I know that in general we put a lot of emphasis on how amazing true romantic love is, but when I see cutscenes like this, I'm reminded that friendship, even brotherhood I'd say, is underrated. The level of sheer loyalty Ignis shows, even at the expense of his own life because he has so much faith in Noctis, is beautiful, really. And he still pictures the day he has met the little boy even with 10 years of blindness behind him, because it's selflessness at its best, he did it for his young friend, his little brother.
Thank you ! What I love about this game is that it is focused on brotherhood, loyalty and friendship. A good change from romantic love. It was a blast following the 4 bros journey !
Did anyone notice Noct's reflection in Ignis' glasses during the campfire scene? It showed his younger self, before the time skip. Maybe to symbolize how Ignis sees/ remembers him. Nice touch
I’m a straight male, and I think he looks way better like this. I mean damn, way to destroy your own looks there. I get he never cared about that, just looking snappy, but seriously, what is with the do? That hairstyle he normally has just looks...well, quite bad.
you're right, i am fucking crying. i've been playing ffxv since 2017 and i only have episode prompto. this alternate ending made me ball my eyes out again, but in a good way this time
Wait so...if ignis played along he could've Saved Ravus Saved Noctis Kept his vision Make crown city normal again And maybe create peace between the 2 kingdoms? Bruh
Technically, both were sound paths to take. If he played along, maybe Ardyn would just kill Noct when he couldn’t defend him in transit to the Crystal? One can’t predict the future after all. So in the main ‘canon’, he decided it wasn’t worth the risk and dived into combat right away, burning away his vision. But we were able to see what would happen if he did test out his strategy with a million in one chance of working. Any of Ardyn’s blows could have easily killed Ignis. He was toying with him. It’s a longshot to make a bet on the whims of a madman. In Extra Verse, it miraculously worked. That is all. The decision wasn’t right or wrong, it was just tactics.
I thought Noctis was dead anyway and the Crown city was restored bc they were in the afterlife i mean his sight got restored so like actually they just all died together
More important: how did he recognized Ardyn in his disguise this part but failed to do that in his death scene in Chapter 13 verse 2? I may be nitpicking here, but that's kind of annoying.
BAHAHAHA its just: Iggy: "I MAY NOT BE OF ROYAL BLOOD, BUT IF A GLAIVE CAN HARNESS IT'S POWER SO CAN I!" Ring: *doesn't fit * Iggy: ._. Ardyn: O.o Soldiers: o.o Iggy: .-. Ardyn: ._.
Technically speaking even in this alternate ending Noctis still should have died. Just because Iggy stopped Ardyn doesn’t mean he stopped the darkness from happening. In order to bring back the Light into the world Noct HAS to sacrifice his life to summon the old Kings. Regardless if this is the better ending. The end of it should still be with Noct dying because simply just defeating Ardyn doesn’t make a difference. That’s the whole point. When Noct defeating Ardyn in the main game, that didn’t stop the scarsurge.
PSN_Mirru I have plenty of chill, actually. And I wasn’t trying to make you see anything different about your views of the game. I was simply stating what I liked and thought about this alternative ending, trying to have a friendly conversation. And name calling really isn’t necessary. I was just giving my own views on the game. There’s no need to be rude.
Same the alt ending will be the true ending in my eyes. I feel like they all just defeated ardyn together and didn’t need to call on the past kings of Lucis. Or least that’s what I’ll tell myself and I don’t give a shit if that’s “too happy” of an ending, that’s the ending I want to believe is canon so I will damnit.
2:42 *fight back option* Ignis: *gets up* Hhuuuahhh Hubberahhh Tssssaaahhhh Bunwihegbdahhhh! Bugaaahhhh! BrrrAAAHHHHH Ardyn:.....o-o Soldiers:....O_o Ardyn:....I'll take that as a no Sorry I didn't mean to laugh 😂
Lol ikr me and my sister were a mix of crying and laughing cause it was the second time playing it so I knew what would happen and it accually made me cry but I was legit DYING of laughter
Just wondering...does ardyn has a royal hat summoning? I've just lost count of how many times this guy takes off and drops his hat but he always recovers it lol
I can't imagine how disappointed people are that we didn't get these kinds of moments/cutscenes in the base game. It's great that we have it now, but the base game is severely lacking cutscenes that build up to a finale.
@@suronia1 Stuff like Ignis losing his vision or what happened with Prompto off train are HUGE moments which tell a lot of them and make the shock/pain they feel matter... but we know little to nothing of why. Moments needed to build up to a finally. The base game has mostly bro moments, but not them sacrificing for Noct. Just them being there. Being there isn't a build up.
On the one hand, I love the alternate ending for keeping everyone alive and providing a happy ending for the characters. On the other, that moment at the end of the main game was what made the whole experience so special to me. Whenever I hear the music playing on the title screen, I'm reminded of the adventure I went on, and the one that I will never experience again.
NoMoreHeroes02 I take this as a way to settle our demons... Now that the main story is over, we got a lil glimpse of a happy ending to thank us for sticking around. I really appreciated this.
Is that what it was? I wasn't too mad about the original ending, but I do really like this one. Perhaps it's because in the dlcs Noctis actually seems like he wants to be king, wants to use his powers to protect. In the main game he is just doing it because he's being told to, and I get it that it's forced on him and he's still so young but still. I felt he never came to terms with wanting to do it until he'd woken up 10 years later. Having Ignis make this sacrifice and having Noctis basically get a wake up call worked nicely. I appreciate the different alternates that were created. Something for everyone
Brandon Stepp don't get me wrong I do like it and I don't see where they're coming with noct in that moment. There's just something very satisfying about him calling out to the crystal because be genuinely wants to protect. It's like an epiphany moment that feels right when you've spent the whole game maturing if that makes sense?
i agree i loved the alternate ending best ending i wish that was the true ending did not like the true ending 4 that same reason 2 sad 4 me and it felt lazy also because they said we leave it 2 the fans 2 say if the guys died or not
So during Nocts time in the crystal ignis and friends found a way to bring back the light without Noct being sacrificed or that ending they all died? Or maybe ignis died with Noct because he didnt pay the blood price himself?
Ani Millsi actually sight had little to do with it. it depended on when ignis wears the ring. if he does it at the alter ardyn can escape before ignis can unleash the full power of the ring (he reaches this final stage at 18:50 in the final fight which is the deciding factor becuase the ring is fueled with his loyalty to noctis). what makes the alternate ending different is that ardyn HAS NO CHOICE but to stay in order to trap noctis in the crystal and use it to envolope darkness on the world. so he fought ignis long enough for him to unleash the rings full power because ardyn fought him for too long and ignis was able to match him. thus he wasn't able to corrupt the crystal with darkness thus he would need noctis for it and noctis didn't need to die because ardyn didn't fully use the crystal.
To me both endings are canon. Base game is like world prime, and the alternate ending is a world where ignis can see the original ending and fights against it.
fishfag must be a loophole, Ignis chooses to sacrifice himself to save Noctis and was then healed by the crystal, perhaps because Ignis defeated Ardyn, Noctis didn't need to die to finish the job? Perhaps it weakened Ardyn enough that Noctis overpowered him easily?
Well, one thing that majorly changed was the other 3 stayed together and went around exploring, gathering allies and other things. Maybe they found something in that time that lead them to being able to save Noctis and destroy Ardyn?
Especially when the bastards start playing Stand by Me in the end and you chose the photo for it to show to be everyone in front of the car at the beginning of the game, not knowing that would be the photo to see as the credits roll..frickin tear jerker
I just realized that the reflection into ignis' glasses at 12:25 is the younger Noctis. This is because he remembers him in that way, since he can't see (and never saw) the grown up Noct.
Raimundo91 Ravus and Promptos hair is the same. Everyone’s else hair is longer. Noctis and Prompto were in their early 20s before the gap I’m pretty sure they would grow a little bit
Little Row lol Just Look at Pharrell dude doesn’t seem to age and has look the same for as long as I can remember. 10 years you probably won’t change much in terms of looks if you’re already an Adult or late teen.
Not just that, but he cried while saying that. I had to replay that a few times but I saw a tear fall from one of his eyes as he said that. That and him crying in the True ending gave me the shivers.
Imagine if Ravus made the decision to help Gladio, Iggy and Prompto protect Noctis in honor of Luna’s death and he became a 5th permanent party member once you finished the game
Wonder how the alternative ending would play out in full? Maybe that will be a alt path in Ardyns episode where we see the ending to the alt ending here? Glad to see Ignis kept his eyesight and Noctis stayed alive. :) Kind of wish that was the real ending but the scar on Ignis is awesome too.
Maybe they'll go by the alternate ending and create a sequel to repair the damage done in releasing Final Fantasy XV incomplete. Despite the patches, dlc, and episodes making the game better the damage is done and a sequel is the best way to repair the damage done to the original.
Maybe, but how can you retcon a majority of the game? If they did that, I'd be very happy. I'd love to see Noctis live and see how the other Chocobros went about their lives.
I didn't mean it as a way to insult the game, I think it's a very fun game and was looking for excuse for Square to make a sequel because I don't want the story to end.
I’m not exactly a Final Fantasy fan. Heck, of all the games I’ve tried 15 is the only one I’ve liked. A love this game and I feel biased in saying this, but Iggy, imo, is one of the best video game characters ever.
Phoxxel play style?I'll give it 10/10 with mechanics and hidden stuff, but the story telling would be a fail 4/10 cause the important events are timed weird, and I haven't played ff games b4
in the true ending ignis knew noct’s fate and it hurt him. and because he knew he couldn’t do anything to change noct’s fate, even though he knew the end was coming, he kept a smile on his face. he was scared of losing noctis, but he didn’t run away. instead he stayed by noct’s side, the way a true friend was. it hurts me to think that ignis knew but he couldn’t do anything but smile with the gang. rewatching the scenes in the credits for the true ending of the gang’s journey, after finding out what ignis went through was agonizing
Daily reminder: If you chose the ending where noctis lives: - Ardyn is still going to come back to buttfuck the entire planet of EOS one day - You wasted Luna's sacrifice
no it's not, its not the end FFXV ends when Noctis and Luna are together Also, to add, both endings are the true endings (both canon) Alternate reality was confirmed a long time ago
Alternative ending ftw guys, there is the happy ending everyone was looking for. It made me cry to finally see Noctis becoming King instead of dying... My life is complete I can die in peace 😢
Klayton Riley Why are you breaking my dreams? T.T I don't think this time it's just a spirit, Tabata said that he was going to make a "real" happy ending so it's probably this one. And the chapter is called "Possibilities" it's probably an Alternative Universe with here the posibility that Noctis survive and become the King, showing us what could have happen in the regular game we know if they had done things differently, really if they had plan to kill Noctis in this ending too it would be a useless ending, they wouldn't had done a alternative ending at all.
Exactly what _could have_ Unless Square decided to pull some Deus Ex Machina out of their butt at the last second, it makes no sense for Noct to actually be alive in any timeline. even in the alternative ending Noctis still should have died. It’s fate, as much as it sucks and as sad as it is, that has been set in stone since the first time we popped in the game. Just because Iggy stopped Ardyn early doesn’t mean he stopped the darkness from happening. In order to bring back the Light into the world Noct HAS to sacrifice his life to summon the old Kings. And there is no way he could have survived all those Kings, including Regis, stabbing him in the chest, 12 times. No potions or healing could have saved him. I’m not trying to break anything, I’m just being logical and as beautiful as this alternative ending is, on how things could have been, it just doesn’t make sense with Noct still having to sacrifice himself.
TheAngelofFate17 Yeah your right about the fact that it really doesn't make sense but again I still don't think Noctis he's dead in this ending. Tabata maybe had came up with something similar to the alternative ending in Type-0 here too it doesn't make sense that everything is beautiful and everyone is happy. And in the end when Noctis and the overs enter in the citadel, we don't really know what happened inside, this time he wasn't alone and maybe all the Kings of Lucis helped Noctis instead of killing him, really they could have done that.
With this alternate ending FF15 is the Best game of the World!!!! HOLY FUCK PLS SQUARE ENIX RE-RELEASE A REMADE VERSION OF FF15 WITH AL DLCS INCLUDED INTO THE STORYLINE WITH A CUT AT IGGYS DECICIONS TO PLAY WITH THE CHOICE YOU MADE !!!
They're going to re-release the game on PC complete with all it's DLC (I think the latter half is true, can't remember that well), so I'd say it's definitely possible.
I wish they make a book of this game story, i would buy the fuck out of it and i'm pretty sure it'd be the best book i'll ever read. Such an amazing, AMAZING story
I second the motion! Not to mention adding concept idea in the end :D I would've loved to read wht they planned originally for this game :) (yes.. Some of the info's on Wikia now. But it wouldn't hurt to know more, wouldn't you agree?) :)
Duuuuide gladio and prompto aint got shit on what ignis went through. He went through some serious shit. This guy will always be my favorite. Iggy best man!
@@sofiaalexander4152 And Noctis will make the ultimate sacrifice for everybody. The friendship between the bros is phenomenal. I love those 4 friends and their brotherhood. And even though Luna is not in the crew but she also sacrificed herself for Noctis.
Main Ending: Reject Ardyn's offer Ending of Weakness: Play along, battle Ardyn, but choose to give up or sacrifice life but the timer hits 0 and Ardyn is not defeated Ending of Sacrifice: Play along, battle Ardyn and choose to sacrifice life and defeat Ardyn before the timer hits 0 Is that what sums up the requirements of each ending?
Damn it Iggy. Your alternate recipe had too many onions in it! 😭 But damn if it isn't the best recipe. Why couldn't this have been the true ending? WHY!!!!!😢
As happy as the alternate ending is, it just feels kinda wrong for Noctis to live. Bahamut’s line in the crystal really sums it up: “Many sacrificed all for the king, so must the king sacrifice himself for all.” Luna, Regis, the Glaives, so many people sacrificed their lives for Noctis that it’s only fitting for Noct to make the ultimate sacrifice as well so none of it was in vain. In the end, he is rewarded by reuniting with his love, which in my opinion, is far sweeter than being alive and ruling Lucis alone.
The DLCs also tell us that Bahamut is basically a bastard and one of the main reasons Ardyn brought the starscourge upon the world. So Bahamut is using Noctis to kill Ardyn.
tbh dead Luna and living Noct means, that unless Noct suddenly changes his mind and marries someone else, the bloodline of the Lucis is going to end, thus making Ardyn the winner. If Ravus does not have children, the Kannagi bloodline will end as well... so unless the gods play matchmaker for both of them they'll be in trouble lol
I totally agree ! And anyway whatever some peoplw say the ending of the main game us the true one otherwise they wouldn't have put it in the game. And tbh Noctis looked happy and in peace being with Luna in the afterlife while in the alternate ending he looked kind of sad sitting on his throne alone.
@@Nepheos imagine in 2026 we get a ffxv part 2 it turns out iris and noctis had an affair at some point and iris gives birth and noctis' son has to learn to resurrect noct lmao
for some reason, i cried everytime when i watched the true ending... its like we all witnessed the depth emotions he has for Noct. The scene after Noct thanked Iggy, somehow made him remembers this little child that looks like a stillborn baby he guides and protect him throughout their childhood.. it makes me feels like Iggy is somewhat more like a paternal brother/father to Noct.. its like he knew Noct more than how his Father knew about his own son... that tears he has is like a tears of how the boy he raised has become a fine man and a true king.. iggy.. you're a legend
I mean Nocts father knew the fate of his son from the very beginning. Maybe he thought keeping noct away would make the pain hurt less. We will never really know. All we do know Is from the moment he was born, he was born to die and that makes this a tragic story
Simply Nel they don't die it was just a fan theory that people thought it was them talking in the afterlife. They weren't idk how people completely ignore that you camp one last time before heading to insomnia. Also that's why Noctis takes a picture with him to remember them. If they all died together he wouldn't need a picture because they'd be together.
@@simplynel5318 during the credits it's show then traveling to the tombs searching for a way to return the light without killing noctis, I think it's mentioned once.
Yeah it also kinda carriers an uncanny feeling of wrongness. Like I want a happy end for the boys, but ignis just solo-ing thr big bad out of nowhere makes the whole thing feel unearned
Noctis dying at the end is one of the best and least cliche endings to a fucking game what do you mean? The main character living even though hes literally DESTINED TO DIE and thats cliche as fuck. Its great they took an alternate route and was simply like"Noctis died to bring back light to the world and lives in the afterlife with luna" Thats PERFECT.
+redviper57 The fuck are you talking about? You do know there are stories out there where the hero is destined to die and IT IS CARRIED OUT yes? And by the way, it doesnt matter if a ending is cliche or not, it not be cliche wouldnt stop an ending from being shitty as fuck because of the execution and the events leading up to it are shitty. THATS what makes a good ending. For fucks sakes the ending where Noctis dies we have NO IDEA WHAT what in the fuck happened to everyone else including his fighting partners. SHIT ending.
20:08 this shit broke me man.. gladio never shows any emotion aside from rage and occasional happiness, but there’s just pure fear in his voice, we know he and iggy were friends ever since they were in the crownsguard together, or at least we can assume so. we know that iggy was working for the crownsguard at a really young age and gladio can’t have started much after him, and the fear and upset in gladio’s voice is just- i don’t even know how to word it, the fear of losing his best friend of gods know how long, it’s sad as shit. gladio and ignis’s relationship is something so personal to me, just how much they care for eachother through the entire course of the game and for this to technically be one of the only times gladio is actually *scared* considering all the things he’s seen, there’s so much depth to their friendship and it means so much to me 🥲
I love this ending. Noctis as king. Even things with Ravus are good. Iggys words got through and he didn't just become ardyns sick puppet. There's quite a few questions with it but at face value I really like this ending
No matter which ending you do, he still loses his eyesight, and all of them are going to make you question why bad things are happening to this guy in particular , even though MILLIONS of people love him. I literally CRIED FOR 10 minutes, I have yet to ACTUALLY PLAY THE Game, so the other 5 is “why did I watch a heartbreaking spoiler?”
Don't get me wrong, I loved the alternate ending so, so much, but I can't help but to shed tears every time I watch the true ending and see the mirror of a young Noctis and present Noctis shaking Iggy's hand before it shows his face with tears running down it.
If this would have been in the game.. it would have made so much fucking sense. Everything. Why he doesn't tell Noctis, why he behaves how he does. God dammit.
If only they had the time it would have Maybe even have different endings The desperate sacrifice ending, Iggy bad ending, n maybe even another bad ending where Noct turns into darkness, n happy ending where no one dies
hnnnnnnnnnnnnnngh Well, listen. Ignis had no idea who Ardyn really was, and he wasn’t going to tell Noct the future he saw. If he did, that would only discourage him. Noctis had to find out on his own, to find it in himself to accept his responsibility as King.
I don't understand how they all avoided the sacrifices in the alternate ending...I've wondered if it had something to do with Noctis going into the crystal willingly, or if it was something Ignus and the others were able to do from the outside during the ten years Noctis was gone. IDK as much as I love the outcome of the alternate ending I feel like it leaves more questions than the original
Ardyns immortality is due to the starscourge being built up inside of him. Ignis defeated him with the power granted by the kinds released, some of that starscourge. Then, when Noctis and the gang finally do kill him in the end, there is not enough starscourge inside him to keep him going, meaning Noct doesn't have to die to release the full power of the kings to release the starscourge
