Somnus cover by Grissini Project, from the awaited Final Fantasy XV ! Original music by Yoko Shimomura
The release of FFXV was for us a great occasion to upload our cover of Yoko Shimomura's wonderfull Final Fantasy XV theme song, Somnus. Covered for piano trio and vocalist, self-made arrangement and transcription !
Thanks to Marie Caparros, our guest cellist who supersede our regular cellist for this recording !

my god her voice is perfect for this piece. this is almost exactly how i imagined the style of this song should be. the original is beautiful, but i expected a more classical style of singing. beautiful...

Disagree, her voice is too high pitched. The original singer has more weight to her voice, and drives the emotion deeper.

@@Introversion399 no. that’s not really how music works. they transposed it up bc their singer is a soprano. had she sung it lower, it would have lacked some of the qualities you hear here. i’m a soprano myself. it’s beautiful

I'm not undermining the effort and rehearsals, but Grissini your life looks so cool 😁 You and your friends are talented young musicians and you guys play exquisite, complex and moving music. It does look nearly casual, like it just happened while chilling at somebody's pad. "Do we watch Netflix tonight guys? This song is so bittersweet to me and it encapsulates how I feel about the game pretty well. For a number of reasons I like the idea of what this game wanted to show way more than it ever actually did. This cover of Somnus opens my mind to what could be. Thank you Grissini Project!

Thank you for this, I love this song so much since I'm a Final Fantasy Fan since childhood. ^^ I really admire your skill of singing (and your voice is awesome), as well as the violinist, pianist & celloist. :) I'm currently trying to play the same song on my violin, but since I'm a beginner (3 months), it'll be a hard way, but I'll will never get a cover as amazing as this.
