You’ve never played a Final Fantasy like Final Fantasy XVI. Rob has spent weeks drinking in the story, combat and lore to bring you spoiler-free impressions of Clive’s epic tale. Final Fantasy 16 departs from the traditional format of the series, with crunchy real-time combat and a focus on darker political machinations as the world of Valisthea is torn apart by warring nations. Holy hell the 'Active Time Lore' feature sounds like such an amazing idea, it's baffling that nobody thought about implementing something like this decades ago. I throw money at this game just to show my support and appreciation for this feature. I can't stress enough how brilliant I find this.

So happy for everyone that gets to play this. I unfortunately have to wait till the next business check to come in I am literally buying a PS5 just so I can play it. I’m getting the ps5 FFXVI bundle so the system will come with the game. I’m trying my hardest not to watch any more gameplay other than the demo. But here I am watching reviews just to give me something.

I’m actually impressed that I have a handful of times during my current 10 hour play through that I actually gaped at the screen just wondering to myself how did they (1) create something so beautiful. (2) get that particular scene approved. (3) create such a masterclass of a sequence that my eyes are literally melting. Like, I’m wondering from one moment to the next how they’re gonna top what they’ve already done and then I just sort of nod like “yup, that definitely tops it.”

Learned that the voice of Clive his father passed during the making of final fantasy 16 and I think it shows on his performance that scream alone for Joshua reminds of when a mother screams for losing a child I can't wait to experience this 😢

I could listen to rob talk about final fantasy all day, always get an amazing review. I was honestly going to skip this game but after I watched this video I bought it the same day. I’m 85% through so far and absolutely loving it! It’s the first final fantasy since X that the story has gripped me & I love all the characters.

I've bounced off every FF game I've tried, for one reason or another, but after giving the demo for 16 a go I immediately got my preorder in. I'm finally feeling the hype when watching Rob talk about a FF and I can't wait to dive in myself! If I hadn't been sold on the game before, I most certainly am now!

While I understand why they chose to add the active time lore - I am really not a fan of it. I don't want to have to interrupt the flow of a cut scene just to fully understand what I'm watching. I think my favourite lore-tracker was Witcher 3. I like that the codex entries not only told me everything I needed to know about the main characters, but it also updated over time. If I had a break from the game, I could view that codex at any time to refresh my memory. It was also written as if from Dandelion which means I wasn't just taking in a bland block of text. Time lore is a nice idea on paper, but I don't feel like its going to be a winner with all players.

I think Square has finally woken up to the fact that a good if not major portion of FF players are old now. They played the older titles in the series as kids and are now old. I myself am 41, I didn't even start playing FF games until VII, so a lot of the people that played the entries before VII are even older than me. Thank you Square for finally realizing we don't need FF games to be rated teen anymore.

I'm 75. I play and enjoy mostly shooter gamers.I've never played any of this series but I tried this demo and finished it. Is the remainder of the game more difficult? Normally I watch reviews for games I'm excited for, but this is the only thing I'm watching for FF16. The only thing I look forward to more than playing more of the game is hearing Rob gush about it.
