Normally, Fix would've destroyed his opponents with those attacks & intensity, but side defense & the strength of Gilman nullified Fix. I sure would like to see Gilman & Lee. I know they're training together but it would be a good match.
Jurry Taalib-Deen me to I think him & spencer Lee would b a good match but Fix just didn’t look comfortable n that natch he just doesn’t wrestle him good he takes long shots & he uses a lot of energy on those bad shots Gilman def is good but not that good to me
Keno Noke Gilman was very conservative on offense. He more so counterattack, which definitely worked in his favor. Lee, is so technical & masterful, then Fix & would be a greater adversary to Gilman.
Keno Noke Gilman staled the whole time and stayed back. That's why Fix was shooting from space like that. It's freestyle wrestling, lets see some action. Gilman knows Fix is the better Freestyle wrestler so he stays back and wins off staling every time. Go back and watch all their matches in freestyle.
John Smith I didn’t want to say that but yes ! Gilman doesn’t do anything to me fix to me is a better wrestler, but Gilman is the typical Iowa wrestler bang bang then wait for tht 1 shot no offense to Iowa but fix has to have more confidence & just wrestle his style Gilman makes him wrestle his style is this the “John smith my idol lol cause If so I’m the happiest man alive right now lol
You know the rules of freestyle. exactly why defensive wrestling and mat awareness is more important in freestyle. You gotta be the best wrestler by apadting to these changes exactly why some college greats never have world dominant careers. Offense is not the only key to winning as in folkstlye
If you think Gilman stalled the whole time then you obviously don’t know wrestling. He kept better position than Fix and 90% of Fix’s shots were from way outside. Gilman was picking his shots and did a good job of holding the center of the mat when he could. Solid match by both guys.
Bocaj Rewop glad I’m not the only one who noticed his crap shots trying to force a stalling call. Sometimes he was barely touching gillman and was trying to shoot in.
You gotta take more than one shot in two matches. Fix resorted to outside shots because Gilman was only trying to keep position and nulify. Gilman wasn’t trying to be the offensive wrestler.
Well, the rules for passivity in international freestyle are a bit different for collegiate wrestling. Gilman took ONE shot that whole match. He didnt attack or initiate much. So, per the rules, he was the passive wrestler, and should have been penalized for it.
Yep. Freestyle is still broken. Stall all match. Get two out-of-bounds and you win. Not saying that Gilman might not be be the better wrestler. But the system and scoring of Freestyle still incentivize shitty defensive matches. It's no wonder that Wrestling is continually on the chopping block for the Olympics.
There is an art to defensive wrestling and it is and should remain a key part of the sport, because at the end of the day what really happened is Fix tried as hard as he could to take Gilman down, and couldnt. Great match up fix is a beast but Gilman is well seasoned and strong. Its very apparent he learned greatly from his failures in college
I can understand this statement for this match. But not for a wrestler like Dake, who is active and constantly looking for counter attacks, shots/defends, throwbys, etc. This match had none of that, only stalling.
@@jsea8987 This match is an outlier in that respect. Watch any of the big international freestyle competitions and it becomes apparent that folkstyle, while by no means broken, is actually the style with some issues, not freestyle. Besides, I actually found this match equal, if not more entertaining than most championship matches at the NCAA tournament recently.
Gillman took not one shot the whole match thats y he was on the clock. Yea he fid stall the whole match staying a defense wrstler is stalling if your not working a move or to a hold.
I hated the way Gilman wrestled only way he got his points was just punching satin out of bounds. While Daton was actually trying to shoot and score trying to do something not just sitting there doing one thing
I would like the rules from before to return and the fighting mode from before was better now they can't touch or submit like before and they screwed up the game with the new rules
Olympic wrestling is defense first. Re-attacks second and offense third. This formula is how the Russians and Iran dominate. The U.S. is offense minded first and that is why the U.S. isn't always the best in World Freestyle Events. We lack the defensive and re-attack skills of Russia and Iran. But on the other hand, they lack the offensive skills that the U.S. wrestlers have. This match shows improvement in our training. We are starting to catch up to top nations in defense and re-attacks. For so many years i've seen our wrestlers attack, attack, attack only to expose themselves to the re-attack. That's how we get beat. Aside from Jordan B. and Kyle S. who have superior offense, our wrestlers need to focus more on re-attacks and defense. Freestyle also needs to stop with the pushout point. Maybe 3 pushouts and then award a point. Not 1. That might have a huge impact on wrestling.
They should have given the match to Fix because he can bench press 60 lbs more than Gilman can. What they could have done is give the match to Fix, and then Gilman would have taught Fix his moves so then Fix could have won in the world team matches.
Wrestling is about who can WRESTLE better, not who can bench press more wins. Just giving a person a win is stupid, I’m sure you don’t know ver much about wrestling.
Uhhhh, you're the one who's the stupid person because you obviously can't read what I wrote. Wresting is strength AND moves. Fix has the strength. So you give the match to him. And then ask Gilman to teach Fix the moves out of patriotism. If he isn't patriotic, then the wrestling organizers can pay him $1000 to teach him his moves. You can buy a lot with $1000. But you're too stupid to know that, eh?
You’re a fucking dumbass, You 180d out of your original argument, From saying give the match to fix like its a bar of chocolate and then “Have Gilman teach fix” “Out of patriotism”, And wrestling is Skill, If you can bench press 60 pounds more than your opponent, You can push your opponent away better. That’s what bench press muscles do, Push. Away. Gilman won because he knew about fix’s techniques and how to counter them effectively. If Gilman could press more than fix could, It doesn’t matter. Just because your opponent can bench press 60 pounds more doesn’t mean they should win. But I guess you’re too stupid to know that, Eh? Fucking stupid people trying to make themselves sound smart.
Yet again, Gilman got away with doing nothing and gets the win? They need to correct this. Fix was constantly the aggressor, but loses because of stalling wins matches?
