Yeah, it's a different team, probably, but it's fun to think about. I forgot to even go into the Neutral Bosses or new spawns and such this time around, maybe in the next one.

I don't think it can teach us much, really. They've already done cutscenes for FFT with War of the Lions, and the main thing that will likely change in a FFT Remake will simply be an upgrade to graphics. Because the simple fact is, Squeenix is more careful with messing about too much with the actual gameplay whenever it comes to their FF remakes, while with a series they're less invested in, like the Ogre series, they'll be more experimental with design changes. Look to: every remake/remaster/rerelease of every Final Fantasy game for examples. They might add a dungeon or bonus boss or some fluff like a bestiary where there was none before, but other than maybe the DS remakes of FF3 and 4, not much will ever change in terms of gameplay, unless you're talking the FF7 remake and then they'll go absolutely hog wild because they're copying the Rebuild of Evangelion plan just as much as FF7 copied the original run of Evangelion in execution.

I highly doubt that, considering how much of a foaming, jittery mess WOTL is at this point. It lost tons of sound quality from the PS1 version that never came back...the cutscenes are jarring... the lag is random and annoying, even after they awkwardly sped up bits and pieces to try and cover that up. It needs much more than a fresh coat of paint to give this game the sort of "legacy version" it deserves. TOR was also considered a Remaster, many mistook of for a visual and audio upgrade, when it was a really solid reimagining of basically everything to create a version that holds up today. I can't imagine they'd look at the latest WOTL versions and think "yeah, that's our non awkward version for the masses!"

@@CoffeePotato But I mean, look at those elements you brought up - lag, game speed inconsistencies, audio quality - all of those are audio/visual elements and nothing to do with gameplay. Those are areas I have no doubt Squeenix will focus on in the remake. It's anything to do with gameplay mechanics that I doubt they'll touch on, while they focus on making a bunch of AV upgrades. WotL already added a couple bonus characters, so maybe they'll get frisky and add another one, or a bonus "dungeon" in a late game series of battles like a low rent hellgate or something like that, but I doubt there's much to the core gameplay that will be meddled with. They WILL bring back those cutscenes though. I actually preferred the old sprite based scenes myself in most cases, but most people see the cutscenes as "fancy" and think they're impressive, so they're not going to throw them away when they're already done, just update the visual quality. (Personally I'd like there to be a "mode option" somewhere in the game where you could switch between OG and WotL versions for stuff like the cutscenes and whatnot, but I also wished for this with TO:R, and they didn't have that there)

Things they CANT (imo) do on the remaster/remake: 1) remove skills and replace with a card like system. The skills were essential for the character differences in the game (mp move, move+ and soo on and all the reactions) 2) remove the brave/faith system or make it mean nothing 3) make the inventory not party based (the 4 slots inventory on TO:R is horrible imo) 4) remove the random battles. Imo, they were way better in fft than TO. First because monsters (and poaching) were such a big part of the game and cool mechanic, second because they were challenging, and they were a risk since it was much easier to lose units in fft than to

The brave and faith system don't need to be removed, it need to be reworked

Wild to me that TO and FFT are both owned by Square now and FFT hasn't put any TO characters into FFT like they did with Luso, Balthier, and Cloud. Maybe if they let you customize your characters in FFT:R, there'll be a Dame Ravness Loxaerion skin for Agrias Oakes.

Hey Coffee, hope you are well! I was curious if you knew of any other games like FFT or Tactics Ogre Reborn, Triangle Strategy etc... Because my husband is a HUGE tactics kinda gamer. I just picked up Reverie Knights Tactics for him, which I got him hooked on playing Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes right now and he isn't much of a JRPG gamer but he is really digging this game LOL! He's actually ahead of me now in it LOL! He just beat Triangle Strategy a couple weeks ago (before I got a chance to beat it) -- But I was kinda curious if there is any other kinda games like the tactic ones. We have FFT for the older console (hoping for a remake), We have the classic Tatics Ogre as well as the remake. But I been trying to find other games like it. We have a switch, PS2, PS3, SNES, Retron and other systems if that helps, thanks a bunch and thanks again for doing all these great videos, appreciate it very much, keep it up! (I was trying to see if you had a facebook page because I don't have X or Instagram or others you have listed but I couldn't find one, so guessing you don't have one?)

There's not too many that lean into the same directions, but there's a few that they may like out there for various reasons: Unicorn Overlord- Came out recently, closer to an Ogre Battle clone than a Tactics Ogre, but a fantastically executed romp with some really good team building. It's an odd mix of pretending to take itself seriously and just letting the weirdness roll, but easily one of the best of the genre I haven't seen on your list. Fell Seal- Indie, so don't expect it to look fancy, but if you loved FFT, and especially if you loved challenge running FFT, this is more or less the same system. It's whole design is just based around making fun units, and it has plenty of fun with the concept. So like one class might have an ability that lets them swing at a nearby enemy if an ally targets them, but there's nothing saying that unit can't also dual wield handguns that steam health and break arms. Visuals upset some, they grew on me until I loved them. Kingsvein/Horizon's Gate/Spiral...something...Tactics/The other one I forgot: Aka, "The Rad Codex Games". One man studio, but they absolutely love the genre, and it shows. Not only are they fantastic SRPGs, but the engine they're built on is made for interactability, with fights taking place wherever you triggered them. All combat skills are also in world skills. So things like arcing lightning around corners to hit switches, or using grappling maneuvers to move furniture into a barricade....or kicking a lantern of coals onto a guy. Incredibly fun games, cheap, and super satisfying. They have the occasional bug, but their depth is a lot to love. Start with Kingsvein. Hope that helps!

@@CoffeePotato Thanks for the reply and quick too! Unicorn Overlord, that is the one I forgot to mention, we did get that one as well, he has already beat it TWICE! (once on easy and once on regular mode) - we love that one as well! Growing up I started with Final Fantasy 1 - I was like 6 when it first came out, I love all Final Fantasy games reason I have collected so many Square Enix games over the years of my life but like I mentioned to my husband I never understood the "tactics" part of things until a few years ago! Thanks to playing D&D and pathfinder with him over the years I actually understood it now with the turn based system! I will for sure look up and wishlist the games you have mentioned and show them to him or maybe even surprise him with 1-2 with Christmas coming up before we know it! =) Thanks again! Edit - also have you heard of Brigandine: The Legend Of Runersia ?its another I been eyeing

@@ArtCatsGamingFoodbyTinaNoire Sure have, haven't gotten to it myself, but seen my friend go through it. Looked awesome. Very freeform flow to that one. Also worth mentioning, if you missed it, FFT had a direct sequel, which I'm only mentioning because you mentioned DnD. If he hasn't played Vagrant Story, it's one of the best PS1 ....I don't know what you'd call it. Dungeon crawler strategy, but it's also what got used to create Tactics Ogre later...but it's also got puzzles and incredible world building...thing. Damn fine game, though. I didn't mention FFTA 1-2 because I assume they've come up. Many don't care for them because of the apparent tone shift, but there really is a lot to love there for those that give it a chance. I forgot to mention XCOM 2 as well. Not much story over there, but amazing emergent strategy madness. Hard to explain why what seems like a military strategy game involves a wizard using his uzi and laser sword to fight an army of undead and a surprisingly British alien safari hunter to avenge their best friend: somehow a close enough recreation of Lans Tartaros with a laser machete. Wild game, really fun Saturday Morning Cartoon Esque experience. Hard West 1-2 is out there too. First was a Western strategy shooter that went mystical. Second was basically bandits on a ghost train fighting through mystery western ghost hell because they lost a poker game vs the devil. Lots of cool momentum mechanics if you're into that sort of thing, neat setting you don't see often. Probably start with 2. I just gotta recommend Kingsvein again.. it's so good. Ultima meets FFT meets TO meets Golden Sun. Wonderful. Great dev, too. Lots of folks got used to finding some subtle significance to everything...latched onto one random thing that didn't, and long story short they just patched in a new class in the form of a dragonfly commander just because 🤣 Absolute curveball here, but also Metal Gear Acid 2. We're very far from fantasy, stats, or plot decisions, but it's some very fine strategy fun on a PSP. Technically it's a card builder stealth... thing. But it is very satisfying to call in an air strike, then sneak up on a guy, then throw him over a railing into said air strike. Last out of left field oddball pick here, but Silent Storm. Old game, it's a spy movie strategy RPG with absurd detail when it comes to sounds and projectiles. So like one soldier may hear something, so you have several others absolutely shred a staircase to pieces, watching the wood splinters and ricocheting bullets going everywhere, followed by the satisfying answer of all the stuff falling out of their ragsolls that eventually land. It can be buggy and has maps that can instantly fail on accident, but it's a fun ride. Ok, I gotta get to work, hope that helps!

I know we are all working off of just blind speculation, but everything I have read led me to believe it's not going to be a remake like reborn. I don't think we should expect anything particularly different outside of some modernizations and QOL changes. Idk why everyone is wildly expecting large changes. It's basically just going to be a fancy port to modem platforms, not a remake.

It's fun to imagine, and the original has been remade into one hell of a disgusting monster by now. Been comparing the mobile version and PS1 original, and the difference is baffling. Like...oh my goodness it wasn't nostalgia, the latest version is just like..110% bandaids.

@@CoffeePotato what do you mean? I have played the mobile version for many hours in addition to the PS1 and PSP versions. Sure it has some things shoe-horned in to make it work on a touch screen and to enable access to the rendezvous/melee items, but afaik, there were no core mechanical changes from WOTL. Stat growths and leveling are the same, and they didn't add anything new like the cards system from Tactics Ogre.

maybe add some thing from the FFT advance gameplay rules/system
