I always felt like Tifa deserved this spot on the date. It shows she wanted to express her true feelings to Cloud but she also cared deeply for him and didn't want to hurt him. She is definitely a complex character with many layers
I find it fascinating actually that the game seems to ship cloud and aeris Well it seemed quite clear that cloud and Tifa should be together. But I think that is what makes this game so very inventive. It allows the players choice.

@@La-hora-del-terror That's what I thought too. It makes me wonder if, had Tifa restored Cloud's mind way earlier like before Aerith's death, would they have confessed each other's feelings by then? I'm sure Tifa didn't want to express her romantic feelings to Cloud when she knew his mind/memories was still messed up, so she was unable to do much when Aerith and him started bonding. But had his true self been restored earlier, I'm sure Tifa would've stepped up her game.
I noticed the difference, in Aerith's date scene after the gondola she will say she had fun and "let's go together again" then ask Cloud "You don't like being with me?" then you have the option to say "Yeah" or "That's not it." Here, Tifa will say she had fun then Cloud will ask her what she was trying to say earlier. No options. It seems like Cloud really wants to know what she's trying to tell him.

I feel like Tifa deserves this scene much more than Aerith. It doesn't matter if she cannot still confess, she was there for him since the beginning, both for the real Cloud and the fake persona Cloud. Since he is still confused about his identity and thinks he's someone who he's not (and btw I'm not talking about Zack, but about his fake "tough boy" / "knight in shiny armor" personality), Tifa is afraid that a move by her, could complicate the things between them even more, because of his feelings for both the girls and so she hesitates. (maybe she actually confessed, but the fireworks were so loud that Cloud couldn't hear anything and Tifa took her words back after the ride ended. The song is called "words drowned by fireworks") She is also relatable, it's not easy to confess your true love and their date felt really like a puppy love night out. Everything was so genuine and awkwarly cute. Aerith might seem the open and extroverted one, but she talked cryptically throught the entire ferry wheels scene. The difference that I noticed, is that Tifa loves Cloud deeply already, Aerith on the other hand, has her ex in mind whenever she talks and stays with Cloud and she doesn't even know him.. I love Aerith as a character, but the romantic stuff with Cloud screws her up so much. Get you a girl like Tifa who thinks about your well being first.
I think she's more cautious when interacting with Cloud because she knows something isn't right. He remembers things completely different than she does. So if she cracks that illusion, Cloud may have a mental breakdown (which he basically does). That and Cloud is 21 in age only. In his mind he's still basically 16 since that's when he was put in that weird tube where he resided for 4 years. I don't blame him for being a total fool when it comes to reading signals.
@@Kaboomboo Yeah, exactly, Tifa knows Cloud's state of mind and instead of the other girls in the game, she respects him and lets him naturally open up with her, giving him time and space, because she knows there's something wrong with him and wants to solve Cloud's mental trauma before talking about anything romantic. She's not actually shy, because we can see plenty of moments in which she's really straighforward, but she's naturally reserved and thoughtful, so she couldn't talk even if she would, because not only she's afraid of Cloud breaking down, but she herself doesn't know (or remember) important things that happened in their past. Therefore both Cloud and Tifa have to sort everything out before they actually make that step, which they did after the Lifestream Sequence.
There is a big difference between Tifa's dating in FF7 OG and Rebirth. In OG, they looked very stiff and Tifa didn't dare express her feelings. Meanwhile in Rebirth, Tifa was braver in expressing her feelings and Cloud responded by kissing her. Wow, that's truly an amazing development! I can't wait to see Part 3, where we find out in part 3 their relationship develops deeper. And can't wait for the Advent Children series in part 3

It's interesting though how even with all Aeris' openness, she still doesn't say "I love you" - at least Tifa tried XD But yeah, Aeris is more open about her feelings. I still prefer Tifa's though - It's a lot more like two teens' first date, the awkwardness and all (since both Cloud and Tifa had trouble expressing themselves but still have fun). Aeris' date, however, felt more like pure family fun.
That's because Aerith doesn't love Cloud. She just miss Zack and is all sorts of confused with Cloud trying to imitate Zack. Initially she tried to replace Zack with Cloud but then she realized that she can't after all. That's why Aerith's relationship with Cloud is so confusing. She's half trying to flirt and get a new boyfriend to move past Zack, half trying to bargain that maybe if Cloud knows Zack things can go back the way it was for her, and half trying to make Cloud realize that he wasn't Zack (or even a 1st class at all).
As a teen, I only remembered this part because occasionally it would completely crash my computer. I played the PC version on an old Compaq Presario computer with a crappy built-in GPU with 64MB of VRAM and running Windows 98 at first and then Windows XP. I had no idea how the dating/relationship mechanics worked until I replayed it much later on in life. Anyways, I completely understand how Cloud could be so dense and clueless of Tifa's feelings. When I yell at Cloud on the inside to just tell her how he feels, it's like I'm yelling at myself in a way.
Aerith and Zack are where it’s at! The only reason why Aerith was even drawn to Cloud in the first place was because he reminded her of Zack. Besides Cloud deserves someone who genuinely loves him like Tifa does.

Tinydoge It took a while for Part 1 to finish. Last i heard they didn’t even know how long the game is really going to be. I’d say 3-4 more discs. I’m barely playing the original now. Someday i’ll get to Remake. Like once game 2 is out.
I wonder will the scene only be with tifa. In the original you could make choices to determined who goes on the date but in the remake cloud automatically gives the flower to tifa. In the remake his actions seem much more genuine because you don't have to make the choice he just does it on his own. The remake seems to be pushing hard for cloud and tifa.

And if they were to remove the choice and make only one character canon i think that character would be Aerith. But I still think it’s heavily implied there will still be a choice because the reason most people say Aerith’s date is the intended one in regards to the story is because she says that she will pay cloud for being her bodyguard with a date. Tifa now has a valid and coherent reason to be in the date in the remake now because she asks Cloud to dress up and hit the town with her to celebrate their reunion. Then again, the date COULD just be Tifa considering during the sector 5 rooftop adventure with Aerith she tells cloud that “he’s getting paid right now” which could infer that she saw that entire sequence as the date. That theory is pushed further by the fact that the capture scene in shinra was completely removed but who knows, I’m just rambling lmao
@@melioras_pheonoraptor8936 Turns out you can get the date with several characters but only the Tifa one ends with a kiss. A way of saying this is the real couple while still letting people have the other choices and use their imagination or headcanon if they really want.
If you ask that to tifa she knocks cloud out and kicks the dragon off stage. If you kiss the dragon, it turns into a girl and her and cloud twirl off the stage while tifa is dumb founded
Honestly I shipped Tifa and Cloud when I first played this when I was 15 and I still do today. Can't tell you how many times I get blasted by Aeris/Cloud shippers when I say this. In all honesty though, it could go either way depending on how you play the game, that's what makes this game so special, leaves it open for player determination.
Same. I didn't even consider Clerith as a thing when I first played OG. I always saw CloTi as a couple and thought that they were the main lovers. When Aeris died, in my eyes Cloud cried because he lost a friend. Not because he lost a lover. Cloud and Tifa make more sense anyways because they end up living together and raise children together, plus considering Cloud's personality (that a lot of Cleriths doesn't seem to know), Tifa is the type that Cloud needs (and wants) .

So replaying this game before the remake. I went on the date with Aeris because it seemed best for the story considering earlier dialogue and such but watching this makes me realize going out with Tifa is the better choice for Cloud
I don't think the date with Aerith enhances the story, they are both weakly connected to the main plot, so there is no canon. I think the developers themselves wanted it with Aerith. Because CxA, there was an illusory bond that distanced Cloud from his real self. And that's exactly what the writers of the game wanted.

@SonOfSparta100 Through certain parts of the game, you have optional choices. These choices hold something called "Points". So the most obvious choices that you will choose scores more for Aeris. I figured out how to get most points for Tifa, and not only Tifa though, you can get a date with Barret or Yuffie, you just have to aquire most "points" for the certain character
After finishing playing rebirth and coming here, i noticed something. Here, after the date Aerith asked Cloud if whether he likes being with her or not and we the players have the option to choose. Towards the end of rebirth, during their dream-like date, depending on our affinity to Aerith, we either get a HA where Cloud says "next time' or LA, "why not" which I came to find out that in the Japanese version he said "nakama'" meaning comrade/friend. So, what this tells me is that, with Aerith, our feelings for her is optional. Is she just a friend or more then that, the devs leave it up to us. But story wise, regardless of our choices and feelings for Aerith, Tifa is endgame.
First time I played the game I actually dated Tifa. Think it had something to do with me saying she was my girlfriend when Aerith asked me. The next two or 3 times i played the game it was Aerith. Been 22 years since I played this game so don't remember what I did differently.
Aerith is the canon date, it completes a narrative plot point and at this moment Tifa is still way too reserved to act on her feelings. Tifa however ends as the true romantic option.
According to Ultimania, there is no canonical date. All dates are poorly related to the story, and there is no advantage to dating Aerith in this matter. So this is a time for the player to be more with the girl the player likes.
Theres a way to get date with tifa at this part, all i did is never said to aerith n always choose an answer that sided with tifa Funny is, i actually make a comic based on the stage play, with zack n aerith as king n queen quite long ago 😂
I hate Aeris when it comes to tifa...Tifa's character is more realistic ...in my game Aerith didn't had the chance! plus zack and Aerith r the only confirmed couple
@@Wolf-Raven We know, Looking at it from a common sense perspective it is only logical she is one for Cloud. Rebirth confirmed who Cloud loved more despite the fact he wasn't his real self yet.
