anyone else keep having to issue Aerith to Arcane Ward more than once? She immediately opens with a swing, and if i tell her to ward most of the time she just completely ignores it and i have to tell her again...
Many thanks, this was definitely the simplest build out there. I did find having both support party members having Raise (with Arise) helped a ton with #3 & #5 where you can't count on an automatic staggering / early wipeout. Much appreciated! On to the Seventh Seal....
The last fight is pure RNG. I've lost it twice already because Joker decided to go after Aerith rather than walk closer to the Tonberry King... If they don't close in on their own it's impossible to win. Edit: that's three now... Joker moves away from the Tonberry, it's over.
@@tranhuy7575 What worked for me was casting Sleep with Cait on the Tonberry, then focusing on Joker. Double Quaga does a lot of damage to him. Bring Dispel on Aerith or Cait in case he buffs himself, and go at him while recasting Sleep on the Tonberry as needed (works up to three times, although it's less effective each time). If you're quick enough you can kill Joker and still have Stop to perma-stop the Tonberry and kill him before he wrecks your team. Good luck!

I hate this challenge so much. It's definitely the hardest so far. They really need checkpoints for this man! I love your strategy Opti, it's got me to round 10 so many times. I just can't get it down. I dunno if it's because I just can't focus once I get to round 10 or what. Of course, I'm going to keep trying. The fact that I've got to round 10 means I must be doing something right ... would you be down to shareplay this with me as a last resort?

Maybe I just need to take a break and come back to it another time. Might have to religiously study the guide as well as I tried to go along with you. Purely amazing!! Wish I found this sooner as other builds weren't working for me. Copied this and completed it 1st time!!! =) Only materia I didn't have maxed were my Magic Focus (both 4*), Swiftcast (4*), and MP Absorb (2*). Played step-by-step and although I had a few character deaths, Aerith always on 2 ATB meant I could use Arise in those panic moments and even used her Ray of Judgement on a final staggered enemy to help out! Found it helpful to use her ATB Boost before using Arcane Ward just for piece of mind (if needing to cast Arise or Reraise). Big thanks!! Can't wait to watch the guides for the fights to come
I tried this tactic and while it worked wonders, I am still struggling with round 9 (that stupid turtle) and I die at round 10 because of that damn Tonberry even with whats used here
Update: THANK GOD I FINALLY DONE IT!!! Needed to take a day break to relax myself and today I done it third try, incredible video and guide, thank you!!! (Also an advice: You need to do almost everything in order in 9/10th rounds or your screwed 😂)
for those that maybe don't know it, like me for the past day, you need to max out all materia levels if you want to use the last lvl spell. so the 4 time materia's on sith, all need to be at max lvl or the effect of the blue materia won't work on stop. found out the hard way that my swiftcast, and both magic focus weren't really having an effect. I bought 3 for this guide, they were 200AP away from max when I found out
How do you manage to not get slaughtered at the last round? I've never managed getting the Joker and Tonberry King close enough together to get hit by one quagaga without losing at least one party member.
What worked for me was casting magnified Stop immediately, and recasting it the moment Stop wore out. Either enemy can wreck you in seconds if you give them a turn. For safety, you can cast Reraise with Aerith while the enemies are frozen.
Beat it on my 5th attempt. What helped me was whenever 1 enemy remained turn off magnify on time (lasts longer) or Quaga (hits harder). On round 10 make sure they are close together before you start your loop, and having revival for Aerith saved me once. Thanks again.

Finally got it after maxing out my materia. Boy do i not recommended you try this without doing that first. I made a minor edit to your build forgoing two of the autocast on cloud for warding subversion since i was getting stuck on the tonberry but with the extra stats from the maxed materia i melted that last fight. Thanks for the set up!!
FUCK THIS ONE!!!!!!! My god. Who the absolute fuck though having the White wolf, 2 sand worms, Death Eye, Adamantoise, Joker and TONBERRY KING!!!!, in the same 10 round gauntlet was a fine idea. This is the third hardest, and doesn’t include the Legendary bouts either, and this is harder than Weiss and Pride and Joy Prototype…. COMBINED!!!!
@@damcrac Don't think Mike has watched this one, as all those enemies are pretty much frozen, the 2 sandworms as an example, they are dead in about 6 seconds XD

Venting at this challenge as a whole, as I’ve been trying for 3 days now and haven’t even gotten to the king yet, the furthest I ever got was killing death eye, but then Adamantoise got me immediately after. Does this strategy per chance work for either of the next 2 as well? Or are they completely different

Yup same for me, they buffed it for sure. Using this exact method I m nowhere near the same behaviour. Try the Yuffie Doppelganger method. At least I get to the last battle. Great guide still !

this game is just too hard idk what they were thinking, this isnt even fun its just "hey break our game to win these overly tuned fights!!" such a shame cause this is such a good game and then they straight up throw a wrench in it with these challenges. ive had to take so many breaks from this shit for my mental health and im just gonna give up. games should be FUN.
Then don't play the challenges? You had hundreds of hours of fun, and then you want to subject yourself to something you say causes strain on your mental health? Just stop playing. @@21BigHervwhile I think the comment about him having cheats on is absolutely laughable, so much to the point I have to wonder if they’re being serious, to be completely fair you are still very much at the mercy of the second to second enemy RNG for all of these fights. They just simply won’t always be in the places you want them to be all the time. While this strat is a great and very effective one and certainly minimizes a LOT of bullshit, there’s still always SOME luck involved. It’s really just about continuing to use the strategy and until RNG is in your favor until you get it down.

Thats exactly what the easy means here 'The Easiest you can make it' in the confines of the challenge and the games own difficulty. lt doesnt mean that it becomes a 1/10 difficulty, though I can see the confusion. Its the easiest that it can be done
small update to this build lift meteor and set fire to aerith (cast faster and will give you an extra hand in challenges 4-8-9) when an enemy goes into stun, immediately switch to Cat, use the moguori and the punch ability, which will raise the stun to 270 destroying every enemy in a short time. all this makes the ride a little slower, but safer unfortunately meteora is very linked to lucky and the positioning of enemies on the ground. obviously mine are small changes, I have to thank optionoob for this build
