I have always loved how quickly the npcs leave this scene, it's like "ok, we're just gonna leave this to you guys because the PS1 is really gonna need to focus for this next bit"
I don't think you could convince me there wasn't a fair bit of hallucinogenic use involved in this. Whether it was intentional or accidental is a question for another day.
You're right, I didn't realize how trippy this whole sequence was since I beat this game when I was 15. Took my whole summer to do but good God I loved this game as a kid 😊
