Final Fantasy XV (15) Friendly Match Walkthrough for Rank A+ Guide with 60fps Gameplay. Completing this unlocks the Gold Trophy/Achievement: A New Protagonist - Earned the top ranking in the Friendly Match. Rank A+ is Hand of the King tactical rank. To get a high rating is based on three criteria: Highest combo, Evasion, and Battle Time. For evasion, you will have to dodge pretty much every attack to get back the health lost. A high combo is more difficult since Noctis won't allow too many hits to go unanswered. In the beginning you will have a good chance to get a nice combo in so pair this with a full Clarity attack (flame daggers) to get an addition ~10+ hits.
Ignis has two techniques: Overclock and High Jump. Both have risks. High Jump can miss a lot and Overclock may not be as useful if applied to anything but fire daggers. Ultimately Overclock can be worth it since the counter attacks do more damage. Pay attention to which element has the green plus sign next to it.
-When Noctis warps atop the Gas Station rooftop, you can fight him there or recover health and charge your Clarity.
-Noctis will sometimes hang on the billboard by the garage. Use this time to pull it down for a lot of damage.
-When Noctis turns on Armiger Chain, you'll need to hold down the dodge button. If you need use an item to heal, now would be a good time since you cannot be interrupted. Using a technique to kill time is also a good idea.
-Noctis will use the Ring of Lucii at one point and you must attack him to get him to stop using it. The same goes if you see him begin to use any of his magic. This is a perfect time to hit him clean with Clarity.
-Do not let your health drop below 50% of maximum HP. You will not be allowed to counter attack and replenish your health if it is too low, so use a Potion and remember to dodge/evade at the right time to regain lost health. If your maximum HP drops to 50%, use an Elixer.
-If your maximum HP is close to 0, it might be better to let it drain out so you can use a Phoenix Down. This will give you the perk boost of rapidly gaining lost health for a short period.
-If you're having trouble and using up all your items, Ravus will drop in and try to help you out a bit. Use this time to keep distance and charge up and use your Clarity with the flame daggers.

I am wondering on how those DLC matches can be seen as canon. I mean, let's say that after the final boss on Prompto DLC Aranea wants to test Prompto's skills before the ending. In ignis case, the kings of Yore, when he puts on the ring, test his habilities when they put him to face the true king with his full power (it's a battle eithin his mind, with Hammerhead having bars where it doesn't have (and I doubt the body shop would spent an entire day of service for them to battle) and Noctis yet with his 20 years, as he becomes the true king at the age of 30). Ravus comes to help, but remember, he had put on the ring before, he is near Ignis when he puts the ring (maybe this can be a reason)... But Prompto and Gladio make a brief appearance... Maybe subconscious... Well, I really like my interpretation of this match! Gladio's match seems the only one really canon because of the dialogue, but the scernario... I wonder how Gilgamesh let them fight there... Maybe his soul was finally resting, or something else. Anyway, it would be cool if those fights were canon.

I love how, in Iggy’s victory, Noct didn’t react in pain of the fight, but in pain of having to eat the greenies.

Still disturbing how Noctis freaks out and starts using Armiger and even Death, DEATH! on Ignis... If that's friendly then I dread to think what a serious match would be, just sending Titan in to stomp Ignis into the ground?

Noctis also uses the nice one shot spell that can obliterate you he did that on me Ignis was gone and i lost instantly i couldn't even use a Phoenix Down

:) I wish we'd gotten a scene of Noctis having to eat a whole plate of vegetables, while Ignis smiles and ignores all pleas for mercy. Maybe even the dreaded beans.

If anyone is stuck with this and struggles like I do, if you can get him down to around 30% HP and he starts using the Ring to absorb your health, I used Total Clarity with Fire Daggers and he died because every attack hit him he couldn't dodge. I was stunned how easily I won.

Just finished this. Here's a tip: when he conjures the armiger spam high jump. Make sure you have three tech bars.

Nah, hold dodge to auto dodge it. Then when you're nearly out then high jump. 1 bar and you regen the energy used in auto dodge.

Ironic how a "Friendly Match" is a lot deadlier than a "Final Trial" as the former includes spells of death and rings of evisceration and the latter only a red-boi with a sword..

It's hilarious to me how seriously Noctis takes this fight. But dang, is he ever tough to beat. Especially later on in the fight. I got an A+ when I finally beat it, but I was out of curatives and just needed to land one more hit on Noctis. I lost my chance when Noctis threw me into danger mode, but then Ravus appeared at the last moment to give me that one final hit, lol.

i love the english voice actors for this but somehow listening to Ignis English VA with my eyes close make me feel like listening to a 35 years old man talking, not 22 years old ... (yes, i know he's suppose to be 'too mature for his age' but Iggy as a character is 22 so thats extremely odd ...)

It’s mainly because he’s had to take over as a sort of big brother to noctis since he was six years old. He knows noct better than anyone else. He’s had to mature a lot in order to take care of the group

There are a few things the friendly match does not show... Such as Iggy can still grapple away from the fight and hold the item menu button to get back up without using an item. To get good part is mainly landing the counter to get healed and strike back among knowing specifics. Phase 1: Noctis just using base weaponry that can be recieved early game or special weapons like machinery, ultima weapon, and muramasa. Attacking consistently to force noctis to dodge until stasis is effective. Phase 2 (4/5 HP left): Noctis will say that he isn't afraid to hit someone with glasses and starts using elemancy if far away or starts countering if too close while increasing the types of weapons Noctis uses. Avoid midrange. Total Clarity (Fire) is effectively if against the shield counter as it forces stasis. Also the shield is a nightmare for a good reason as Iggy is weak to it in FFXV. Note at this Phase and beyond that Noctis will warp away to safety to regen their MP if in stasis if allowed, if Noctis is at the billboard, you can grapple the structure to make it fall on Noctis for 3k damage. Phase 3 (maybe 1/2 HP?): Noctis starts using basic Armiger and Royal Arms. The royal arms shield is a nightmare to work around. Forcing counter then dodging multiple times seems to work well and if against shield use total clarity during the counter for stasis. Final phase (20-30% HP left): Noctis stops holding back as he really don't want to eat greens. Will be using the enhanced Armiger, the Ring of Lucii, as well as be more difficult to attack in general. Keeping close to Noctis and attacking, especially during Ring of Lucii attacks is effective. Use everything in Iggy's kit to outmanuver Noctis, as both Armiger versions can be avoided with holding L1 then High-Jumping at low MP.

Remember to unlock Quick Recipeh in the main Episode Ignis story or you cant use it in ANY game modes (its the only tech art you go out of your way to unlock)
