I’m so confused at your comment. I own this game on every PlayStation console minus the Vita because I don’t own it. Seriously, FF7, FF8 and FF9 have been ported over to every generation’s console. You just haven’t been looking.

@@mrdude88 they weren't. VIII was only put on the PS3 and Vita due to emulation. The Steam version is literally the PC version from 2000. This game has been MIA due to them losing the source code and a possible dispute over the song Eyes On Me. It's clear, with how long it's taken to come to modern consoles, and an updated PC version, they probably picked the old PC version apart and fixed up the models.

MrDude88 The source code was lost, and because of that there has been absolutely no remasters. The other "releases" were emulations, so it wasn't exactly porting the game but porting the PS1. This was the case for other Square games as well. FF7 in particular has had bad remasters before because they lost the final source code; every remaster has been built off a much older build of the game. In fact, all of the high resolution image files for FF7 have been lost forever due to this. Kingdom Hearts had to rebuilt from the ground up for the 1.5 HD Remix, as they lost the source code (KH1 was completely rebuilt, remaking assets and reusing assets from later games). FF9 gets so much awesome remasters purely because they kept the source code. The reason why this is so amazing is just the fact it is a remaster, not a emulation of the PS1. The source code is crucial in remastering a game, since it contains the original non-compressed assets. So they don't have the source code, but still announced a remaster. This can mean many things, but if there's one things certain the it's that they put a whole lot of work into even making this a reality. :)

Don’t think 11 will be, other than that given XII: Zodiac and XV Pocket Edition are already on. All that’s missing are Japanese only games (II, III, V) the SNES titles (IV and VI) and XIII

You are right final fantasy 8 is my favorite play station 1 game and final fantasy game

I heard 10 and Zodiac Age were fantastic.

AngelDemon 10 wasn't that great. Not awful but kinda a mixed bag. Gameplay wise it was good. Story...eh I appreciate what they were going for but without giving too much away it was a big let down. towards the end.

@@FrankenXANA don't wish that they've ruined the sprites on the pc versions and that's what they'll use. Course I want them made in the octopath engine on switch.

The character models are new and updated and backgrounds appear rerendered. This was worth the wait.

I think everyone´s favorite Final Fantasy is the one that they play for the first time, for me it was VIII and for my friend it was VII...but this remaster is announcement is amazing!

I'm not it's episodic and on the controller I hate more than my faulty grey joycons.

The models have improved textures and additional geometry on their faces, they even have noses and visible eyes! Looks like an early ps2 game compared to the original.

Now just imagine if the remastered version goes to PC and they're able to improve it even further on PC via mods.

As a kid i hated my friend for playing more card games in FF 8 than actually progressing in the story of the game (or it might be that i still have bad memories of losing some of my rare cards to Zell´s mother)

@@soldierorsomething lol! It's fun to play, but boring to spectate. I never really read guides so I didn't discover many rare cards on my first playthrough. My best was Ifrit that you get after defeating him, but I lost that to the kid that runs around Balamb Garden..

@@KentaroMiyamoto21 If that's true, props to Square Enix, especially if it still looks and plays similar to the original. Many of the background textures for FF7 were lost and that's why the more recent releases look weird when compared to the original.

I got the original PC edition next to me, and I got that for Christmas in '99. It wasn't really the exclusive people claimed it was.

@@dschult3 You forget that Sony also makes computers. Sony only paid exclusive rights for the console release, at least in the West, because the Playstation wasn't very big in Japan until the PS2 era but most japanese gamers also had a PC. As a result, most Japanese people played FF8 on PC, which is why there was an English release on the PC and most every other Final Fantasy game got a rerelease on various consoles. Its also why FF8 didn't get a rerelease on the PS2, despite it only coming out a year or 2 later, they needed Sony's go-ahead to release it on any console.

1 warning though you must Learn the Junction mecanic and also learn that magic is mostly unusable as you draw magic for stat buffs early on but after you grind it for about the first 2 hours your good to do what ever you want after

When you figure out the ins and outs of the Junction System, it's a cinch -- and magic can still be used freely.

@@tmcttf8087 It's the battle system of Final Fantasy VIII. It's basically used to equip magic spells to your stats to enhance your party with more Strength, HP, Magic, and even Elemental and Status Defenses. It, basically, makes the characters much stronger, even at a lower level. The downside is the Draw System, which is how you obtain magic AT FIRST. It can be tedious and a bit frustrating. But once you gain the ability to refine magic from GF, magic becomes a lot easier to obtain. It's actually really involved and a plot point in the story as well. It takes time to figure it out, but once you know what you're doing, the game is actually pretty easy. If you want to understand better -- not to shamelessly self-promote... But I've made two videos on it and uploaded them to my channel.

guys it´s all about opinions actually, neither game is better than the other, some of us liked 8 better than the others but it doesn´t mean it was better

@Truth yep, preference mostly. I personally rank 8 the best, 9 next, 6 , and then 7 last. To be fair, i played 7 last so it wasn't the groundbreaking, genre-defining jRPG for me. I never brought myself to finish the game, unlike the rest which I've completed multiple times.

People don't usually talk about it because it's a very polarizing game. The people that love it REALLY love it, and the people that hate it REALLY hate it. I can definitely see either side.

I got 7 in my top but 8 was the first RPG game I've played so I have a lot of memories with it. I love the tone and how different it is.

Best weapon(gunblade), hands down best music(don't even try to argue that one) and the absolute best GF system in all of the FF games with having the most and best setup with the junction and spamming the O button to power up the GF's. Sorry it's not even close for me but 8 is the best by a long shot followed by 6 and then 7.

Well remastered is also redoing lots of code because the source code of FFVIII was supposedly lost. Also, upres graphics and probably the speed stuff like in ff9/7 on switch

That's one of the reasons I didn't want to buy 7, too tiny of a screen. I know it's over 20 year old game. But still, also that's just me.
