I feel you should have been rolling extra dice when you or Inkanyamba only had the cardboard health token left. the icon with the +1. Referring to the Adrenaline Rush in the rulebook. If either the Final Girl and/or the Killer only has their Final Health token remaining (either black or white), you may roll +1 additional dice for all of your Horror Rolls (+2 dice if they are both down to only one health!). This is indicated by the +1 icon on the back of the Final Health tokens. If additional health is recovered such that they have more than just the Final Health token remaining, this benefit is lost.
Just got my own copy of Slaughter in the Groves this month. Normally I like to try beating a feature film box using that killer and location with both final girls it came with, then starting to mix things up. This time around... I realized that Inkanyamba+Sacred Grove is extra brutal.
Just got the first Wave (season one only so far) from the newer Kickstarter and I'm having a blast! I played through the Sacred Grove recently and I'm fairly sure you have a setup mistake here, which you may know already, since it's been 8 months. The Sacred Grove Bloodlust tracker doesn't replace the normal bloodlust tracker, it goes to the right of it and BOTH things happen when the bloodlust increases. So the killer's speed and damage would have been increasing with bloodlust as usual. It's... so... hard.... SO HARD! I also think that the hearts in the Killer's Wrath are healing the Killer, not harming you, and Incense can't decrease Wrath increases to 0, only a minimum of 1. Thank you for the playthrough. A lot of fun to watch and commiserate!
Holy cats! This had me so stressed out the whole time! Just as suspenseful watching Jamie as watching the movies that inspired this game. And the classic horror movie twist was devastating! I'm wiped out. It would have been cool if you had run into the boyfriend option--we'll call him Jeff--and could have rescued him. That would have been hilarious. Great play through, great game, greatly entertaining. Jamie is the perfect Final Girl.
I don't tend to enjoy watching other people play solo games, but now I've watched both you and Paula play Final Girl, so I'm glad I threw a few bucks at the s.2 KS.
ok I'm late to the party but just got into this game. I noticed that when you're down to the last life, you get an extra dice, when the killer is down to his last life you get an extra dice too - so a few times you could have thrown 5 dice instead of the 3 when you were in the green on the terror track. I really enjoyed your playthrough, I just finished watching the one of the werewolf
There are a few events that introduce victims that play a role of sorts, like a boyfriend or girlfriend, and they introduce mechanics. I got a game yesterday with the first event being "The Damned", which makes the farthest victim the main objective and so Hans beelined for that one. Meanwhile I rescued 6 people in the bonfire with a whistle, secured a boat and swept in last second to rescue the Damned and their make out partner.
Saludos de BOLIVIA. Hey Jaime, love your content. Pretty sure you couldve gotten an extra die at the end due to adrenaline. In my mind you won. Saludos a Jeff.
A few things I noticed during the game: It seemed as though you forgot a couple rules/options. You can sell cards in hand to get time. There were several times you could have got more powerful cards by increasing your time this way. It also seemed like you did not take into account the extra die each when you or the killer had 1 heart left. You also overlooked lowering the horror when you rescued two victims, flipped your final girl card over and ignored/forgot the second victim bonus.
Super fun to watch Jamie, and so tense too! I've seen 3 play throughs of this online but never seen anyone win. Have you ever won? (is it more common than I think? Thanks for the video!
Just played the first game with Hans yesterday and really enjoyed it... Even though I've lost both the boyfriend and the girlfriend.. hahaha. Love the tension offers by the randomness of the rolls, makes the game even more true to its theme.
Great playthrough. You saved a lot of those dummies! LOL! I just received my Kickstarter pack and played the Hans scenario. I failed miserably, but it was very fun nonetheless. I hope I can roll like you next time. It's a hard game to win, but that makes success that much sweeter!
I feel your pain! I finally beat Inkayamba today after like 4 tries... So hard but it feels so rewarding to finally win. I think you would have won if you used your adrenaline dice correctly, i needed every dice i could get my hands on for my playthrough.
Clearly loaded those dice. You were rolling like a real Stephanie which is the reason I will probably never solo this but simply cheer Steph on as she plays
I find you super cool! Luv your videos. I was considering getting Final Girl series 3 All-In Collector; never played it before though i really enjoy solo gaming. Bit expensive though :-/ Please, convince me!
Hi nice playthrough! Love this game! About the sacred groves bloodlustblood tracker, shouldn't it be aside the regular bloodlust track as stated in the setup rules? And about opening the special envelop. The text on the envelop stated: do not open until you have survived a game with Adelaide. Does it mean you have to win a game first before you can open it? Thanks in advance!
Hello! Yes I made a few rules errors in the video, sometimes hard to keep track with all the sets playing a bit different! 😣 I also just opened the envelope to get the full experience but yes technically you should wait until you win with that character!
What!? You did a Final Girl playthrough? 🤯 I love, love, LOVE 80s horror slasher films and love the art work of this game. 🥰 I'm so happy that I was able to catch the second deadline to back this game. I picked up both season 1 and 2 and every additional extra that comes with the sets. Please, please, PLEASE do another solo playthrough!! This was fun to watch and I'd be happy to see another episode. You should incorporate some suspense music in the background. Also some squishy stabbing sound bites and scream sound bites would make it fun too!
My problem with this game is that everything is based on chance of dice roll. It really undercuts any planning done be the player because if you have crappy rolls then all that planning means nothing, and if you roll well then the game is piss easy. I get that is by design, but imo it's a lazy game mechanic.
This kinda seems like Robinson Crusoe on Steroids! Not sure I would play this actually..... Great Vid tho! Very Entertaining and I did feel your Elation as well as your Pain throughout! :-) Keep it up!
This was so entertaining.. Please Please do more I am waiting on my other ones but I do have Gepetto and I was not having fun.. also still miss Jeff but maybe he can do paint with me or something i would totally watch that also I do feel painting is calming but I'm just not good at it maybe get some tips and tricks 😊 Great Playthrough Go Jamie you were on a roll then the dice went bonkers.
I LOVE this game! I have this episode as well! I went all in on season 2. I enjoy a good (or a bad horror film) and I enjoyed Hostage Negotiator as well. So glad to see play through on the channel. I hope we get to see more! One bit of strategy- on the first turn, sell all your zero cards and get 12 time to buy much better cards! You can get some of those four time cards that are really powerful
I thought those little cards in envelopes were surprises and rewards for surviving with that final girl. Were you just using them to show them off and let people know they were in there or do i have that rule wrong?
Question: Do you reveal and play the Final Girl’s “eye’s only” for each of that said girl’s play through’s or is it a bonus after you beat the game with that specific girl? Or haha, is it just player preference??? I’ve only revealed them after beating the game with a specific girl. If you know, could you please clarify? Thanks and good video!
I liked this video a lot. Jamie is amazing, very humorous and entertaining. She explains the rules, while playing, very well, so it was also nicely pedagogical. The editing, the light, everything's great... except the game! You want to "walk"? Throw dice. You want to "short rest"? Throw dice. You want to "long rest"? Throw dice. You want to... Throw dice. Throw DICE. THROW DICE! xD And with little (and very punishing) dice mitigation. Oh you couldn't "walk" this turn? Bummer. Maybe you want to discard your precious action cards, so that you can spend your next turn doing... nothing. What a crazy luck fest! I like rolling dice, but the game - especially when it is this long - has to find the right balance between strategy (forward planning, decision space...) and the luck of the dice rolls. Games like Ghost Stories or even Sleeping Gods (where the "dice" are cards that you flip) that is just behind Jamie allow you to prepare yourself, to plan forward, to try to twist your fate. Here it is just randomness upon randomness, a looong and random dice chucker game with a gloss of "heavy strategy game"... that is the insane upkeep Jamie had to do (literally 75% of the "play" time...). The theme is great though and the game, while busy, does look nice on the table. So, obviously, I disliked the game very much... but I have to give two thumbs-up for Jamie. I will definitely watch more of Foster the meeple's playthrough videos, where even underwhelming games can be very entertaining to watch! :D
Definitely understand! Not every game is for everyone, that’s for sure. Really appreciate the kind words about the editing and Jamie’s skills on front of the camera!
With the killer wrath I'm pretty sure the hearts mean that the Inkanyamba gets health back rather than you losing 2 health. Either way this one seems impossible to me, played 3 times without getting near beating him
Yep, that's right - it's a heal for him. When final girl takes damage it's the yellow pow symbol. I've played about 4 without beating him. That board and killer combo is extremely hard, no matter what tactics you try. Once his finale turns and he gets that extra add on bit to it, it's just carnage.
thanks for the video, i've enjoy it a lot. I've seen several playthroughs of this game (this is the closest to victory i've seen) and I'm starting to think that a good way to play is to roll all 6 dice in set up and use them as a pool, choosing the outcomes among them. when that pool is exhausted, the 6 dice are rolled again and the game continues...
I feel like part of the difficulty in this particular set is that your actions are RNG dependent, but the killer literally just needs to wait for your turn to pass & automatically trigger Horror cards. It's not balanced very well in that sense, you need too many successive throws (without any chance for e.g. saving throws) so the killer gets too strong, too quickly
I was feeling all the feelings you were feeling. I felt just as devastated:( Great playthrough Jamie! I want the Alien and The Thing, I mean Evolmorph and The Organism feature films. I'm not a huge fan of slasher horror, but I love the sci Fi theme. But I'll have to wait for(ever) retail.
Let’s clarify that post. The issue is that the extra component, the Sacred Grooves Bloodlust track, is supposed to be placed “directly to the *right* [emphasis mine] of the chosen Killer’s board, lining it up with the bottom on the Killer’s Bloodlust track.” This means that component does *not* sit on top of the track, replacing the Killer’s normal track. Rather, it sits beside it, *adding* to the woe dealt by the normal Bloodlust track. Hence the comment by the OP that the game should have ended earlier. However, this is still a very entertaining video and I’m glad you posted it.
