Hello, I’m just a guy who likes to to watch different real life events. I love the way you explained your every move and most of all I love that you and your wife are an amazing team. Keep doing what you are doing and may God bless all and your family
I've worked on in ground wells before, never a windmill. This kind of knowledge is priceless. Puddin mentioned you and RU-vid sent you. Cool boom truck!
Thank you so much! We try! Sometimes it’s hard to smile when it’s hot and we’re dirty, but we always try to make it fun! Thank you for subscribing!!!!!
Well im hooked, (see what i did there😂) this is really awesome seeing how these work and how much work goes into them, the back and forth is funny, and helpful, it's good the be your own Boss, but we know who the real Supervisor is lol,
Haha yep you know it! I do what mama says! It’s great but terrifying being your own boss in a small field. Thank you for watching and thank you for subscribing!
Puddin brought me here as well. My family had a long history with windmills in west Texas before moving to Oklahoma. Look forward to viewing more of these
Like most of your comments, I also had Puddin recommend you guys Channel. I like these videos where you learn something. I live in north Caddo County and have worked for an Irrigation Dealer in the past. Our stuff was 6-8" tube and up to 360 foot to the pump stages. Powered by LP and Natural gas engines. Wells here flowed 250-600 gallons. Love these Windmills. They saved the day for country folks for sure.
Nice work I’ve been working on water wells and windmills for the last 20 years in the Oklahoma panhandle I hate jug cylinders cause you got to pull pipe and rod just to replace the leathers but interesting to see how other people do things and learn new ways thanks
Awesome! Glad to meet another one of us!!! Yep I hate them too, but don’t like the limitations sometimes of the 1-7/8 cylinder. Nobody wants bigger pipe than 2” around here. (Price)
You can go to college and still run a windmill company if you decide that's what you want to do. It's about choosing. Working outside, enjoying the fresh air, working with your hands. That scores high in a lot of people's books.
Aww thank you!!!! So glad yall like us. We’re trying to keep it where couples want to sit down and spend time watching what we do!!!!! Have a great day!
the pipe down by the pump is stretched. the threads have "necked". you are right to replace it, that things about to break right there and leave your pump down in the hole. the pipe is probably real thin on the inside.
Howdy! Thank you so much! We do take pride in what we do, as if it were on my own property. I like happy customers and not irritated ones. 😀 Thank you for watching and the wonderful compliment!!!!!!
"It's always extra if I do [find a snake]." Darn tootin'! I see a live snake all of a sudden and all the fun just runs away... just a few steps behind me!
Oh yes they have the nice tall ones!! It’s sad to see they have done that there, but in Oklahoma they’re making a comeback. We are getting a lot of old ones back to working because people are realizing how important having a water supply is!
Another puddin crossover!! Im in Connecticut but was born Ft Sill. Lawton. Oklahoma im sure you know the place. Dad started his 40 year military there .and my life !! Lol. Gret videos looking forward to watchin more!
That is a cross arm. The holes are for locust pins. A piece of wood made out of locust wood it was a cone on the bottom to wedge into the big holes I the arm. The top of the pin was threaded for the insulator to screw onto. 1900’s tech that is still working today. I took some down a few years ago that was almost perfect but the pole got drunk and jumped out in front of a car.
Ah yep! That explains it!!!! Some old wood on an old windmill! How cool, people used whatever they could get their hands on back then! Thank you for the info and for watching!!!!!
This was vastly better than the first video I watched! Sound, 100% better. Sure, it helped a lot to have Momma filming and passing tools. I prefer it if you keep then under an hour, but that's me. A wee rant on our host's comment, "Kids, go to College!" My opinion, maybe not. I went, and I kept on going through graduate school. I worked for mostly private clients, but many of my customers were governmental entities. Private or governmental, they mostly don't know a danged thing, today. If your goal in life is to be the richest person in the world, go for that, but you won't get that in college. Otherwise, you will be working for somebody and they will tell you to do exactly the wrong thing, the wrong way. By the time I would get hired, things were messed up so badly those customers would just shut up. I can't guarantee it, but just watch, Elon probably has Crew Dragon prepping to launch to go rescue the crew of Boeing's Starliner; I do not see how Boeing will be able to bring those people back. An option for younger people thinking about life is to go hold the camera for this guy. Do the sound, do the editing and apprentice in useful skills. Maybe just learning the camera, sound stuff is what you need. Our colleges are filled with crappy people, that will be hired by the previous generation's crappy people. Or maybe consider something like Mike Rowe Works. Only consider college if you already have a plan and you will not be allowing the people in our colleges to get in your way. Yeah, Elon will probably have to rescue the Boeing crew and Elon went to college, but go look for yourself. All of the "smartest" people insisted he needed to build with carbon fiber, or aluminum. His rockets work. Nobody else's do. Go find the interview where he explains why Falcon 9 and Starship are made with Stainless Steel, (his own alloy). Don't spend money going to college, when you can learn useful skills for free! Peace.
I totally agree 1000% with you!!! Every word you said. When I say that, it’s in a jokingly way and usually when I’m stressed and hot and dirty and possibly bleeding. Lol. It’s an inside joke around our house because we are all the “un-colleged except for the wife. She is an RN trade, but we love what we do and couldn’t think of anything we word rather be doing, especially when we’re leaving the job site happy with what we had just accomplished. Thank you soooo much for watching and thank you for letting me know about the production being better. We’re working our tails off rounding up equipment as we can afford it. Also have the wife a microphone now so she will be able to be heard getting on to me! 😄
Oh, as for the length, if I make them shorter, I get a lot of flak from viewers about not enough detail. Our typical job is 4-8 hours, and I condense them down as much as I can without losing the intent of the info being passed along.😃
This is the 2nd video I've watched. Your work is interesting because it's something many of us have never thought about. We see the windmills in the field but don't understand what makes them tick. Your narration was good on this one, and the conversation with Lori and her excellent camera work really make good viewing. I would like to hear you explain in more detail these points: what did you expect to find why this rig wasn't working? Why did you unscrew so many joints? Why are some segments so short? Am looking forward to catching up on other previous work!
Man thank you! I will do my best to be more descriptive here on! Thank you for the kind words and I will pass this on to Lori, she doesn’t think she does good, but we know better! Thank you for watching and subscribing!
Another example (if you don't mind): At 27:00 something happened (you didn't say what) that caused you to break open a pipe joint (which sprayed cold water on you). Then you moved several vice grips to different locations (you didn't say why) and you turned the pipe above (without explaining what you were looking at). So we (who don't know what is happening) are watching you fix something without knowing what you (or we) are looking for. The more you explain, the better the video! Thanks.
Man thank you! I will do much more explaining now on. This is exactly what I need to hear to get better!!!!! Thank you for watching! So I have a “7” shaped piece of sucker rod that is screwed into the rod that I’m removing. The “7” kept hanging up on the short tower, which wouldn’t let me unscrew it. 😀
Hey, can I give you an old man tip. Never jack the front of your truck tires off ground in the air. Cut some 2x12's and make staggered so you can drive up on them. I have seen so many guys damage their rigs doing this. Support the tires. I been around an at 72 seen a few things just trying to help. If you ever get up to Ohio lot of the Amish tool shops have square wrenches for square nuts and bolts you might want to get some of those here in Florida we don't do shallow Wells causes sinkholes
Man thank you! What does it damage? I need to tell all my well service friends with front jacks on our trucks, because we all do it…… It’s just something we haven’t been told yet. Thank you! I would love to head up to Amish county to see all they have! I’ve always wondered about Florida wells, figured water was shallow, but never thought about the sink holes!!!!! Crazy! Thank you for watching!!!!!! Let me know about the front end damage please!
I would charge the customer for clearing the brush...or better yet just leave and reschedule when it's done. Forget about it....P.S....Thanks not only for windmill tips, but the water table remarks. I have an open well I want to cap and add a small windmill to access the spring fed supply. ❤
Haha man I’m glad yall do too! That’s what we have always called it but Lori was like, maybe we shouldn’t say that on camera in fear of getting us kicked off or something😝. Thank you for commenting and watching!!!!!!
In Australia we have trouble where the pipe meets the pump with electrolysis Wrap duct tape around the pipe for a few feet up and top off pump Problem solved All so tap the pipe where the pump rod joiner is to see how thin the pipe is and use neoprene buckets instead of leather
Howdy way down there! Man thank you! We have heard of the neoprene but none of my local distributors carry them, so never tried them. Thank you for watching mate!
@@OkieWindmiller They have been hear for years a lot better than leather Probably used them in the space shuttle in a different form 🤣🤣Your water must be good nothing is corroded bad It’s heavy duty hear I’m using 2 inch heavy wall galvanised pipe in the water 2 years at the best Changed to submersible pumps and solar now with poly Stock water only tryed to get a water softener for the house in the drought The water tests said no it’s to hard All the best with it all🍻
What did i miss? Why was this pump not working? Do you service the the actual drive mechanism also when you maintain these? We had one when i was a kid long ago, i remember it fondly. Great video, the young lady does a nice job. Best regards from Indiana.
It was the sucker rod couplings that worn in two. That caused the no-water call. We also rebuilt the pump while we were in there! I normally do service the windmill if it’s a new one to me and don’t know the records, but this one had the oil changed by the customer 2 months ago, so we didn’t. Some people actually still climb these and do the oil changes themselves! Thank you for watching!!
NC will check it more on videos after while, thank Puddin he said you where great just don't act like Mortske drinking complaining sometimes gets people turning off Videos lol everybody has good bad days.
What happened was when they was cutting in pipe threads on their pipe machine. They put new dize on it. And the guys weren't set, right? And then they reset them and started threading. That's what happened.
Good question. Windmills make about 2 gallons per minute. Most won’t keep up with the usage from the stock tank, so people let the overflow to a pond or creek.
Haha we do! Is hourly, but still something! Takes about 15 min, but we do charge for that, especially if they are able bodied and tell me it’s ready to be worked on. Thank you for watching!!!!
