@@Justic_ it's kind of implied in the games that champions last a long time, and "undefeated" likely refers to all battles, and the title of champion doesn't hang on the line except for specific ones

@@Justic_ I'm exclusively referring to the games, which are separate from the manga. In the games it's kind of implied that lance was champion and that he lost to blue, which lost to red, which gave up the position, which made lance champion again, probably because blue didn't want to be champion knowing red was stronger. After that, all the trainers who beat the champions have legendaries, which, lore-wise, makes them absurdly strong. The only exception would be alder losing to iris, but alder had already lost his partner long ago, after which he no longer searched for strength, and hadn't had a serious battle in a long time except for his defeat against n. Cynthia can't even remember the last time a trainer posed a threat to her in the sinnoh games. In the games, champions seem to be largely unchallenged and leave more often by choice than because of a loss.

@@Justic_ remember that before gen 5, the elite 4 had a hierarchy of strength, it wouldn't have been difficult to remove the weakest one and just move the others down. As for the legendaries, while not mandatory in every game, it's very clear that the developers intended for the player to capture them, even if they allow you to fail. Also, the battle with alder, even if canon, would probably not be representative of his strength lore-wise as the player has a legendary available to him. As for cynthia, her dialogue implies she's been champion for a long time, so I doubt she's young.

@@Justic_ ok, but even if we assume that there was no sitting champion in kanto, that still doesn't matter towards the original argument of the length of a champion's reign, as for the legendaries, what I mean, is that the developers give you the option of not capturing the legendaries, but they clearly intended you to catch them from a lore perspective, since it would make zero sense that a team of six regular pokemon could take down a legendary. Even if we assume that they just harmed them enough to get them to stop rampaging, that feat alone would make them horrendously strong and clearly an anomaly among champions. The fact that a trainer of that strength can find a challenge in a battle against a champion is clearly a mechanic to make the game playable and not the champions being strong, also, levels are widely regarded as non-canon so we can't really use that as a basis for determining character strength. But back to the original argument, the games all seem to elude to champions lasting very long and leaving by choice or some other factor, instead of being defeated, the player is just an anomally in the games and defeats the champion with their absurd strength

@@sarthakarora3212 Don't get me wrong, for a long time Unova was my favorite for those exact reasons. I didn't do all events, mostly because I couldn't, but I still knew they existed and held Unova in high regard. But the Crown Tundra helped Galar jump from second to first place for me personally.

My reason I prefer unova to galar is the difficulty. I don’t get the same rush of happiness after grinding for hours and hours and finally beating elesa as I do first trying every gym. I do get where u are coming for in content tho
