UBel is a sorcerer - she understands magic as an emotion and feeling. It's such a great concept for a sociopath to learn magic though empathy. A Walking paradox.

Remember how Frieren said she was helping people for her own sake in the first few episodes? This episode we learn why she says that. It's such a good callback.

Himmel said his favorite food was rice omlet or "omurice" in Japan. It is pretty tasty! But yeah, Stark and Himmel are petty similar. Especially since he's falling for a mage... I like how the groups kindaa still hang out with each other and somehow Laufen has been adopted by Denken. Fern's happy walk is the best.

Yeah Laufen is just a very (very) secondary character, we almost never see her, yet I really like her. In part because of how she acts like Denken's granddaughter.

i think this episode is one of my favorites from the entire season ngl. i just love seeing all those colorful and nicely written characters interacting with each other outside of all these battles and whatnot

Tough call. KYS has to be the top episode. Bu t this one is delicious too. Still I favor 28 as the best overall. But Fern vs. clone is pretty epic.

Something I didn't catch the first time I watched is that even though Ubel can copy other people's spells, they're not 100% the same as the original. When Wirbel used his paralyzing spell, all the lines seemed... firm? Solid? But when Ubel uses it, the lines are kinda wibbly wobbly, which probably means that it's a bit weaker than Wirbel's version. Perhaps Land (the blonde glasses guy) does have a point when he said that Ubel's intuitive casting style is lacking in fundamentals.

I've got in mind that Frieren can eat those huge plates of food because mana generation might be involved. As in, a normal person would be full after one steak, but mana users might eat extra to power their mana generation. I count Warriors amongst the mana users, as their feats are also superhuman, so Stark's birthday meal would plausibly also reflect this idea. As a by the way, love your reactions together. I've watched multiple reaction channels go through the Frieren series already, but this has been such a fun show to watch the reaction channel community respond to. It has joined my list of touchstone movies and series that I can watch to gain a sense of where a reactor is coming from.

This is the point where Fern got a bit annoiying. Absolutly no reason to be mad at Stark who literally did nothing wrong besides spending HIS OWN FREE TIME as he wants while the other two are away.

You're right in saying Denken is cool - but not at cool as he's going to be revealed to be. If only they had all listened to him; all 18 that passed the first test would pass the second. And even apart from the tests, he sees all the mages as future friends and allies.

I always feel like she could become a great antagonist, like Fern's rival in a decade when they'll become hella strong (to me they seem to be the two with the most potential for growth).
