I keep saying that the teams who want to come here should have to pay for their own facilities and reimburse the city/county for all expenses. They may need us but we definitely don't need them.
It seems nobody is interested in their ancestors legacy or conserving anything anymore. Nobody cares about their genes, customs, culture, or tradition anymore... particularly in the west. Nobody knows about their grandparents anymore, let alone architecture or buildings. It’s all just me me me me.
The reason these building get torn down a rebuilt all the time is because Vegas is about money. The corporations own the buildings and the city doesn’t tear down the buildings. Tourists want new things and the Tropicana was no longer new or exciting. So it stopped making as much money. They sold the land and that was the end. It is indeed sad but it has happened many many times over the strips history and it’s just how it goes.
I’m sure the Raiders owner Mark Davis told his other Bay Area team owner buddies how much money he made by moving to Vegas. How he made everyone else pay for most of the Stadium and how he makes Biliions off the backs of locals and tourists who never asked for a team here. There is absolutely nothing the little people can do to stop the rich from getting richer. Not one single person asked for the worst run team in baseball to come to Vegas. Yet everyone is forced to pay for it.
Just a waste of money to build a baseball stadium. It’s a beautiful hotel. It needs a little work but to build a baseball stadium and go to a game when it’s 120° are you kidding me wake up Las Vegas it’s history.🎉
Not to mention the special tax zone that is supposed to (but experts believe can NOT) pay for a wealthy condo developer’s condo development that happens to have a ballpark built in it. That welfare mama A’s owner will be holding his hands out for taxpayer money to fund this…and the city will give it to him.
All these stadiums are going to ruin Las Vegas! When people think about Vegas they think about gambling, partying and getting drunk, going to shows and eating at restaurants not going to a stadium to watch a game! They are just ruining Vegas! Having the allegiant stadium and t mobile stadium has already caused so much traffic wherever there is a game . Another stadium is just going to add more traffic. Nobody is going to want to go to Vegas anymore with all these ridiculous games!
What do you want the A’s organization to do about it? Huh? They suck in the Bay Area. No doubt about it. Oakland is just as bad as San Francisco. You can’t live in the past, buddy. The Las Vegas of the past was Mafia-controlled, lots of people hurt and/or killed. Those were dangerous times. Let it go. It’s done.
Is that @wonderhussy at 1:30? The Trop will be missed, that beautiful stained glass ceiling and I thought the themeing was really neat too, Miami Beach ⛱️. It was a great place.
I remember taking my grandfather to the tropicana i think back in 2015 well he was telling me about a special breakfast they used to have with many seated enjoying there meals we got there but even in 2015 my grandfather said it changed so dramatically that he seemed confused so we left and he said everything seemed different so i guess they used to have a great feast back in the day that was very popular can anyone answer this mystery about a legendary breakfast many seated enjoying meals?
Damn! One of the many casino hotels in Sin City that I wanted to stay at, and, lo and behold, the Tropicana closed its doors for good. Eventually, it will be imploded in a similar fashion like the hotels of the past.
Nevada doesn't seem to value history unfortunately. In Reno, they demolished the oldest commerical building downtown: now it's empty lot. The Mapes was demolished years back where Marilyn Monroe stayed. The Tropicana was a nice place and loved the pool. Sad to see it go.
Everyone complaining they closed. Guess what? If people would of patronized it when it was open, it wouldnt be closing now. All the crocodile tears are sickening
I just went to the icl sales site and looked at the furnishing from the Tropicana that are for sell. OMG, that furniture isn't worthy of an old motel 6! No wonder they failed. I visited in January and knew it was dated and tired, but I didn't get to see inside the rooms. Wow. Bally's should be ashamed of themselves for such neglect.
I was able to go to the Tropicana back in 1997 in the early morning in December, and it was mostly deserted with a few old Boomers chain smoking & playing the slots, it was a depressing sight and surprised that it has been around since then.
I can't even watch this this is sick. There is so much developable land to the south in the opportunity to create a new area along the strip and build Subterranean heavy rail Transit connecting to the brightline West train. Yes they just wanted to destroy Vegas landmarks and further drive up room rates of other hotels making Vegas even more unaffordable. It's amazing people don't see what's going on here
This is why I don't go to Vegas anymore. Sad the reality now the Strip will be beyond impossible to go 🚶♂️ down the like before. The Stadium should have been built on the outskirts of town. SRO no thank you.
I wish they build a new casino instead of a baseball field that nobody really wants on the strip of Vegas. But when was the last time a major city build something that the locals of that city really want?
Came all the way from Scotland hey? Hope you girls took some good American money back with you, there's plenty! Hope those good folks find quick employment and are doing well.
They had mafia control history. That why lot of casinos where taken down. And put up new one in it place. This one may of not been control by them. It is time for the new.
Stupid location to put a Stadium. Why not put it up by Apex area. The Casinos ain't making money off gen z because gen z people are naturally broke with no money and they can see this coming. They are turning to sports because it pulls in more cash. They will use the stadium for concerts and generate more cash. Glad I moved out of Nevada before it sold out.
So a classic casino is being torn down for a baseball stadium to be used by a team NO ONE likes. Has anyone ever met a real life A's fan? Do they exist?
