I can just imagine how that interaction at 4:18:00 would play out in "reality" - Cloud knocks on Aerith's door, walks in, and (without a word) opens the chest in her room, takes out a staff, then hands it to her and leaves 😂
I love that Jesse still does playthroughs like this - I think at the moment he is the only YTer that I can just watch play a game as the genuine love for the games he plays comes through in every video.
2:58:10 I had to look it up, because now I was curious. He apparently calls Gilgamesh ギル, which is literally Gil. As in, the unit of money everyone uses, Gil. Occasionally he calls him ギルちゃん, or Gil-chan.
I feel like Jesse is fundamentally misunderstanding how the difficulty on the summon fights work, wherein each shrine unlocks a progressively easier fight (while also making the materia stronger) that or he's a masochist lol
he had a power surge or something fry his saves so it derailed his playthrough right at the end, unfortunately He mentioned playing back up to where he was but who knows
I hope he gets to finish it up, but I also know the pain of losing a save can make you not want to pick up the game ever again. I'm not going to pressure him.
I never beat Chadley in the DLC, so seeing Fort Condor again triggered my flight or flight (not a typo) I liked some of the mechanical tweaks they made though so it wasn't as bad as I thought
That treasure hunt for the wainwright... There's LITERALLY A PICTUER OF A CHOCOBO ON THE MAP! Why would you not even think to TRY using your Chocobo to search? Especially after the guy said something about 'dig up' the items... EDIT: Disclosure, I haven't finished the video yet, it seems pretty implied almost to the point of being outright stated, but it's possible I'm reading too much into it.
24:50 Just when I thought Fort Condor couldn't get better, they turned it into a Jumanji/RTS game (with the OG character models to boot). Bravo 👏👏👏 1:03:58 "Joshua!" Not to be annoying, but I hope you'll finish FF XVI someday (I've heard you lost the save files - which is a bummer -, so I understand at least that part of the issue). 2:19:48 The sign said "Jack-of-all-trades - Junon branch - Kirie (Kyrie)" (なんでも屋 - ジュノン支店 -キリエ) in Japanese. 2:40:20, 3:19:12 Mind flayers? So Squeenix is still trying to use D&D monsters, I see (marlboros are copyright-neutral beholders). I assume they must have gotten a license from Wizards of the Coast, then. 2:58:12 Apparently the Japanese version of Greg (Gilgamesh's nickname) is Giru-chan (ギルちゃん), since Giru is a shortened version of his original name (Girugamesshu/ギルガメッシュ). Considering that, a closer localization of that nickname would have been Gil. 4:17:56 "It was like they were sucking them straight outta my head" Well, that's not Red XIII's voice. Also, it seems the Whispers can drain someone's memories.
on the last point, yes we got that before when Aerith said she knew things before but lost them to the Whispers. and tbh the localization makes sense to me because I think it would be harder to replace Gilgamesh's name with an entirely different name and have it make sense, but in native English it's a funny joke to just completely get someone's name wrong and makes sense for Hildibrand imo
@@yaninaayalaherrera8956 That's really surprising (I've never played the first FF games, so that's "homework" I wanna do eventually). Gary Gygax (a co-creator of D&D) created mind flayers in 1975, which is even before that. However, the FF wiki says "mind flayers have not been renamed or graphically altered, despite their prominence in Dungeons & Dragons, and have appeared in other games since. One general assumption is that, so long as the Mind Flayers are not called 'illithids' (which is a specifically-protected term), Wizards of the Coast cannot claim copyright infringement, as the concept of the 'octopus-faced mind eater' comes from still earlier works by Brian Lumley and H.P. Lovecraft". Basically, Lovecraft gave Squeenix enough plausible deniability for it to not be copyright infringement (even though that's likely the case, since the wiki also says "many enemies in FF are taken directly from the bestiary of D&D").
I was hoping to see Jesse rage at the game when he only has himself to blame for the fight with the birds. He assessed them, saw they were weak to cold damage and then proceeds to not use blizzard whne they're using soothing breeze, also going several times into the fight with Aerith at 0-1 MP...
He thinks the chocobo minigame is the worst one... Oh my sweet summer child. There is far worse. Seeing this one pisses me off even more because there is a normal throwing mechanic in this one. Which means they intentionally made the one later on shitty.
3:47:47 Jesse has room for a 1-cost card. He has a 2-power and a 1-power card that could fit there. He goes for the 1-power card edit: he was already going to win the match regardless.
Yeah I have no clue what Square Enix's goddamn deal is about merch. Its always barely related awful lowquality slop. Like "Kingdom Hearts 3 shoes!" that aren't actually in anyway Kh3, that kinda crap. But posters and shirts of cool ff7 stuff WOULD sell.
It's the SMPTE color bars, which were regularly used to help calibrate broadcasts. Once the digital age came about, they've not been used nearly as much. PAL used to have something similar, too.
Trickster is seeing this as a card game, He saw the loss and rage quit, IRL that shit burns. Chelle is seeing this as a single player game quest and restarting is faster than hearing the kids mock you and restarting anyways.
