Final Fantasy VII - Those Who Fight (Piano Collection) ~Grand Piano~【ピアノ動画】FF7-闘う者達

Hello everyone! Thank you for viewing my latest recording of "Those Who Fight" from Final Fantasy VII (piano collections) on RU-vid. This is my fourth recording of this epic track arranged by Shiro Hamaguchi, composed by Nobuo Uematsu. If we take it all the way back to 2003 when this arrangement was first released, I would be 13 years old, listening to this track in absolute awe and disbelief, wondering how to make the piano sound like that. It then became my mission to learn this piece. I began studying it the second I could find the sheet music, and oh boy was it difficult to learn for me back then! It ended up taking me years to get truly comfortable with this piece, with many lengthy breaks in between bouts of practice sessions that went on for weeks on end, still studying whatever formal assignment my piano teacher had me working on. If I remember correctly, at the time, Those Who Fight was much harder than anything I was working on with my teacher, and I was undoubtedly too shy to tell her of the music I found from Japan. Good times! Anyhow, here we are, in 2020, and the big remake of FFVII will be coming out soon! What better way to celebrate than with some fresh recordings of the legendary FFVII piano collections!

Amazing! And great you did something much harder than what you were learning with your teacher! It shows true dedication and look where it's got u now! You're a classic example of why playing anything on piano is achievable with dedication and practice Saw your v first recording of this piece (you were young lol) and can see where you are now..such a massive improvement and jump!

My brain just did something so strange. I've known your old cover of 'Those who Fight' since it existed, and a few days ago I clicked on your new version but hadn't listened to it yet. Now I was cleaning up my browser and got stuck on this cover. My first thought after a short while was: 'Wow, he even plays it better than Kyle Landry back then.' Then I realized it was you... 😑😅

I wasn't really sure why I loved Kyle's covers so much more than other channels, but now you mention it, I think it is the clarity of his playing. There's always so much going on, but you can still hear every note and the intention it's played with.

@@thalanoth to be fair Kyle is awesomely playing the piano collections arrangement here which is very different to Cateen's arrangement. I think what you might be looking for is Kyle's improv from 2015 where he flexes a little at the end :) /watch?v=k2cywc0IZvE

@@_LorenzoCosta_ Actually that's only your opinion, not a fact, i agree Cateen is amazing, but i prefer this one because the emotion is way more intense, i feel like Cateen is holding something back and then the emotion doesn't hit me as much as i would expect.

This has been a video in the making since I started watching your videos way back at the beginning in like 2006 or 2007. I remember a video where your sheet music started falling right toward the end when the tempo picks up and you just slapped it away and kept playing. I will never forget that. Wonderful skills. Congratulations on all of the accomplishments these years have brought you.

Funny thing is, I was originally going to record a new arrangement of Tifa's theme because that seemed more appropriate for Valentine's day, but then I thought Those Who Fight would be better. Valentine's day isn't really my thing lol

I can't believe you did this a 4th time. I just bought the remake and watched the oldest iteration you did, which left me in awe as a teen! You can see so much assured grace in the movement of your hands now. Bravo and then some good sir👏

Kyle has been my favorite pianist on RU-vid since I discovered him in 2013! I love learning and playing his covers. It's hard to find more advanced, popular piano songs. His covers have so many layers that it keeps things interesting from begining to end.

man this song really takes me back... to when I was in middle school.. passionate about piano.. I had just discovered kyle landry's youtube channel. back when he'd throw up some deuces at the camera before absolutely smashing the cover i was trying to learn. I threw myself at this piece even though i was no where near the technical level to play it well. I worked countless hours to learn it and practiced so hard and was so proud of my progression. somewhere along the line, the passion to learn piano fell away and i stopped playing. I wish i had access to a keyboard so i could practice again.

This piece brings back painful nostalgia. My life back then was so rich, good and bad, but fully in the present - everything was exciting. I miss that. And now with the pandemic, I can't do anything at all to try to live like that again. And I'm not getting any younger...

I just rewatched this 3 times in a row! Holy moly that was the best performance of this song I’ve seen in a long time (since the days I watched w3sp when I was a kid haha good times indeed)! I’ve always thought you were fantastic and didn’t know it was possible to get better, but here we are with my mind blown! Thanks for the upload! Do you think you’ll post any of the FF Piano operas? I learned to play this song 15 years ago to about 2/3s in. I suck at reading sheet music, I never really got around to really study the piano, therefore, I was really proud of how far I got. Unfortunately, I never finished it, and now, with job, kids, family, it is all gone, I'd have to start from scratch again ... I'll put it on my bucket list for my retirement plans

Very solid performance! One of the best on YT. It's funny how so much more difficult this one is compared to everything else in the FF7 piano collections book. Jenova and one-winged angel are so easy compared to those who fight.
