I just realised Cloud: Not bad, Mr. President, but you’ll never be a SOLDIER Rufus: Enough of this farce It kind of circles back to Rufus telling Cloud he read his file in Junon, telling him it was gripping and enlightening. He knows Cloud was never in SOLDIER
You are talking bs, don't make yourself smarter than you are. The only way to hit him is while he is reloading or use disorder before he uses an abbility or afterwards, otherwise he will block/dodge you and harm you.
Disorder is super good in general - they nerfed Focused Strike, but they kept Disorder and Mug as ATB refund options. If you successfully hit an enemy with it, you get a big chunk of ATB refunded and can keep using more commands. It was good in Remake, but in Remake you had to pair it with ATB Assist or Skill Master to get the most out of it, or Intergrade's version of Synergy. In this game you can do that + have the Plasma Discharge builds to spam it, although IIRC Yuffie Mug is superior. HP MP Swap is the other big boost here, since lower HP boosts how quickly you gain Limit Gauge, which is a big part of why you see so much Limit spam in this video. Damage + s + a decent amount of pressure all in one. That's why all the Plasma Discharge builds spam it in this game. But obviously low HP is insanely dangerous if you can't dodge or perfect guard all the enemies abilities consistently, and one slip up practically translates to death.
My fight took 10 full minutes because it consisted of me running around Rufus gathering ATB with the airwave ranged attacks so that I could use Focused Thrust every time he reloaded. Rinse and repeat. Took forever but I managed lmao.
Rufus, you've got a company or to run, the world is ending, and Sephiroth is still running around. Yet you're still making time to brawl in an amusement park with a twink because you're angry he beat you once?
Square Enix knew what they doing when they make that material, it like they watching ff7 remake video to study the player, Especially there alot no damage video on remake and that probably give Square Enix a idea to give HP-MP material for No damage material, I definitely will never use that material 😂 not my style, I more of a trophy hunter myself but good for no damage gamer like this guy playing on this video 😂
i think the key to this fight is knowing how much you can attack him after pressuring with a regular attack, pressuring with an ability makes staggering easier but there are plenty of times where its not easy/if you use a regular attack instead its hard to know when hes gonna blast at you again exactly, but it seems youve mastered it, well done awesome fight
For people who don't have the reaction to do this in a similiar way, here's a solid easy tactic for normal: - Skills / equip: limit charge on block / stagger, gi acc with limit on block, sword with limit charge bonus or sword with +50 defense - Materia: Steadfast block / hp / chakra / healing / itemizer - Phase 1: constantly block, dodge heavy attacks, wait for limit meter to fill and activate it as soon as he is near and stands still - Phase 2 exactly the same, keep Rufus locked on, ignore the dog, dodge heavy attacks, wait for limiter and activate it, keep HP >50% to survive the heavy combo attack It takes maybe 2 limits each phase to kill him. For fine tuning wear maybe the "limit level +1" accessoire instead for more limit dmg and wear the sword with +50 defense, accessoire with focus on defense. Barrier / Protect buff is also quite nice for survival but wasn't necessary.
@@TruStoogeDrew. "5% Limit charge on block/stagger" are both folio skills of Cloud. What do you mean with "how do you do any of that"? Just constantly block with R1 until limit meter is full and attack, dodge the heavy attacks (mostly by dodging away).
For everyone struggling with him: Triple Slash and Braver are your friends (and Focused Thrust especially on the dog). Braver instantly staggers him when you hit him during Reload and Triple Slash 1. separates him from the dog and 2. interrupts pretty much all of his attacks. Focused Thrust is useful for obvious reasons, but it also pressures the dog instantly.
This is so sick! My favorite boss fight of the whole game and you make it look even cooler. How did you get the elemental material on the sword to swap? The fire and ice combo material?
The dual element materia applies both elements at the same time, though the game will always choose the better of the 2 options if it has the chance (i.e. fire for fire weakness or ice for ice weakness)
@@ksay6950 I hate to say it but for me, not including post game stuff and VR, this was probably the hardest and most annoying fight in the game for me next to the Cait Sith solo boss fight. (Seriously F that.)
@@nicolasgregory7207 omfg I hated Cait Sith part! I was happy to see the goofy enemies like Dorky Face and Jersey (yeah i know they changed the names) but they Yin Yang fight was annoying. But yeah Rufus was like nonstop attacks. I will try this guide today.
@@ksay6950 There was one other fight (before post game) that I did that I was RAGING and it was an arena fight using Aerith...against two bombs.... it was MISERABLE.
@@oOJopapaOo his HP is so low that any attack would basically kill him on contact, being that close to death severely ramps up limit generation on all actions (in this case the perfect guards for the most part)
You press triangle during a punisher combo to launch forward. I got the limit break twice by using the HP to MP conversion materia. Cloud's limit break meter will go up faster if the incoming damage is lethal.
@@driedsquire it does work but do you have any idea why using HP to MP gives you more limit than usual? Is it because it's insanely lethal since you die in one hit?
Hp-mp swap materia make you gain limit gauge super fast when you block the damage. Once you use the limit break the second before you get attacked, all damage will be regarded as blocked. Thus the loop happens.
Huh? Why do you get so much limit 😂 Is it cause of the hp/mp swap or is this cause of difficulty? 4:43 you did a limit break and got full limit break cause of immunity frames but normally this shoudn't be that effective to fill a full bar. Not even close so i would guess the hp/mp materia plays a big part in that since the damage would normally kill you multiple times even if this was on easy. Great fight! Learned something new 🔥
I haven’t had to fight the dog the last two times on hard. Doing enough damage on stagger then he brings the dog out , where I then do a level 3 limit with enhanced expeditionary medal and fights over
Guarding already generates some limit gauge, perfect guards generate even more. But the real kicker is the hp/mp swap materia equipped. Being near death (even though his hp was full, any hit would've been defeat) ramps up limit generation. Combine the options and you a limit every few perfect guards essentially
He was my only wall in remake, he was my only wall in rebirth, I swear to god if he ends up being my wall again in the 3rd installment, I’m going to ball my eyes out
“You’re still a shinra employee…at least on paper.” Me: why yall no pay me then? Also anyone else just imagine this man tearing through w2s’ looking for clouds file?
@@driedsquire I thought it would be cool if you can just Brave him after you get up in the air, but maybe the wind up animation is too slow to hit him? lol
Because he's countering Rufus's attacks. Notice he doesn't use ANY basic attacks unless Rufus is Staggered. Whenever Rufus is using an ability marked on the screen (Such as "Up in Smoke" or "Reload"), if you hit him during that time with an ability attack (Braver, Triple Slash, etc), you'll pressure him. If you just run at Rufus and slash at him, he'll counter you. You have to play the defensive game and wait for an opening.
No even if you pressure him, he'll counter a few hits in, check how he uses a move to go behind Rufus, and then ends the second combo early by dodging his counter.@@EmperorSteele
