This was some of thee best video game directing. Those slow panel shots, the calm atmosphere of tranquility after the first shot. How can you not get goose bumps during this scene. It's humanity vs nature.
How many best you know, bitch. Also, its not humanity vs nature. Humanity is not SHINRA corp. Humanity is not defined by some corporation. Idiot jerkoff. Those monsters were a counter mechanism to destroy potential dangers . Game needs more context in there though.
When the alarms sounded and it started coming to the shore and they open fire with multiple guns, to where you see that steady stream of cannon fire coming at it. This scene blew me away back then, especially that lucky shot by Shinra, taking its head off. I soooo hope that this scene will be in the remake and even better than before!
I hope Sapphire survives and we get to fight him in the remake. Also that mouth beam attack needs to cause a lot more damage than that tiny little gash.
@Lady Wanderer Well I mean Diamond fought alright and did major damage to the Shinra Building and Emerald and Ruby are, well, hard as sh*t without a way to cheese them
If not for Weapon then the party would not have escaped the situation in this particular scene. Who was a bigger enemy to the party? Shinra or Weapon? And it wound up not mattering anyway. Or something I dunno not an expert. Love this game tho 🤙
I can't wait for this to be remastered. It's a little different as an adult, but this was my favorite part of the game. I redid the mission countless times just to watch this scene again and again.
I think my favourite thing about this scene is that Shinra actually managed to kill it themselves. Usually in media giant creatures like this end up not being affected by guns and missiles at all, but here Shinra blew its head off with the Junon cannon.
I hope in the remake we will be able to fight it. Maybe they could add more of them, too. Like, Omega Weapon. Of course, I would still want them to make the remake as close to the original version, but still... Sapphire was so cool. >.>
@@Lorfo11 yeah that’s right, similar to how they originally fought the Ultimate Weapon in Mideel and then it flew off, or even Diamond weapon they got to fight but didn’t technically finish too
@@Nomimonyo And in later spin-offs, Jade and Omega. Also, technically, Sapphire is only in these cut-scenes. It's not actually IN the game, as in one you can fight against.
@@bobkile9734 nah the cannon isn't real there is just one guy inside the barrel using a death penalty with broken damage because they killed a hundred mooks with it.
Video game logic prevails over Hollywood... When giant monster appears, don't shoot it with your rifles, bring in the rocket launchers and heavy artillery.
When I was young I didn't know what the name of Sapphire Weapon was, so going by the names of the others I headcanon'd it as "Obsidian Weapon" because I thought it sounded cool as fuck.
I do look forward to seeing what they do with Sapphire and other WEAPONS in the Final Fantasy VII Remake series. I assume Junon will look more like a giant Port town and have Sapphire damaging more of the city/town itself? Maybe weaving through the streets or even tanking that first and second cannon shot and being driven off, so we can fight and finish it off later in the game? For Ruby weapon it will probably be changed to attacking the Golden Saucer this time? As it's near the location where it was located in the original game and Square does seem to enjoy these large-scale destruction scenes, especially in later games like in FFIX where the Party witnessed several cities and a planet being annihilated. So Ruby attacking the Golden Saucer feels right thematically. Ultima I think it could be reworked into an Aerial Battle, maybe even running interference for Diamond Weapon, keeping the Highwind and presumably the rest of Avalanche away? The fight against Ultima Weapon could be an aerial battle like the Celsius Battles from FFX? Maybe a mini-game with the Highwind deploying weapons to attack and wear down Ultima? I think Diamond's fight could remain mostly the same, with elements of Avalanche or Shinra's own military deployed against it, to try and slow its approach to Midgar down?
It wasn't really that pathetic, it was just very stupid. A trait shared by most of the Weapons. In terms of patheticness, nothing beats Ultima Weapon's craven cowardice, it's primary skill being running away. While Diamond Weapon beats it in the stupidity department, somehow managing to expose itself even more to the same cannon that got Sapphire.
Well Ruby weapon is in ff14 with the rest presumably on the way. Although not entirely related, I think that omega weapon from ff8 will also show up, but that's just a theory.
+cangri1788 you know dude! the reason for being split up its gonna 3 different games ff7 crisis core till you got out on open world map ff72 till aeries death ff3 end game!
Nightwing Son crisis core sucked. They should've kept it simple instead of throw Gact i mean Genesis down our throats... seriously that guy should've stayed dead and never come back after the time skip. The remakes probably gonna suck and retconned the fuck out of it
No, because Sephiroth was in the Lifestream corrupting it - You could say that the Weapons were fulfilling Sephiroth's wishes rather than the worlds. You could also argue that they're going straight for what's draining the lifestream from the planet.
Sister ray killed 2 WEAPONS and destroyed BARRIER at north. Think whatever, but Shinra was great in doing that. How game will proceed if Cloud could not destroy barrier ?
You know heres a thing. The weapons are the defenders of the planet the last choking gasp. They move to attack the biggest threat to the planet. This isn't sepiroth because the damage Shinra has caused over an extended period and continued to inflict is immense to the point of near impossibility. Conversely, they know holy will deal with sepiroth. There is a non zero chance thr planets defenders know the ones who seek to champion its great defense. Emerald and ruby are immense trials. They reward you with incredible power, either of which trivialize your final struggles. Ultimate gives you the ultimate weapon. And sapphires actions, and death, opened the path to sepiroths defeat. Fun thoughts!
