Damn I'll have to consider this battery for the future.

Great video! One major issue I encountered was my 12V output will randomly shut off when I had their F1000 DC-DC charger plugged in. So I had to manually turn the F1000 off to keep my fridge running. I was told by etaker it was a bug in the M2000 BMS. They will fix it via a firmware update, which requires using their APP. My other small issue is the charger heat up too easily. The fan was running constantly and it would derate itself to 300-400W despite I had it set to 500. The fan on my Victron DC converter (420W) only kicks on for 1 min every so often and it never needed to derate the output. Nevertheless, I still like the Etaker making features specific for overlanding. Most other brands just don’t get what we want

I ran mine mostly on 300w, so perhaps that’s why I didn’t encounter this. The majority of the time I was hitching onto the dedicated battery system so I just let it do its thing. I did notice it running constantly but it wasn’t in the best place for airflow so I thought that was just my fault. I would very much like to see this app soon. Not having to stop to make sure something is charging would be a big benefit for long drives.

I wish that today’s overland video creators would take notice of how you (Independence Overland) review products. So many of the channels that I follow have changed from creators to influencers, and the content is based on product advertisement of the massive amount of gear hanging off their rigs. I know that when you do a review video, it is honest and sincere.
@IndependenceOverland
@IndependenceOverland Месяц назад
I appreciate it man! I get where they are coming from, it is fun to work with various manufacturers and of course in exchange we need to talk about their gear. But I do my best not to be too in everyone’s face about products and ads, and I also believe in telling the truth. Most respectable companies are happy to have a bit of criticism too, because if they think their products are perfect then they are delusional.
@insaynbcr
@insaynbcr Месяц назад
@@IndependenceOverland Not only would the manufactures be delusional if they didn't take some criticism, but they also wouldn't take their products and make improvements and/or take the lead in advancing the technology further. This sparks new and creative solutions that they other brands can get ideas from and continue to leap frog off each other. The winners are the end users (us).

I just installed the ecoflow delta 2 max + alternator charger on my 97 4Runner. As someone who doesn’t know how to install electrical systems and didn’t want to pay the cost of a quality dual battery system + install, this kind of an option has been awesome. Super easy to install, works flawlessly out of the box, convenient and easily removed from the vehicle when not in use.

I just picked up my first fridge and powerstation setup. I went budget but will see how they perform and last. Vevor dual zone fridge and a bluetti PS72. A little underwhelming on specs but the price was right. I'm right at $500 for both the fridge and power station. Will review the system soon for those interested in a low cost setup. For daytrips, weekend trips and general travel/portable power around home, I think it will perform well. It is tough to justify big spends on fridges and portable power with 2 weeks paid vacation and typically one or two back country trips per year. I know I'm in a similar boat as many enthusiasts.

'Seems like with this setup you wouldn't need a fancy 12V system, you could just use this.

All DC to DC Charger should have a remote shut off capability and an app. So for me, the Ecoflow's Alternator charger is miles ahead, especially since it will reverse and start your vehicle should it die. But I do really like the form factor and size and like you , I would prefer the input to be in the back. A few things I trust will address in future revisions.
@IndependenceOverland
@IndependenceOverland Месяц назад

Plus for all the prepers out there it’s EMP protected internally.

500 watts at 12 volts is approx 41 amps, your alternator will support this even if your using all your other equipment as most alternators are over 90 amps.
@IndependenceOverland
@IndependenceOverland Месяц назад
The alternators can put out that many amps, but the ECU (which can use a surprising amount), lights, stereo, plus charging the battery back up takes a ton of that power. Stock Fj alternator is a 100 amp, I replaced mine with the Tacomas tow package 130 amp. If I ran both DC-DC systems at the same time it would cook the alternator pretty fast. I work on heavy duty trucks and I have seen a lot of alternators get over worked and die pretty early in their service.

I love how they ripped off the old Mac Pro design. Great review! Looking forward to seeing how the trail hunter turns out.

It looks as though the "Smart Life" app will allow some control and firmware updates. Possibly alarms and such as well. This may be a new development, and was wondering if you were awarw of it. Also, if you are aware, what all can that app do/monitor with the etaker?
@IndependenceOverland

I didnt realize an app for these was out yet. I will jump on it!

But the usual problem arises, you have your solar plugged in or the dc feed, not at the same time
@IndependenceOverland
@IndependenceOverland Месяц назад
No that’s what I was talking about with the solar stuff, or maybe I didn’t convey that point well enough. The DC-DC charger has a solar input. So 1 input from your battery, another input for solar, and then that goes to the DC input on the battery. So that’s how you can get up to 1000w input.
@OverlandingPhotographer
@OverlandingPhotographer Месяц назад
@@IndependenceOverland ahhh, I see. So solar goes into the DC-DC unit when you're using it? That's a good workaround I suppose. Two inputs would obviously be better if you communicate with them.
@IndependenceOverland
@IndependenceOverland Месяц назад
@@OverlandingPhotographer Yes sir, plugs right into its own port. And then that battery DC port is taken up by it and handles everything.
@DuaneForrester
@DuaneForrester Месяц назад
You spoke about wanting a 30 amp port to run to a fuse panel for other things. Could one of the 3 prong receptacles be used for this? Do you know the amp rating on those plugs?
@IndependenceOverland
@IndependenceOverland Месяц назад
You could technically rig up a 110v to 12v inverter, but doing it that way isn’t efficient. You’re already converting 12v up, so converting back down would rob some energy.

Looks like they waited for you to release the video and changed the pricing. No coupons that I see on Amazon and the battery only is $1,500. The DC/DC charger only is $220. The battery + DC/DC charger combo is $1,850; which makes no sense. Less expensive to buy each unit separately. Did they give you any information on the current output of the DC/DC at each wattage mode? Trying to see if this will work with the Anker 767 which requires 11-32V max 10A or 32-60V max 20A. Also, any chance you can confirm the weight of the battery unit? States 6 lbs on Amazon, but that seems amazingly light. Thanks!
@IndependenceOverland
@IndependenceOverland Месяц назад
This battery has been around for a good 6 months apparently, I thought it was brand new but I just found some other content on it that’s older. So I think maybe there just happened to be a sale when I was looking into everything. It’s actually around 35 pounds I believe. I wish it was 6! Haha. On the DC-DC system it’s a 42v 25 amp

This baby will be absolete when Ecoflow's gen3 will release. Also, this company doesn't even have a website, google shopping can't find it, and their kickstarter page has these glorious negative reviews. Looks like a scam to me.
@IndependenceOverland
@IndependenceOverland 2 дня назад
Its not a scam, if you read through the Kickstarter stuff the people who were complaining came back and said their batteries show up. Plenty of good reviews on amazon. Also, I too have challenges finding their website but I have been on it before. But their SEO is terrible and google can never find it. I think I had originally been on their website from a direct link I found on another video. I do agree they need to address that.
