Due to the wasted and cluttered space under my 7' X 48" assembly table, I decided to turn half of it into an air filtration system. Using a furnace blower motor and 6 merv 13 18X20X1 filters, I transformed one side into a dust sucking machine. I listed the filters I used below. I also have build videos for the assembly table and the old air filtration system on my channel. I hope you enjoy the video and if you do please hit that thumbs up button and I would be thrilled if you would also hit that subscribe button. By doing so it helps the channel grow. Also feel free to leave any comments or questions.
Filters. Aerostar 18x20x1 MERV 13 Pleated Air Filter, AC Furnace Air Filter, 6-Pack (Actual Size: 17 3/4" x 19 3/4" x 3/4")

This was one of the better thought-out designs for sure. Also, being near the floor is grabbing dust where it will naturally settle anyway.

Thank you. I am thinking about doing an update video on this system. I got an air quality monitor and it is unreal how well this air filtration system does

@@hammerdownwoodworkingtracy3679 BTW, the main reason I mentioned where the dust goes is because so many try to do this from the ceiling. While it is filtering the same CFM of air it's also holding the dust in suspension longer. The bottom line is fumes and heat rise but dust settles. The best of both worlds would be a ceiling discharge for the fan in a dusty situation. This is basically how a paint booth is set up. Suction near the floor so the dust can't settle again (on the finished product) and fresh air at the top.

Thank you sir for this idea … I’ve got a shop with milling machine , lathe, table saws , 2x 72 grinders ,, all the above and I have a terrible dust problem … I just got out of the hospital with double pneumonia and I think my shop dust contributed to the problem…. If not ,, well, it sure didn’t help my issue! … I plan to build something similar from watching your video .. thank you for sharing ,.. I went ahead and subscribed to your channel as well, .., thanks again for the idea !

This is a great idea! I've got a small 28" square work table that will become my dust collector!! Thanks again for the idea!

Nicely done. I did this about 3 years ago in my garage /shop. Use a 20" 3 bladed shop fan because that's what I had at the time. My filter system is built into a 32"x32x32 wheeled base the supports my planer and 6" jointer on top. Uses 3 -24x24x1 MERV 12 filters. I use a remote which I keep attached to my apron to switch the fan on and off when needed. Same results as you describe- Air quality greatly improved!

Thanks Richard. Great hearing your is working good. I was shocked at how well it works. Wish I had done it years ago

I am wanting to build a Mobile Air Cleaner Cart with my shop vac and a dust stopper in the plenum area. Will that kill the performance of the air purifier/dust collector? Cart will be used also for my bench top ridged sander and a bench grinder. I have a furnace blower/squirl cage fan....Thanks. Shalom

To be honest I wouldn't know how that will out. You can try it and see. Most projects like this is an experiment anyway. Sorry I i don't have a better answer for you. Just give it a try is about all you can do

Well, the question is a bit unconventional. I got a small shop as you can see on my channel and I need to save all the space I can. My shop is a 10' x 16' portable building or garden shed. Thanks for responding. Shalom@@hammerdownwoodworkingtracy3679

I can say one thing... shop vacs are not meant for continuous duty... and they are also noisy. Fans and blowers are built to run for hours or days at a time.
