Well done on this task!Enjoyed Volare especially. And Delilah. I guess one could say that makes you a black and orange spotted warbler now. Darren, I love your videos. I’m itching to fly those sublime English hills. Could you point me toward a site that would clue in an aging but still game yank pilot (first flew HG in’73) who wants to fly there next summer? I won’t have a glider so will need to rent. And possibly get certified there, so how might I get all that sorted before I come over?
Renting in the UK may be a problem - but you could probably find someone who will rent you a glider. The best place to come to is the Hope Valley in the Peak District. There are hills close together that take many different directions. As for getting certified - Steve Hudson works in that area. Peak Airsports I think.
Hi Darren. Well done with the videos. Just a bit of feedback from a friend, who has also started a youtube channel. I look forward to your feedback. You could do with a better sound system? Mike closer? Noise cancelling? The wind is obviously present, or you're falling out of the sky. I get that, but the sound could do with improving. Also, what about trying to educate your audience? How to thermal? What's the vario telling you as you thermal? Great work, I've binge watched hours ;-)
Thanks Vince... so sound - I have experimented previously with: different sound recording, noise cancelling software, different mufflers and so on. All these things made it worse. And for a lot of effort. There IS a new 360 camera with a really good mic that makes the sound REALLY clear. But... over £600 for the system is more than I'm willing to pay. Unless... you want to buy me one? ;-) I don't exactly make much from this and it's about effort/cost vs reward. And I have been told SO many times how great the sound is compared to other videos. Sometimes it gets worse if I accidentally knock the muffler when fiddling with the camera, but generally it's ok. Your other ideas - nice ideas. I HAVE done some of that before, including how to thermal and I have a video waiting to go live about the vario. But it could do with an update and more videos on this... nice ideas and THANK YOU for all your support!
