There is a guy, who rides a 2008 triumph bonneville through the States. Check out his video's on RU-vid. His name is Jake Bolles. Beautiful mini serie. Wonderful footage as well.
You only stalled it four times mate - and told us about one previous - so 5 in total. Japanese bike fan for more than forty years, throughout ALL of the "Rice Burner" and "Jap Crap" slurs (I was there) I am happy to say that I do indeed love the Triumph brand, and always have - but they STILL want to burn my leg and drop me in a puddle when the engine stops - off road. If I was to tell you that my 1969 Sandcast is dubbed "Soichiro San", you would know where my loyalties have always been (purdee close to yours I believe Rich ). Today I heard about summat called dual clutch transmission. Sounds a bit far fetched to me, but I bet Mr Soichiro (RIP) and his team will make it work. We'll see mate. We'll see 👀😘🤣
Great content as always Richy, I love riding around the Peak District it’s my local area but it’s not a place for those soft southern shandy drinkers...😉😉😉
Hi Richie, it is a nice bike but as you say it is tall for us short persons. i kept looking at it while mine was in for service. The 900cc version is smaller though. i am happy with My Tiger 900 GT Pro ticks all the boxes for me.
I own one of these, great on the road as a commuter and great on the trails. Lots of pull, very responsive throttle , great brakes, big wheels. Fun Fun Fun!
Great vid again. I ride all year round. My street triple in storage this year. Bought a crf 250 for commuting and messing about . I love the little thing
Good to see it being used as intended. I solved my tickover issue with a fuel booster plug (who knows if it really works, but I convinced myself it did!). As for the tyre performance on white lines, you are dead right. When mine need replacing, I'll be choosing another brand for sure. Also - Winnats Pass - right again. Keep up the good work.
Beeley looks a bit different after it’s trim! I’ve avoided that lately, worried the lower section would be far too slippy for my caponord on tourances!
Yeah, I was regretting my decision slightly when I got to the lower section. Looks very different, doesn't it! If only I could fit a little log on the back!
Just local, and easy(ish). Been driving/riding down there for 15yrs or more. Some cracking lanes around, just some are a bit *too* dodgy for these premium machines. I defo don't want to be responsible for ruining one for a video!
Richy, when you recommend various passes on your travels, it would help us southerners if you could say “between x village and y town”. At least we would know where to head for, to find them. (Not many passes here in Suffolk! ) The old road atlases are not great at showing the passes by name. I’ve used Google Maps search, but again, not brilliant for actually showing the named passes. Cheers.
It is a great looking bike but do you feel it needs to be a 1200 I know people think power is everything but I personally don’t when off road a 400-700 would be a more manageable bike but what would I know 😂.
Totally. It is dual purpose, yes. The option and freedom is there. And, as this vid shows, is no problem to do it, at all. but, ideally you don't want a big heavy bike for off roading. It becomes very hard work. It is just nice to be able to do so if you so desire.
I genuinely don't dislike the look of the exhaust at all. And, as many have commented, I don't think the heat thing has to be an issue either. Maybe the Speed Twin, for you?
@@user-rf9me7xm1w The only realist cure I can think of is for Triumph to look into at the design level, although I was told that the dealer in Manchester where I bought mine may be able to make some adjustments. I don't really know, just think it's a real pity,I see it as a manufacturing issue and it puts me off an otherwise excellent bike
Looks nice but..... I have had one Triumph, it had numerous problems (2 sets of forks in 3 months, poor starting, other suspension issues) that Triumph didn't want to know about, sold it after 10 months from new. The final straw was the gearbox, going from 3rd to neutral, missing 2nd gear out, Triumph said, there was no problem with it. Not good. Would I buy another, no chance, not even when they look this nice.
@@RichyVida Hi Richy, the video as always is great, you do give a balanced opinion of the bike., including the exhaust issue. Keep doing what you do, its much appreciated.
If you’re a fan of the Triumph Scrambler, read Forgotten Road by Randall Arthur. The whole last half of the book highlights the Scrambler with numerous on-road adventures. The book is a work of fiction, but supposedly the adventures in the book are all based on Arthur’s real-life experiences.
What do you think. Is it possible to do a longer travel with this bike? It looks so awesome. I also like the AT and the Tiger but this Bike is just majestic. What is your opinion can you imagine yourself to do a world travel with this beast? Thanks :-) Nice Video btw
When you said Pindale, I though you were going to go up the rocks, was looking forward to seeing that (if you don't know them, they run next to the outdoor centre, up past the quarry and bring you out on the road you came up - at the top of the rocks, you turn right, then left on the tarmac and then 1st right is the trail you turned down towards Winnats Pass), I've done them on a Pegaso 650 and mates on Transalp 650, Transalp 600 and a R1200GS, so certainly possible, but not easy. With the stalling, I can't tell, but I wonder if you got a bit of crap in the side stand switch and it was cutting rather than stalling? Not sure though, you'd know more by feel. But the tickover does sound low.
Yeah it's stalling, not cutting out. Had a lot of comments from owners saying the same. If you want to see me on Pindale Pass, you can watch me wrestle the big Africa Twin down it (bad idea). Search for "Getting Into A Spot Of Bother On The Africa Twin" on my channel ;-)
Big balls rich going out in middle of winter in the snow and rain my vfrs are tucked up in bed in the garage till march !! Enjoy not a off road fan will stick to fast sweeping bends and going in the yorkshire dales.
Great vid Richy and good to see someone doing some serious off-road on one, especially in N Derbys. I guess the stalling is because of the gearing? If you’re doing a lot of trail riding wouldn’t you prefer to gear it down a bit? And those tyres are actually neither here nor there for winter off roading in UK. I’d swap em for a more trailie set to deal with the mud. Loved that one......now go and get yourself a hot cup of tea! 😉👍
2 wheeled landy, like made for that conditions... gosh, luv that sound of the motor... and no knobbier ones on that pls, one just throws away that beauty in evry wet corner. ;)
I live very west of you on the same north-south access, been thinking of doing more muddly lanes, what kind of bike would be best a Motorcross or a Scrambler?
Epic! Fair play to you, sir. Great to see someone that’s really not afraid of bad weather/using the bike as much as they can. Loving the video’s, fantastic to watch. Fresh cuppa daaaannnn saaaaaaaafffff if you’re ever over the New Forest way. Stay cool man. 🤜🤛
Top draw mate, even in the snow you’re prepared to give it a go 🎼😉 So if you where on the AT or the Beemer would your arms of been aching 🤔🤔 Ride Safe Baza 🤘😎
I don't think I would, no. It is very comfy, and a pleasure to ride, but not sure I'd want to do the snowy Scotland trip on one - esp not on those tyres.
Yup RV.. theres alot about that i like.. didnt have a clue about the Bond thing lol🤣 .. anyhoo, that showed us what the Scramblers capable of, looked a bit nippy👍great viewing . Good to see youre continuing do well too 🤓
No better place to be on a Sunday morning....mmmmmm let's think about that for all of a split second 🤔 nah, I'd rather be in the hoose or the garage, in the warm this time of the year...👍👍
Another great vid with some class riding on those tyres....Bloody hell mate, I'd have dropped it all over the place. Just an all-round good watch and thank you sir.....Keep u'm coming (y)
Fom Australia: Thanks Richy for all your vlogs, always interesting, well produced, informative, and entertaining. Stay safe and enjoy the festive season. Cheers
@@RichyVida do you find it a bit annoying that it's "always on", in the sense that you can't slip the clutch or blip the throttle to balance the bike? I never took mine off road but I found that an issue when commuting in traffic, I imagine it's much more of an issue off road.
Looks good, I had similar concerns when I first saw it with that high line side exhuast. As you say fine for winter though. Were you having flashbacks to your trip to God's country with all that snow?
I must congratulate you Richie mate, when you give a review, you take it everywhere. Thank you. I bloody hate washing bike so avoid the mud and puddles lol.
As Triumph are pushing bikes to you, I would love to see you get your mitts on the new Tiger 900 Rally Pro, and do a comparo with the AT!! Love your videos buddy!!
@@RichyVida Fantastic!!! Stoked to see your thoughts on this vs the AT. Two bikes that are on my list ..once all the snow and ice has left here, in Canada...lol
Living in Northumberland I still ride my top spec GSA 11 months of the year, get out there it’s not for sitting in the garage. Plenty of guys out round here unless it’s really icy...
Again a good vid Richy,re the stalling issue it seems they all do it and the advice I was given is to keep blipping the throttle, keep a few revs on e.t.c. what a load of old pish, you shouldn't have to do that on a bike in this category at this price point, its let me down loads of times at lights, junctions, and in town traffic, its a real pain that's when its not cooking your right leg. All that said I like the bike but it's only OKish for me and a bit of fun on a Sunday morning as opposed to reading the paper. Still considering the Africa twin that will do it all without the bloody engine cutting out . I think Triumph need to address these exhaust and cutting out problems
I would not recommend relying on off road modes on a bike if you need technology to ride a bike off road stay on the tarmac I'm not saying you need it richy you are like me we started has kids on the bikes riding around in the muck keep safe out there
Yeah good point. You should absolutely not rely on technology in any case. The reason I do switch into "off-road" modes when in the muck is to see how it performs differently. But yes, I agree. Relying on technology is only going to end in tears.
