CHRIS KARSSEBOOM that’s a load of crap scores are low in underdeveloped weights (reason why Gilman and Fix won’t medal anytime soon) because guys aren’t offensive enough. Look at Burroughs match scores, always atleast 10 points scored between him and the other guy. Why? Because that’s the deepest weight in the world. Defense might’ve gotten better, but by no means is Gilman a poster child for good defense, he stalls and wants to remain in a fist fight the whole match because he isn’t technical enough to do anything else.
This sport will evolve into every wrestler wrestling on there knees due to the lethalness of shooting and way way way higher scoring. I counted more face slaps and fake shots than any real offense in this.
True but this is freestyle and Daton needs to make better decisions than that. I think Daton is still a little ahead of Gilman but just barely and he cannot afford mental mistakes like that. I think it will come down to Fix and Lee just like it did in juniors so many times.
@@strabe30 Ya, you are literally right. I just saw two Americans go at it. The tournament lacked much of the big guns though, this is why Fix and Gilman were in the finals. Still, I don't see either one winning a worlds or olympic with their excessively defensive style. Spencer Lee has the right style to do it. Our wrestlers need to be scoring machines in order to win on the world level.
Steven Thury Because of this one match you’re saying this? Gilman has already taken silver at Worlds. This isn’t Folkstyle, these guys are all world class. “Scoring machines” is a ridiculous term to use for international wrestling. It’s a different ball game. Lee is my boy but Gilman is going to be right there with him competing for a spot at trials in April.
