AWESOME WORK 👍 Seeing the channel jump from 396 to 2.88k in a day shows RU-vid is a close knit community and seeing a Team working hard and putting the customer first is why I'm here now, The team work and knowledge you share with us makes it great to watch, Keep up the great work 🙌👍
I love watching his channel also! That’s awesome! I think so too, just because of the wide variety of stuff we get ourselves into!😂 Thank you again!!!!!!!!
I'm glad I subscribed the other day when Puddin' gave you a shout out. Awesome channel so far. Watched a few of your older videos. Very interesting channel. Have an awesome day. 🥰🥰
You should make a video explaining how all these work for us city folk who only seen these on tv lol! Also, maybe explain your fancy rig! Keep up the content! Looks like it can be hard work!
I have been thinking the same thing. The lift and checkvalve design has been around for centuries, but a short tutorial on how the system works would be very helpful to the city folk who never saw a hand pump out at the farm. And yes - do a walkaround demo of the rig! Love heavy equipment!
fascinating occupation, I'd never thought how one would go about repairing a windmill. Very cool to see your experience at work. love to learn more and thank you!
Thank you! It is different for sure! We are glad people want to see what we do, that is why we started it, because a lot of people said they had never heard of it, so we gave it a shot! Thank you for watching!!!!!!!!
I know almost nothing about wells/pumps but it seems to me that there was some backyard shade tree repairs going on (not very good) prior to your involvement. Great job repairing that well. Puddin said to say Hi.
Hello!!! Well people try to save money where they can, but the they don’t understand how heavy the parts are, and usually we end up fishing parts out of the well. Other times, it is just people making repairs and not knowing how to time the windmill, etc……which we will get into on today’s job! Thank you for watching!
Ole puddy-tang said you needed our assistance. 😂 We're here to assist. And we brought Rupert too!! Keep us interested, teach us all you know about windmills and we're gonna help change your life. Glad to be here.
Only reason I know. Am an old veteran in Florida and I worked in the submersible pump ( large pumps) field for many years. Loved my job but had to retire because my body was in bad shape. Anyway I now live my dreams thru your channel. Be safe
Man thank you!! I’m afraid I’m taxing my body also…….im gonna pay for all this one day. But, it feeds the family and there isn’t anybody else around here that wants to do it. Well services around here are smart and won’t touch a windmill, but I’ve always loved them, so we do it. Have a great day sir!
Puddin’ and Theo sent me over to ya and I subscribed on your previous video and I sure am happy now. I’m from Va. and own a 1790’s French Huguenot home that’s on the Historical society. 2,600 sq ft home with 7 fireplaces and one of my two wells has this set up. Now I know how I can fix it! Preciate Ya!!! Keep up the excellent work!
Awesome!!! Well holler if you need info! Plane tickets are cheap also😀! That’s got to be awesome! I love watching this old house and I know exactly the type of home you have, amazing!!!! Thank you for watching!
Well you will have to wait! Next video will have that! There was actually another tubing leak, so we are going back and redoing everything. It pumped fine by hand, but the windmill couldn’t keep up with the leakage. Thank you for watching!
Hay water flowing! Ya man! Would love to see it pumping with wind power! I think it would be interesting to see the pump in pieces, but cleaned up and going back together! Maybe you could ask the boss if you could get 1 a new strap because I’d hate to see it break on you! 2 Also on our Pump trucks we have a wired remote control that plugs in so we can raise and lower right at the wellhead and not have to use the foot ! Hard work you did a great job doing it by yourself!😅
Hey thank you!! Stand by for part 2, and you will sort of see it pumping by wind. I have since went back and replaced the bad pipe and pump. I wasn’t happy with the outcome, and in my worn out state I was in without mama, I also screwed up, and I show all that. Yes sir I will be more descriptive and do more pump rebuild soon!!!!! The Pulstar actually does have a wired remote but I’m trying to track down an issue on it. The minute I plug it in, it goes into high idle(fast cable speed), and it’s hard to do pipe work inside a tower at the high speed, and it’s too jerky. Yeah I have a replacement strap, but I love that ole strap, and the video makes it look a lot worse than it actually is, but it’s still frayed which is a no no. Thank you so much for watching and please stick around and watch out other videos. Next one I should have done prolly Thursday or so. Another long one, so get yer popcorn ready!
Our wired remote has a button for fast and slow. Also, the wired remote does not move as smoothly as the levers. But it is nice when you’re by yourself. I’ve learned to just bump the button to get a little movement not like 3 inches. Anyway I hope you have a wonderful day, sir.
I wish mine had that button. I think it’s under the dash on the controller for the hoist speed control. I have tested switches, wiring, the remote, etc…….cant find anything. Again, thank you sooooo much for watching and commenting! You have a great day too!!!!!!!
I think you should have a remote starter on your truck so you could shut it off when you're not using it it would save a lot of fuel and wear and tear on the engine of the truck I like your videos you are a very special person to be able to do this be careful and goodbye take Care of Mama
Worked on an thru many of these back in my youth even take them down and put back up after repairing the wells here in the Tri-state area of OH/IN/MI as we are a large Amish area. We have been in the Water Well Drilling & Repair since 1966 here in NW OH, nice to see how other folk do things and the equipment and tools the use. Quite a few 3 legged Aermotors in my area as well ! Keep up the good work no clue what your wells are for depth or gpm but ours produce plenty, higher statics some even flow and average less than 200'. 1.5'' a bastard size for water systems I agree as pipe sizes used to pass inside/thru each other. Fishing stuff out of a well omg that's a treat in itself! Would liked to have helped maybe could have shown you some tips or tricks to help some of them pipes would never have went back in.
Howdy there! I’m agree, I wouldn’t normally have put them back in, but the conversation was had that they could last a week and were coming back or 10 years. They opted to just get it pumping again for a party on June 6, and see how it lasts after that. Yes I love seeing the way other people do things as well in our industry. I bet there are a lot of windmills up in your area! Thank you for watching and subscribing!!!!!!
Nice to see you got a little bump in subs puddins community is great. Keep up the good work!! Also was around how much does the full stack pump and pipe weigh
Watched 2 + hours and didn't get to see the clean up, finish of the assembly, or water flowing. Would of been nice also to hear what the cost to customer was. Disappointing. I'm sure you were exhausted from your day. I am however looking forward to more videos. Thanks for taking the time and effort to share your expertise with us. Best wishes.
Be interesting to show how the works under the bonnet function. Fascinating how something that spins around causes something else to go up and down! Thanks!!
Are you going to film the finished product pumping in the wind? This was a great video growing up my grandpa only bought Dempster's and sometimes would pull their own valves and replace leathers, so this brought me back ( minus the craine)
Yes! We are going back today and will get some windmill pumping action(if the wind is blowing) lol! I hope these take people back to wherever they were in their lives, and were around an old windmill!
Just a tip I would have swapped the pipes around and put the good pipes at the bottom on the pump and the rusty pipes at the top But that was a crazy setup
Great job! I went to Tamaha Oklahoma years ago and bought my first windmill from a guy raising blackberries and pecans. His well went dry and was selling out and moving to California. The windmill is one of those Kansas jobs, can’t remember the name now? Thanks for the video but you might set up a tall tripod sometime, the looking up and down triggers the old vertigo in me. I hope you made it to church on time. From Atkins Arkansas.
Howdy in Arkansas! Thank you for watching! Yes, the head mounted camera was probably not the best idea, although many people suggested it. I have to look around too much for it to be a comfortable watch. Tripods are next! Thank you for the suggestion! Did you get the windmill put up? Thank you again for watching and subscribing! I hope you keep liking what we are doing! Have a great day!
Dont want to tell you how to do your job but if you would tap the couplings on the pipe coming out of the hole it will come apart easier. Love your channel
New sub from Puddin. Enjoyed the video as it was very educational and entertaining. Sorry about your finger getting pinched bad enough to draw blood. Would like to have seen the ending though and the windmill itself actually pumping water. Maybe in another video. They do make a chest harness for a camera if you think it might be easier than the head mount all day long in the heat. Of course it might make a good sweat band. Thank you.
Hahahaha thank you! It did redirect sweat for sure! It happens all the time, and I don’t like gloves because they immediately get wet and just not as good as the ole bare hand. I have thought about the chest mount but scared I would break the camera immediately. Thank you for watching and subscribing!!!!!!!
no water in pipes-first 2 lengths, issues below, as soon as you kicked cheater out of the way, i knew you'd need it and did, good video. 1 1/4, 1 1/2, 2" galv well pipe common in iowa, be thankful it's not 10 below zero out.
Haha yep! The wife said the same thing about the cheater! Yeah it’s crazy, been doing this since 2004, and I think that’s the first 1-1/2 I’ve ever seen down hole! I know it’s out there, but just never seen it! Haha. Thank you for watching!!!!!!
Yep, we ended up replacing it! I wasn’t happy with the way it turned out, but stand by, I’m working on the replacement video now. Thank you for watching!!!!
How many times did you go up and down that ladder? Train a spider monkey to hook that thing up on top. You can train one for a bunch of bananas. (jk). New watcher and I'm hooked.
Haha about a million it feels like. So normally with pipe that isn’t as terrible shape as this was, the “dog” slides up and down just fine, but this junk it wouldn’t, but if mamas there, I can slide it up from the ground 8’ at a time, but when I’m solo, I have to climb…… thank you for watching!!!
I only service one that provides water as household water. It pumps the water into a larger tank where it is then pumped electronically to the house as pressurized water. Thank you for the question and for watching!!!!
Interesting! When we pull a pump disturbing the well we put chlorine to kill the bacteria that could be introduced. Once the new pump is installed, we pump it out until there’s no more chlorine before we hook it back into service for the house. Do you do that too?
Quick question! My uneducated brain is curious as to why the vein is parallel to the blades instead of straight back behind the blades?! I know their is a science to all this but somewhere is a disconnect. So i figured i would at least ask. If its a stupid question i apologize im just not familiar and we dont have the same need for those where i live. Im just sucked in and definitely cool content
Man not stupid at all! So the vane moves, perpendicular for dumping mode, and parallel for off mode. When they want to fill a tank, you just flip a lever down by the ground and voila! Thank you for watching!!!!
The vane or tail can be cranked up to 90 degrees from its normal position such that wind blowing past the vane wil force the turbine or fan *out* of the wind so it won't spin (at least not fast). The whole process of forcing the fan disk out of the wind is sometimes called "furling", a term from sailing where you pack up your sails but don't remove them from the mast or boom, so they can be "unfurled" and put back into the wind quickly when needed. Another fun nautical term: the blades of a windmill are sometimes called "sails". Think old-timey Dutch windmills. I think that term is falling out of favor with time. The Aeromotor out at my dad's place has a combo furling mechanism with a band brake. There's a lever near the base of the tower that when you pull down all the way and latch it, it pulls a cable that goes up to the gearbox. This not only furls (pulls the vane into parallel with blades) the mill, but also applies a brake to further secure the blades from spinng.
@@OkieWindmiller ah ha well that makes sense. I appreciate the explanation. It's always nice to learn something new. I'm definitely going to keep watching to see what else I can pick up on
@@SansNeural WOW thanks for the detailed explanation! Like I was saying to Okie it's always nice to learn something new. I was hesitant to ask because I didn't want to sound stupid but I appreciate the time y'all took to break it down and help me understand. Thanks again.
Great 2 1/2 hours of education if I’d had this kind of education as a youngster I wouldn’t have been such a toe rag and as for quality it’s as good as the best for me you get to see everything warts an all , really enjoying the content no complaints
This is #4 for me, but I had to quit at 36 minutes - the quick camera movements were making me nauseous! I know you had no good option without Lori, but it might have been better on a tripod. I will come back later and try again.
Haha ok. Sorry! Yep, this is the first with the head camera mount. I need to rethink that thing. Quite a few have said the same thing. Thank you again for watching!
Liked it but disappointed at the end. Was hoping you would show it finished and wind pumping water. Maybe next time after a 2 and a half hour video, show the finished working product.
Sorry. Really. I was disappointed more than you know that I couldn’t show it working after beating myself for 7 hours working on it. There were problems with it that wouldn’t let it make water, but we are working on the next video of the repair that we completed Saturday. This also wasn’t intentional to make a second video, we had to wait to hear what the customer wanted us to do(bad pipe, pump replacement). I’m really sorry. Please don’t let this run you off, I’m trying. Thank you for taking the time to watch…….Sorry again.
It also never fails that when we’re done working, the wind stops. Same thing for Saturday, no wind, but I climbed it and spun it, to make it make water, because you are one of many that said the same thing. 😀
Well there was just too much risk with the bad rust, could be a hole at any moment. We put the plastic at the bottom so it will be what is in the water. 😀
Thanks for this. Pleased no more FFWD talking during time lapse. Please look at subtitles, see that text in the Selfie break? Maybe aim for that size on the regular video so we can read subtitles without having to pause and grab glasses! Consider "Link in Description" comments when you do super-sized efforts in a video. If it's stuff you have done similar in the past, just post the interesting, different stuff and refer watchers to a more thorough watch for the viewers that are looking for more. Oh look, more than 3 K Subscribers. Congratulations! Now I need a shower!
Really like the video,s.. but if it was me, i would have a 10 or 12 ft step ladder to change out dog , BE a lot safer than windmill ladder!!! Just me!!!
Howdy! Thank you for watching. Yeah Ive been using it for 20 years now. It’s comfortable and well made, but yes it’s old. I have another one that’s a full harness but it’s very cumbersome.
Your video has an interesting topic, which is different from the normal ream of others. But, your videography is lacking. Anytime you put the camera on your head, and you look in all directions quickly, it is going to make a bad video. Films or videos are designed to move slowly, not fast, to accommodate the viewer. Think about how Hollywood does it, and slow down, remove the camera from your head and put it on a tripod. Then the viewer can enjoy it. Thanks
Thank you! I found all that out after the fact. I wasn’t happy with it either. I will not be using it anymore, at least if I’m going to be working over my head. Please stick around, I will get better. We’re new to this. Thank In for watching and complimenting!
