Final Fantasy XV Chapter 3 Part 1 

This game has been shattering my expectations, thus far. With Jesse at the wheel, and the fact that HE'S having an amazing time with it, only sweetens it further. Definitely need to own this game. ~

i just love this whole setting. it's so... normal for a final fantasy setting. i mean i'm watching a guy fishing as there is a giant monster eating ahead of him in the lake he's fishing it like it's normal. i love it

i think the issue you're having with the blocking / dodging is that this game doesn't allow you to cancel animations at all. if you commit to an attack, you're vulnerable to being hit until the animation of that attack fully ends. pressing square whilst its happening won't do anything. in something like the arkham games or assasin's creed, that doesn't really matter...you can be in the middle of a long animation, if you press the counter button in time your character will cancel right out of his attack to block / dodge the incoming hit. a lot of people are more used to this. there's pros and cons to both ways really. the first method is generaly done on more hardcore games like the early DMCs or dark souls to punish button mashing... the second kinda encourages it but gives a more smooth flow to the combat. it really surprised me to see FFXV going for that first style...

Seeing Jesse slay the mammoths around 5:00 ish was pretty cool, until I saw the little calfling run over seeing its family being murdered. Then I got sad.

The magic is not bad at all. You just haven't #1 invested any points into it, #2: You made tier 1 spells, and #3 You are holding the magic button down. You just have to press it to instantly cast it. So if you lock onto an enemy then use a magic attack it will hit them. Also it's not that you can't upgrade your weapons yet, it's that you don't have the required items for the upgrade. The waiting part comes in after you start the upgrade you have to do a mission before Cid will finish the upgrade.

Why doesn't Jesse use his spear ever?

So I know jesse is in chapter 6 min now, and that he might have learned, but you can insta cast magic if you are locked onto an enemy, then instead of getting mad and waiting at a barrel, you'd just have to wait until he gets near one. Also the fact you aren't enabling wait mode is another reason you are having a hard time, cause it really helps you get your bearings, and a base skill you get allows you to scan enemies when your in wait mode, which then tells you their weaknesses. Also wait mode already lasts a long time, and there are skills to re-fresh the timer every time you kill an enemy, and eventually to have infinite wait time. It's also useful as you can que up actions for your team when in wait mode, ex. have gladio use his skill, while ignis and you both use potions. Another tip if your tech bar still has some amount to it, you can chain skills, ex. using gladio's tempest into igni's regroup. Also team skill attacks are your friend, as they not only do lots of damage, but give every member of your party invincibility frames, as well as giving some amount of time for the party to re-gen hp, as you re-gen the grey section. Also another thing I found out which is super cheese, is that you can still access your menu while in combat, so if noctics doesn't have an enemy's weakness, you can equip a weapon or spell that is. Also for spells you aren't adding catalysts to them, you can equip items that can add effects to them, ex. a rusted coin makes expcast, giving you bonus exp for killing said enemies, or potions give you curecast, which gives you health for using them, essentially making them both an offensive and defensive item. There are other combos, based on items, but they apply other magic effects including poison, stop, toad, petrify, etc. Also for just moving, you can technically use your warp strike to move, as when out of combat it regens very quickly, and you travel quicker than sprinting. And on the topic of warping, you don't do it enough in combat, you should be using it more, as there is a chance it can stun enemies, making them vulnerable, aka a stun state which lasts a good couple of seconds, which can then be capitalized by your team. Now not to put you down or anything, but I just went into chapter 4 now, but I figured out most of this around the 1st and 2nd chapters, and for your to be having this much trouble here I thought I'd give you advice. Also for those who are also playing you can use this to your advantage as well.

The magic is great actually but you got no points in it - and you made shitty tier 1 spells. I can take out a patrol of those tin men in 1 zap.

I know I'm late on this, but Jesse, dude, you're killing me... Sitting there saying "Nope, I have to do other quests, I can't even do this yet", when it says right in the quest description "*Find* *[insert* *item* *here]* *and* *bring* *it* *back* *to* *Cid*". Why would you assume the last sentence of the quest description is the only important part?!

never let the green ability bar stay at max, use it its great for getting out of trouble and awesome for combos. attack from behind and use your warp points. don't rush combat and enjoy it, fights will last longer but more fluid and less death will happen

Barramundi is delicious. While I was in Australia, I got some tempura battered barramundi and it was AMAZING.

This appeared, and after watching this I realized there's 7 hrs 40 minutes before this...

Jesse skipped the tutorial so he may not realise that each enemy has a weakness to a particular weapon and would have had a much easier time if he scanned them to find out what it was rather that just picking a weapon he likes using and wondering why it's not killing them quick enough and getting stomped.

Cox, magic can still work quite well against enemy groups that banged together. Like imperials, they always spawn in tight groups.

41:ish...WTF, I was the same level and no further in quests, but every single group of imperials in chapter 3 has been level 16 with ranged attackers...including next to this exact quest item and animal herd, making it completely insane.

You can lock on to a target and attack to cast magic w/o having to aim it

@51:45 Jesse, there are some abilities in the game that cant be dodged, you need to roll out or warp out.

i wonder if jesse realizes that the whole point of "wait mode" is to switch from night to day WITHOUT having to rest everyday and pile up exp instead

I really hope I'm not the only one that hopes Jesse gets better at use the different types of weapons currently at his disposal. Also Jesse, for the love of everything that good and efficient, please try harder to take advantages enemy's weaknesses. It would make things much easy for you and it goes toward the finesse grade after battles. Loving the series by the way, keep them coming, and I hope you actually finish an extremely, unnecessarily large open world game for once ;)
