Lately I've been putting some time in at the local river, trying to find my first Bass since winter had ended. I finally had some luck with a very healthy specimen in this video! Enjoy :)

Cheers Larry! The mozzies aren't out in full force just yet, I'm guessing once they are the fishing should be better again. I'm guessing it's probably similar for Cod and Yellas up your way as well

You should be sweet on 8lb would be pretty lucky to catch a bass over 3kg I reckon 👍 It feels sketchy lifting them and it's the hard flopping around that will snap line... If they don't play up but it's sweet I lift 40s on 6lb Man they are healthy bass down there, they fight like bass in a lake with some nice runs 👍 Well done getting back on the bass board

I hope so mate! Although I am probably going to branch out a bit more this summer, so many Bass the last couple years lol

How far up have the bass got in the river mate ? Used to get heaps in Werribee Can’t pull myself to drive all the way down from northern vic tho These days haha

Hey mate, you'll find them all the way up to Melton reservoir - although lately there's been a lot more Cod caught there. A good option for this time of year since it's still a place you can chase Cod during the closed season since it's south of the GDR!

@@jordythebassist insane how good they have stocked it now ! I lived in the area for 25 years and I was only a carp and reddie hole. Was good for eps around there around Covid time also! Would be weird seeing cod in there

@timwalsh2983 unfortunately the EPs just aren't there anymore, they seemed to have been washed out with the floods last year unfortunately. I got absolutely smoked by a big Cod at Melton a couple months ago when testing out my kayak when I got it, there's some good sized Cod in there now. I know one was caught a little while ago there that went just over 80cm!

@@jordythebassist yeah it’s a shame , reckon they must of got pushed out to sea maybe . I remember when they were first stocked and I stayed catching bass and no one believed me haha . Oh nice ,that’s so good. Was that in the res or river ? All the rivers up my way are still dirty . I might need to venture south haha

@@timwalsh2983 that was at the res mate, the water in both the res and river here are as clear as I've seen it in a very long time!
