It always made me laugh when people are like "I played this game for 20,000 hours and now it's dead." Imagine if you got 20,000 hours of gameplay out of every game you ever played. Sounds like a great game to me.

I’m a hardcore FFXIV player. We mostly don’t have long term grind/midcore content. My impression is that the dev team just have a lot of things they are working on and just spread too thin. Dawntrail is bringing a graphics overall, part of the team got pulled into working on Final Fantasy 16, there is so much they are pulled into and hopefully we will see a fix to this come Dawntrail. Alliance raids are general duty finder/match make 24-man raids that tend to have their own story. Savage is 3 tiers split between 4 bosses each. Then you have Ultimate raids that are peak content. They are working into 4-man savage dungeons that really aren’t a joke. This guy is bitter as all hell. Yeah I’m not thrilled over having no Bozja or Eureka to grind between patch updates. But it has given me time to play other stuff too.

only thing this guy really complaining is how the game is not for the hardcore players. the game is fine sure it has some problems , this is a game for everyone, also he the only guy that i know that wants old systems back

Wonder if this guy plays souls games. Sounds like he'd be THAT person who tells casuals to git gud when the casuals drop the game cause it's not for them. Most gamers don't subscribe to brutal gameplay.

It's just an elite raider complaining that the game is not ONLY for elite raiders.

I think the problem with these hardcore players is that they have no idea what game design is. The majority of his complains are things that are tested game design choices. If you aren't enjoying the game, why play it? Move on. You got what you wanted out of it.

You know what heavensward didn't have? :: Exploration areas such as Eureka or Bozja :: Ultimate Fights :: Other casual content To be honest, nobody really cares about dungeons as they dont' really ADD anything to the game other than something most people will do once and maybe get again during a roulette -- so using dungeons as "Cut content" is kind of a stupid argument on Lynx's part. He also makes some good points presented in a childish way that makes people not really care about what he has to say and then shits on how people want to play the game -- being what content they want to engage in.

Elly, love your content, but this guy is out of touch with the game since he quit and just bitter. Also, people don't login everyday to this game because the devs encourage other people to play other games while waiting for patches. They acknowledged content will be more of a thing in dawntrail, and when a dev says that normally it's hard to trust it. But with the ffxiv team they really do a better job than any mmo devs in the market.

@34:00 Best advise I've heard. This is the reason why I play 5 MMOS: FFXIV, WoW, GW2, BDO and ESO I sometimes even dabble in Destiny 2 and Division 2. Every game has something to offer.

You're 100% right when you said the more hours you put into your favorite mmo turns into resentment or disappointment and that's why I rotate games and never stick to one.

When play or do something non-stop, you will naturally find things about it that you hate. The same goes for every job you enjoyed at first, then later came to resent it. You need to shake things up. I took a break from FF14 to play FF16, and when I came back to 14, I had started having fun again. I did the same thing with Forspoken, Hogwarts Legacy, and DMC5 (a few years ago). It's not good to do the same thing non-stop. Yes, I know people love the game, but too much of anything is bad. I definitely disagree that this is the "Downfall of Final Fantasy 14." It's not like it's Dalamud all over again lol. Veterans need to learn how to play other games when they get bored with something.

I have the secret to dealing with any game you don't like. Don't announce your departure, and uninstall it. BOOM! Genius idea, right? The way he's describing the game, it's not like he has issues with the player base really. He has issues with the game identity itself. If that's the case, you just have to move on. The game isn't for you. I feel like it's different than enjoying a game, but having issues with the community. Not exclusive to MMOs, but it's tough when you like a game but you have to work with others as a main content feature, only to have them act poorly and ruin your fun.

To even when starting on his essay he is factually wrong. There is not a single expansion that has done the same. point 1 false. Point 2 has some truths to it. point 3. he does not seem to understand that the reason for wanting the combo skills in one button like in pvp, is because it allows for you to have more spacebare room for my skills, but it also leaves less clutter on your UI. also Yoshi P plays dancer more these days than Black Mage I believe. his point 4 is basically just taking a Jab at anyone...and everything that still loves the game and does not represent his form of game play.

Yes, it’s drawing people like me in I’m not interested in rating dungeons and stuff and they’re putting out more single player content for people like me

@19:30 GW2 does this very well, too. I got my Ascended set a few months after it was released and still relevant to this day. So didn't have to grind for gear for years.

He had a couple good points, like some classes being homogenized to feeling samey but I cant get behind a guy who mocks other people for enjoying the story of a story game while being a skipper, its like bro who hurt you

I would consider an engine upgrade as an engine swap and if they did that then we would not or getting Dawntrail next year, at most it would be late 2025 to early/mid 2026, on top of that it would have to be for the entire game and not just 7.0, compatibility issues will arise and as a result we would all have to start from scratch cause I can guarantee you that they are not going to take the time to rework millions of individual player characters to be compatible with the upgraded/new engine, that’s nonsensical, the engine overhaul that they are doing right now is the best we’re going to get cause a full engine upgrade/swap would not benefit anyone at all. It’s a choice of would you rather just have them to a refresh and overhaul and keep your character(s) and progress or go with a full engine upgrade/swap but lose everything you’ve built up and be forced to start from scratch, I can guarantee you that most people want to keep what they have right now

Any game that has a big time investment people will get defensive about people saying negative things about the game

If he could control his anger, not demonize those that enjoy the game their way, people would actually listen. But him acting the way he does throughout the video makes people 1) not wanna listen and 2) demonize him even if he has Some valid points. It's all about the presentation, and this guy missed his chance for people to hear him out. Also Lynx, don't hate on people for enjoying the story or any aspect of the game. We're all here for one thing: "To have fun playing the game we love." The game has issues yes, but none of it is game breaking at the end of the day(Besides the not necessarily needing a Healer part IF everyone in your party knows what their doing and coordinates their Mitigations & Heals.....). I criticize the game A LOT, but I would never outright hate people for just enjoying the story of the game or doing the things they want(besides those that just log in to AFK in Limsa, cause I'll never understand those people). Personally, I believe SE is cooking up another FF MMORPG and is why XIV is heading down the path it is via making almost everything Solo-friendly outside of a few encounters(also why they keep telling us 10 more years of content to come, as a way to settle any worries early on before they announce the next big FF MMO). And I personally HOPE they do a mixture of FFXI style of content and FFXIV with that next one. For the naysayers, I say this. If two lemonade stands are making a bunch of money, wouldn't you make another lemonade stand to increase your profits even more? Yes, yes you would. They made back the money lost with 1.0(and other games) ten-times over with XIV. Go ahead an add up how much they make a month off there what was it 25million active accounts with just the standard monthly sub if you have any doubts. Just one month. roughly 325million dollars, now times that by 12, 3.9billion dollars. Thats not even counting Retainers, Cash Shop purchases, and the monetization on the FFXI front(yes it still has a Sub, not only that but cost money per character slot and you know almost every longterm player is definitely paying for more storage space because it's absolutely required if you play more than 1 job). They're making another FF MMO I have no doubt about it, and is why these last few expansions have felt so boring, and bland outside of the MSQ.

The biggest problem with his hot takes is that he's mostly upset that there isn't more for him to do, despite the fact that, as he himself admits, he skipped the story, the literal bread and butter of a Final Fantasy game. I have played this game for way longer than him, but that was stretched over a very long period of time (close to a decade), yet he's close to my game hours and he's played for what... 2 years? He played the game like it was a job... this guys video is so vitriolic His arguments dont make sense because he'll say one thing and then another which contradicts his own argument. For example he says that each xpac has nothing new, yet during endwalker they added island sanctuary which is a new system. Granted it sucks but at least they tried something different lol

Got so burned out with ff14 after finishing endwalker when I realized I was waiting in a hour+ queue to login just to sit there with no content worth doing.

What confuses me about people like this is the disdain for people less skilled then them yet they need those people to exist in proximity to them to measure against. They say they want people to learn how to play their classes but also want to see people die to mechanics and they want to be the last one alive who saved the run.

That guy is just jumping on the occasion because other FFXIV content creators started to talk about what they'd like to see going forward for the next 10 years. Most of the feedback is aimed towards the lack of replayability on Endwalker content and very few amount of stuff available for the midcore audiance. Bozja/Eureka was a good middle ground to keep those people busy between patches. They announced that they have plans to address most of the concerns in Dawntrail. We'll most likely have a bit more details this weekend during EU Fanfest.

i use to like mmos, but nowdays mmos after a while just gets my brain numb. when i play league f legends or valorant or cs2 or any other pvp game, my brain feels awake and am having fun even if i lose the match.

For me it looks kinda like a burn out for any game, MMOs at leat gets updates so it pretend to be fresh all the time, but like any other game if you are invested in it, you will reach a celling, at witch point it starts to be repetitive. There is so much to say about it... eh

Nah man the guys right everything is shit in every game , why do we even play any games ? I've never played FF14 but every MMO has their issues and different flavors of . Lost ark , BDO , u name it . Anyone that has put enough hours into a game can talk you off for their playtime why their game sucks . Not saying they shoudn't try to fix the issues that are pointed out ( some of them are indeed valid) , but if a game were to go and fix all their issues overnight , none would be playing anythin else then right ?
