goes to show that sonic and shadow look really good in cell shading. If only Sonic Riders did that, or if a new sonic riders game was made, they could have cell shading on their models.

To this day every time I hear the lines in that scene I wonder what where they originally planning to do with the plot of SA2, it's pretty obvious that they were working towards some sort of big reveal about Sonic's true nature that got completely dropped by the time Sonic Heroes was released.
I never thought of it that way, it seems to me that Sonic has always been a kind of supernatural abnormality within the actual lore of the games, and I really hope Sega gives us some kind of answer to what he really is at some point
@@shuacraft9193 it's kind of there in the background as hints in some games, the murals in Sonic 3&K and Sonic Adventure 1 were some of the most overt clues, but they either forgot or abandoned whatever they were originally planning. I've always suspected that they were working towards some big reveal and maybe an ending to the larger story and when Sega restructured after merging with Sammy the new guys in charge shut down any plans of ever ending the series since it kinda happened around the same time the plot started to change direction and Shadow was retconned to have survived.
its clear in the japanise version (you can watch it subbed on here) that shadow was a fake made after the fall of the ark. the real project shadow was ejected and never found. Shadow never met maria and what he knows of her according to sonic battle is just a trigger to give him free will or to drive him to destruction. the plot of sa2 is that sonic is project shadow. it was based off the murals of him in the mystic ruins thats why they made artificial chaos that's why he can use chaos controle and why he is blue and why at the end he says sayonara shadow the hedgehog. because he was there when maria said that to him. gerald only heard that was her last words along with give them a chance to be happy or something like that. so sonic saves the world and lives his life for maria.

Not goanna lie, it would be mad cool if we get a section like this in the new jet set radio reboot since Sega has been trying to create some synergy between franchises. AKA other super monkey ball characters.
I wish some of the other 3D Modern Sonic games were cel-shaded or want the upcoming new 3D Modern Sonic games to be cel-shaded which both would suited well and look more like anime-esque style for both the 3D Modern Sonic games and Sonic characters. Why are only Sonic Shuffle, Sonic Runners and when Tails, Amy and Knuckles were digitized in Sonic Frontiers cel-shaded, is it because the SEGA and Sonic Team company doesn't have high budget enough or does it take longer to make cel-shaded graphic for some of the other 3D Modern Sonic games as well?
Cel shading is just a visual style, it doesn't really cost anything to do, though in some of the examples you mentioned it would be an additional graphical style in addition to the primary graphics and that would require a bit more money and some more assets and textures to be done. They just didn't want to use it for those games. Tbh I don't think that it actually works particularly well for Sonic because the colours are too vibrant and having cel shading makes the different parts of the character model harder to discern (see Sonic The Fighters as an example of what happens when you get a character that's mostly a single colour against a background of that same colour and only use a couple of banded layers of shading) The Heroes era of the series is really awful to look at for exactly that reason and cel shading would only make the issue worse. Everything is too bright and saturated and it gives me a headache. I'm not saying that it can't work, but I am saying that it would be really easy for it to be awful, especially if you compare it with a more naturalistic approach to light and shadow which allows you to keep the characters brightly coloured whilst being readable and distinct from the background elements, without making the background look muddy and desaturated.
