Final, Part 3. This is a more descriptive video of how we used a jig to install mounting plates and spacers for the installation of a Beta 38 into a Westsail 32.
That is a really clear description of the jig! I never knew before how the engine and prop shaft were lined up. I think you are the only 'sailing' channel that has gone to this trouble. Your minimalist style is very easy to watch and listen to (I mean, you don't gabble, and you don't add useless video!). Always look forward to your episodes.
Thank you so much. I think the jig will pay dividends because now I can bolt the mounting legs and the engine should require minimal adjustments. As for the videos, I'll continue to capture the progress, provide some explanations, and keep it quick. I appreciate your feedback.
I made a jig using plywood on our refit. Our pan is similar to yours but a little different - our engine beds are not hollow below - wood stringers. Our Beta 35 arrived in April - the engine is now in - working on exhuast, fuel systems, and electrical. Planning on first fire up by the end of June.
Jig definitely made this an easy installation. I’ve added new raw water strainer, and a new fuel water separator. I also ended up with many useless electrical wires from the old Volvo since the Beta came prewired.
