THANKYOU SIR!! You’ve absolutely pulled my grade up along with Mr everything english❤️ Together you’ve helped me so much, and i’m so glad i’m at the final home stretch! WE’VE GOT THIS
@mrbruff Thank you so much I did AQA and we go the most easy questions Lady Macbeth as a powerful female character and how does scrooge learn lessons on life. I' hope to get an 8/9 like my mocks. You were great help during my revision. I'm so glad I got to do my exams this year in Y10 rather than next year in Y11 as we got easy questions this year. Can't thank you so much.
Anyone else getting cooked for tommorow??? I'm predicted an 8/9 and yet I have not memorised any quotes so far for the actual exams so I'm screwed and it's currently midnight so good luck everyoneeeee
@@Lucy-cu2mv HELP BRO SAME I tried condensing mine sm broo it's nor even funny like I have grade 9 analysis but I don't remember ANY of it I hate how these exams are all jist memory based and not skills urghh
No, you do not need to begin with the extract. AQA have mentioned this a couple of times in exam reports now. Basically, you should write about the extract when it's relevant to your answer. So in the Macbeth example in this video, you might start with how the witches are presented in A1S1 before moving on to explore the extract. The main thing is you MUST write about both the extract and the wider text. When you do that will vary depending on your idea.
@@mrbruff Does the ratio between the paragraphs you write for the extract and paragraphs you write from the wider text matter? Can you do 1 from the extract and 2 or 3 from with wider text
Here before it happens, will return after to see how it went. My prediction: it hopefully goes well? Good luck everyone!!!🎉 Update: ACC was absolutely horrific because of the extract, MB was a blessing😂
If you are using quotations from the wider text, do you need to refer to the exact act or scene it is taken from, or can you just talk about the plot-point?, e.g. 'take my milk for gall' is from Lady Macbeth's soliloquy after reading Macbeth's letter.
Talking about the plot-point in relation to the extract is absolutely fine, I don't think memorising the act and scene for each of your quotes is necessary.
Hi, how many paragraphs should I write for each Paper 1 question (AQA), subsequently, how many points do you recommend I make in each paragraph, and may you recommend what points to use. I have previously been writing six paragraphs, with 4/5 points (point, quote, language, effect on reader) per paragraph, and have been getting high 6’s/7’s and would like to get a grade 7-9. Any advice is appreciated 🙌 EDIT: was brutally aired
I've always been taught to write 1 introduction and then 3 detailed paragraphs, 4 if you have time (I get grade 8s and 9s btw, so I don't think its about how much you write, but what it is you're writing) x
hi for paper 1 for literature aqa what will actually be on it? is it macbeth, a christmas carol and the anthology poems (power and conflict) because i am really confused as to what i am supposed to be revising.
Do we have to have an introduction and conclusion for the essays because I didn’t use them in my mocks and still got a good grade and my teachers never said we need to?
The 2022 exam report said '‘Many students began their response with what amounted to a thesis statement which outlined their understanding of what the question was asking and how they intended to approach it, thus displaying from the start the potential for a ‘clear, explained response. Though not necessarily gaining marks in itself, this approach has the benefit of making the students get clear in their head at least a framework (thus a kind of plan) before they get into the body of their response.’ PLUS An introduction can be very useful if it demonstrates your understanding of what the question is asking and how (briefly) you will go about answering it. It always gives you a reference point to go back to in order to check you have not drifted off-topic.'
If forget the exact quotation is it okay to summarise the quote you have in mind? I have a habit to just blank when in exam conditions now I think about it I don’t even think that’ll help knowing previous mocks I’m gonna remember everything but the question topic
You can infer to a quote but it needs to still be somewhat similar to the original quote to not be marked down for it. Slight errors would be fine though
June 2017 exam report: ‘ ‘It is worthwhile pointing out that examiners are looking for references, which covers a number of things; references to details of the text (incidents, characters, settings); paraphrasing; quotations.’
No. I go through that when talking about ao2 here AQA English Literature Paper 1 Section A: 2024 Update (with 'Macbeth' Example) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4YJIfbm-3vs.html
