List of enemy skills that give you the abilities you can use: Cerulean Drake uses Icy Aura ---> Algid Aura Phantom use essence drain ---> Spirit Siphon Bomb uses Apoptosis --> Self-Destruct (but also the Smogger, Trypapolis & Varghidpolis) Marlboro uses Bad Breath ---> Bad Breath
Enemy Skills are amazing. Just remember that they scale from Magic Attack. You can pair the e skill materia with hp absorb which absolutely stacks with the spirit siphon healing, and makes algid aura better. Secondly, an an Elemental Materia linked on your weapon will give that element to enemy skills. Algid aura can do two types of element damage at once that way! Third, enemy skills will benefit from some of your weapon upgrade abilities. Like elemental materia damage boost. Those 5% boosts for specific elements. Ability crit rate up... Anything that boosts your magic stat too. With both magic up materia on mythril saber and accounting for it's 20% magic boost at full mp, you can get you magic attack up to 502 on cloud. If you really spec out around enemy skill, it's absolutely amazing.
The self-Destruct skill can also bo obtaind by killing the mech like monsters that explode when defered just stand next to them there is a few with self destruct
Yeah these enemies do the attack after the fight even so it will only drop you to 1 hp. As long as you have enemy skill equipped it's really easy to get
Just a little tip; link HP consumption materia with enemy skill, preferably 3 star, and use Algid Aura with Spirit Siphon. You'll get more health back then you lose depending on the amount of enemies around you. Also, you can counter Tonberry's Chef's Knife with Cloud, and then use Stop while they're pressured to build stagger faster.
@@mateguin4106 yeah, but that doesn't do anything for it's Chef's knife as it's a physical attack. You can avoid it's Doom and Gloom with warding & subversion for sure.
@@mateguin4106 That also works on Self Destruct. You still take a bunch of damage, but it no longer instant kills you. And of course, linking Enemy Skill with HP Absorption renders the HP loss moot.
They should've put more ennemy skills, 4 is lackluster, but bad breath is just so good and its weird that it doesnt cost any mp. I hope to see a lot more in the next game.
Agreed on a basic level, but even these four abilities are broken AF with the right secondary Materia. Namely, linking the Enemy Skill with HP Absorption to turn Algid Aura into a second Spirit Siphon (They stack!), and Warding with Subversion to keep Self Destruct from killing you.
Got this game on Platinum trophy. Died 7 times from Sephiroth until I got the final kill with Barrett’s Maximum Fury and then Catastrophe Limit Break. This is a very tough game but enjoyed every bit of it.
FYI, Ward+Subversion will also nullify the insta-death effect of self-destruct. Linking Enemy Skill + HP Absorb will let you heal back some of the damage you deal.
Josh Beoulve I tried Ward + Subversion to nullify insta-death, it doesn’t work. I used it on the Tonberry and his chiefs knife ability still killed me. IDK about his doom and gloom ability though (also insta-death).
@@leonmyth5313to be fair, I haven't tried it against tonberry, but give it a with self-destruct. Word of caution though, you'll still take damage from SD but at least it shouldn't insta-kill you if you have enough HP left. This is where HP Absorb comes in.
A tip for the tanberry, you can counter his “chefs knife”. With clouds counter and the counter strike. If you do try this make sure you have revive on one of the others just in case you stuff up
The soul siphon can be obtained from several different enemies, assessed enemies will have a green comment at the bottom of explanation in enemy Intel, some scrolling required
Something im not sure you might know Jorr, is that when you have spirit siphon on and hp absorb paired with the E Skill materia, you gain EVEN more life. As well as you can equip an elemental magic of ice, fire, lightning etc and if you pair it with elemental materia in your weapon slot, i believe you get the damaging effects of it applied to the life drain of spirit siphon. Maybe give it a try to confirm but I had it on cloud and when i did those two materia pair combos i was gaining more health and doing more damage off the effect.
You can slow, and stop the Tonberry, but a nice spell to use on them is Blizzaga . It’ll knock the little guy off his feet, but the nice thing about that, is he takes a little bit to get back up 😈. So, from the start of the battles, cast stop, get ATB, when stop is about to wear off the Tonberry, get ready to cast Blizzaga. Then if lucky, you can use stop again or use Slow this time, then get Blizzaga ready again 😀
Getting “self destruct” is easy! Just stand next to the smoggy scrappers after you beat them.. you can find them in the collapsed freeway and mainly down the path at the entrance of sector 5. That’s how I got mine.
Wonder if we’ll still get manipulate manteria down the road. White wind , shadow flare and bad breath were always a few of my faves in the original game.
I liked very much this gameplay. But i've would like more if they add some news unique ability of characters, more various visual gameplay i mean, (more moves with cloud's swords, same for tifa and aerith)
I'd like to see a chapter 14 resolution event guide. It says I have 2 out of 3, but I don't remember who the second one I got on my hard playthrough was because I skipped all the cut scenes.
That's reliant 9n who you help at the start of chapter 10, if you help aerith first you get her at chapter 14, same with tifa. I haven't gotten barrett's yet but I'm guessing you just have to stand around without helping anyone to get it.
@@bjrabang3111 I just read that the side missions play into it too. I'm pretty sure Barret is the one I dont have, but not 100% because I read that the key to getting him is to do zero side missions, which is what I did on my first hard playthrough.
The self-destruct skill is also very easy to get from the smoggers at the destroyed underground way with the thieves just walk trough that fully till you see 2 big smoggers kill them and stand close to them and tadaa easy
@@bradass_drummer with Tifa or cloud that accessory let's you start with the limit break bar full and the accession limit break raises the stagger bar after that you can use the enemy skill bad breath and they get paralyzed poison magic less and the limit break bar keeps going up it's crazy
Those fucking bombs are not blowing up, I fought two of them by myself in the Corneo colosseum fight for Chocobo Sam and they just kept running and faking the explosion at the end till I got tired and just smacked the crap out of them with the nail bat.
@@Dailyblazer19 For real? You can go back after you rescue Aerith and use the fighting simulator? I missed one of the battles in Wall Market arena and even after I beat it on hard mode and made it back to Shrina Fighting Simulator it didn't register as complete.. so I'm kinda screwed at getting a lot of those last few battles and some trophies to complete for platinum.
@@supertramp2125 just go to chapter Selection and near the start of Ch. 17 when you run into Chadley (Where Hojo was carried away by Whispers) go straight across, don't turn left towards the central elevator, just go straight and when you get into the next room, on your left you'll see another doorway, and in there is an updated combat simulator that contains all the hard mode challenges, Including Aerith. It's where the final superboss rush is.
S M The whole Materia and ability system plus the ATB gauge, also aggro management and block/countering. You CAN just hack your way through the game spamming to same few abilities, but if you learn all the nuances it becomes super easy and quite rewarding
You try REALLY hard to pass that 10 minute mark by repeating the same things multiple times. That esrns a dislike from me despite otherwise helpful tips. Hope you improve snd get more views becsuse of it!
