The #1 coaster experience of my life will likely end up being the time I was set to board the front row of The Beast when they shut it down for the drone show. That 30 minute wait seemed to allow nature to reset out in the woods. What a ride. Wore some bugs, ate some bugs. Priceless 😅
Kings Island is truly the goat of parks and I am so lucky to have it 5 mins away from my home. I also love working there and its a fun experience overall

Two of my favorite rides ever were October night rides of Beast and Mystic timbers. Fog rolls in through the trees, and it just adds another insane dimension to a night ride!
I was about to come here to say the same thing. During Haunt, the sun sets so much earlier, so it can get _really_ dark back there. I've ridden it with the mist coming through the trees and an almost-full moon, and the experience was just amazing.
Back when Six Flags had Geauga Lake, we had an amazing night ride through the fog on the Villain during October. That coaster was so much fun. I wish someone would take the blueprint and build another…
Man, I do not get the Orion hate. I far preferred it to Diamondback in late '23. As for The Beast, that same trip, the ride was kind of broken, so I'm holding my opinion until I can get back. You and ETR have both been super positive about it since the retrack. Mystic timbers? I think I've got too many laps on the voyage to appreciate it for how excellent it is. And I'm sure that's part of why I like Orion the way I do. Magic seat for Orion. Back row, side furthest from load gate. Voyage is the only ride I've felt more convinced was actively trying to remove me. Past all that, huge shout to KI for both ops, and ride maintenance. Really exciting to see them spend the money on The Beast like they do, and maintain it. Really keeps woodies special.
I got to ride the beast for the first time about a month before you guys went. Night rides are insane. The 2nd night, we got stuck on the 2nd lift hill at about 11:30 at night
@julianponce1854 I doubt it. We were there for a while, and it had problems previously trying g to start after the fireworks. And it took a while for them to release the lap bars for the train in front of us before taking our train into the station. We also got stuck at the bottom as soon as the train engaged with the chain lift. It didn't move at all. Not like if it was a delay where you stop half way up the lift/at the top.
@@julianponce1854I think there’s two block zones between the 2nd lift hill and the station no? Unless there were 2 trains between the 2nd lift and station I don’t think that would stop the 2nd lift hill.
I lived in Lebanon for the first 25 years of my life. I somehow didn’t ride beast at night until last year at haunt. That ride was insane since it was a full moon so it felt like there was a spotlight going through the tunnels so it felt like it was going even faster.
Kings Island might be my favorite park to visit because their line-up is super re-rideable, their ops are great and their uptime is great. Also their fast pass lines destroy all others. Always a great day at Kings Island.
I purposely didn’t watch ANY pov ever on the beast. And this year was my first trip to the park and I got a night ride not knowing what to expect. It’s not my number one coaster, but that first beast night ride going on not knowing what’s coming was surreal. It was my favorite single ride in my 34 years of coasting.
@@shawnokeefe1580also a local and agree with you. It's a bit repetitive. The best part is that most of the rides are high capacity and the park is not very busy even in the summer. I went Thursday, last day it was open during the week and the park was empty.
Watching Amy get that 2nd credit on my home park kiddie coaster is wild. I remember being deathly afraid of that ride and have the picture to show it, haha
As always can't thank you enough for all the kind words about our home park! The beast night ride is like skyline chili around here. Something you must experience while visiting. I'll never forget my first night ride in 81'. Only buzz bars and I was just 48in tall. Scared the pants off me flying thru the woods in the pitch black.
Awesome, got to do the night ride on the Beast as well last year when I visited the USA and it was a phenomenal and surprising scary ride. Great ops and friendly staff, best theme park day of the trip. Greetings from the Netherlands.
I was there back in June and it was 950-10. The beast in the back was alright. I had a newbie with me and it was his first time and he didn’t like it. Said it hurt. But I like the roughness of the beast. Orion blew me away. I watched it be built on live cam and I sat on that breakrun and I cried my eyes out. It was everything I hoped it wud be. Took me 4 yrs to get here to get to ride it for my first time. Mystic just slapped the crap out of me. 💋 🤌🏼Diamondback was phenomenal as always. I literally cry every time I watch kings island videos cuz I miss it soooooo bad. Single mom. Don’t get to go very often. We went on Tuesday and a Wednesday. Walk on everything. It was three train ops for everything that has 3 trains. And did Amy love Pumpkin coaster????? Girls are growing up so fast. I have two girls too. 15 months apart 😬
Glad you got to experience it. It's running decently but its already a bit rougher than just after the big retrack. They may need to get Gravity Group back to put precut pieces on the parts that got a regular retrack before (and the parts that got no retrack). I've heard a lot of people complain after riding in a wheel seat. Also, this is the first year where I noticed some rattling on Mystic Timbers. It may be do for a retrack as we get close to the 10 year mark.

First coaster i ever rode at age 10 in 1990. Still my favorite. That gradual buildup of speed after second lift hill when it's chugging like a freaking freight train will never be topped.
I’m glad you finally got that night ride. And, Sophie’s new number 1. Kings Island must be the best park for night rides. Beast, Mystic, Orion, and Diamondback are top. But, you can’t discount The Bat and Adventure Express at night. And it seems that Amy had the best time of all in your family. Hopefully, she got a train ride in. 👍🏻
I visited Kings Island for my first time and I adored it. It’s right there with Cedar Point as far as I’m concerned and the coaster collection is not too far off from Cedar Point either. My friends and I were shocked by how much we loved Beast. We were there for 2 days and got 2 night rides and it was our favorite coaster at the park. I loved the other coasters as well but Beast truly felt like nothing I’ve experienced before. Also something I noticed about Diamondback, I felt the rattle more on the outer seats than the inner seats (still my 2nd favorite coaster in the park tho, amazing airtime).
I have been to Kings Island 2 separate times, and have never done Soak City. The dry side is just that good. I did a night ride on Orion, and it was dope.
Yeah, the part at 17:51 is very noticeable, I can hear Call Me Maybe playing in the park, Kings Island's great at playing great music and songs inside the park. And imagine hearing Carly Rae Jepsen's songs at Kings Island, that's a nice touch, but it'd also be more fitting at Canada's Wonderland, since Carly is Canadian after all.
I would love to check this place out one day! The rides look amazing and when I eventually go (whenever that is), I'll definitely need to get a Beast night ride!

The Beast is the BEST coaster on the planet! I fell in love with it back in the early 80's and it has never disappointed me. The night ride is by far the best EVER! I have been to many theme parks and apart from Disney, Kings Island is the best in my opinion.
I had the opportunity to do this two years ago. It was AMAZING! I'm hopeful I can do this again sometime in the next couple of years. I miss King's Island!
The fact that The Beast is barely mid during the daylight and is EPIC at night in the dark is crazy. I cant think if any other coasters that transforms the experience as much as The Beast does. Its almost as if its 2 completely different rides...
I went to KI last Wednesday. Lines were short, park was clean, ops were incredible, maintenance made quick work of problems if there were any issues. And of course, the lineup is stacked. I got 19 rides on 10 coasters, and I would’ve gotten more had my head not been aching like crazy. Easily the best park I’ve been to.
Beast night ride is one of my favorite coaster experiences EVER. For me, the top 3 at KI are Diamondback, Mystic Timbers, and Beast in no particular order... and the rest really aren't close. Sophie's reaction to both Orion and Banshee basically matched mine.
18:59 melts my heart. And my sister in law is the biggest snoopy/ peanuts fan in the world (I think) and the Snoopy towns are my best chance to get her to come to a park with me. Your family is beautiful man. I enjoy your content a ton, but still waiting for that invite to the skyrush party 👀
Orion has definitely grown on me and I really enjoy it but it’s still the reason why the park needs to go really big on the Vortex replacement if that makes sense.
Diamondback is my favorite coaster at Kings Island, the recipient of my marathon earlier this year (6 back to back rides) my son got his first credit on Great Pumpkin coaster this year (he clutched me so tightly, he was so scared) 😊 Chris, I feel like I’d have a good time jamming coasters with ya at Kings Island!
I live in the Columbus area, and I've been to Cedar Point and Kings many times, plus about 8 other parks throughout the US! Kings Island is by far my favorite park as well as my home park! I really hope that the Six Flags merger doesn't harm my favorite park that I've gone to every season since 1975 and had a season pass for 20 years!!🙏
I was just at Kings Island for the first time Sunday and Monday last week. If you recognize my handle from other videos you know I'm a Hersheypark guy. But I gotta say KI is the best park I've ever been to. (And we were at Cedar Point before KI). The layout of the park is perfect. You can just go in a circle and get on everything. The ride ops are fast as hell and they run 3 trains on everything it seems. Some notes from my visit after watching your video... My KI Top 5 is 1.) Mystic Timbers (Barely) 2.) Beast (loved this ride so much) 3.) Diamondback 4.) Orion 5.) Banshee My 100th credit was Invertigo. I rode it back row after professional disc golfer Kyle Klein. DG is my sport. Him and his girlfriend just finished a tournament in Kentucky the day before. Can I be considered an enthusiast now that I've hit triple digits? I only started keeping track cuz of your channel btw. My were sitting on Snoopy Soapbox when it broke down and they told us to get off (got on it 2nd day) Why does a new ride break down so much? Park closed at 8 each night so no night ride for me on Beast. Jealous of you on that one. I thought that mine train was unhinged and sneaky good.
Cedar Point did overtake Kings Island for me this year. But make no mistake, KI is elite! You got your Beast night ride! Got mine back in 2021! I would have gotten another this year but it stormed that night so I had to bail early. Mystic Timbers my beloved! What’s your favorite ending?! Mine is the Monster House esque end. I had a much better time at Cedar Point than King’s Island on my only visit but Cedar Point I had fast lane and the on-site hotel, while at King’s Island I went on a day with multiple school trips, no fast lane, and on top of that they didn’t even open Orion which jammed the park even more, so it was kind of a best case / worst case scenario.
Growing up with great memories of the lake, the nostalgia in me wants to say Cedar Point is my favorite park in the country, but I have to be honest and admit that I think I have more fun on our trips to Kings Island. Both Diamondback and Banshee have seemed rattly this year but my best ride on any coaster at any park this season was a mid-afternoon ride on Diamondback. Also, while Orion typically leaves me wanting to like it more, we did have an incredible ride on it on a hot day early August Row 3, best Orion ride I've ever had. Don't know why, but there was a TON of airtime on a ride where we don't usually get it.

I used to live in Cincy so I went to KI many, many times, even had my first ever job there. Got back there a couple years ago and was just like you blown away at how well run it was. Best park? Maybe. My bias from having grown up there is probably real. It's for sure up there.
I went to KI for my first time earlier this year, and only got one ride on the beast, but it was in the pouring rain in one of the far back rows. Honestly one of the craziest experiences I have had on a coaster! Unfortunately, I didn't get a Beast Night Ride because the park closed early due to inclement weather. But I absolutely loved my time there. Diamondback on Top!
5:56 I noticed that man! I went to KI and CP earlier this month and Diamondback and banshee were incredibly rattly on all of the valleys between elements
I think KI might be the best park in the country for coaster quality and operations taken together (there are a couple others that come close) but I actually agree with Sophie, assuming she means BGW. You just can't beat the atmosphere there, specifically the sheer beauty of the grounds, and the ride offerings are good enough to make it my favorite park in the country.
Absolutely love Sophie having the coaster enthusiast opinion about Orion lol. I always try and describe it to people in a way where I don't say it sucks, but you can tell it disappoints me. Kinda a shame their Giga is just fine.
I've only been to K.I. once in early June 2023 and to be honest: I only found Diamondback to have a rattle at the bottom of the 1st drop, and In was 53 years old then! It IS the best ride in the park. The Beast is worth the night ride in row 17; I did that too, as I did with Orion on another night and Diamondback on my other two nights. Diamondback in the back car is my 3rd favourite coaster I've ridden after Fury 325 and Steel Vengeance, (although I admit I've never yet ridden Velocicaster, The Voyage or Voltron). Mystic Timers is only good because it's the smoothest GCI, but not the best: the best two GCIs are in China, and Goldstriker might have something to say too, even if it's not as smooth as Mystic Timbers. My 2nd favourite ride at K.I. is Orion in the back car, 3rd is Banshee in the back right; 4th is Mystic Timbers in the back seat/row/car (all the same) and my 5th is The Beast in row 17. BTW I find it adorable that Amy loves Snoopy so much when Snoopy is always so much bigger than her, yet she insists on calling Snoopy "puppy!" That is the cutest thing! Got a night ride on beast last week for first time. Got in line around 9, they said they’d close ride at 935 for the drone show and as long as you were in line by 10 you’d get a ride after show ended. I wanted 2 night rides on the beast but also wanted a night ride on mystic Timbers. The line was a bit long so I was SWEATING the clock the whole wait. Ended up the last train before it shut down. Sprinted to Timbers and got a night ride on that and then got back in line for beast like 2 minutes to 10 so got my second ride. No lie, I think Beast might be top 3 for me. With 100% sincerity I will tell you I have it ranked above el toro and Steel Vengence. Only ride I can say for sure I have above it is Maverick. Maybe Twisted Timbers too idk. It doesn’t have the craziest forces and it’s rough but man I don’t know if any other rollercoaster delivers that amount of pure fun. It’s also just so unique in its layout and the night rides deliver an experience you just can’t get anywhere else. That second drop and the helix that follows might be the greatest rollercoaster element ever imagined. Especially at night.
Went to Hershey park today for the 2nd time and rode candymonium for the first time. 2nd hyper coaster I’ve been on. Ended up riding it 3 time back row in a row. Love the content btw!
I had my first Kings Island visit last year, and also got stuck in line for Beast while the fireworks happened, and I was also at a spot where I couldn't see them. But it was totally worth it for Night Beast.
Underrated night ride: Banshee. Went there 4th of July one year and got fireworks straight ahead while going up the hill. Then the rest of the ride at night was great definitely give that a try
Kings Island is getting busier. As far as I know, they are really trying to boost attendance and the attendance has skyrocketed, especially the 2024 season. Last year, there were a lot of empty days, especially on weekdays and rainy days. This year, though, even on every weekday and rainy days, it has been packed. Lines are around 1 to 1.5 hours on weekends, and on weekdays 30-1 hour depending on operations. PS: Operations have gotten a lot worse this year. DB and Orion has been running 2 trains for a while, and they are still stacking! Also, you were lucky to have such a short line for the beast night ride. KI is my home park so I know all of this, and, even on 10-20 minute wait days, it usually has around a 30-45 minute wait for the night ride.
My best friend and I live near Carowinds now but I grew up in Cincinnati and went to KI all the time. I got to take him last month for his first visit and he loved it. When I saw you tracking the weather, I thought to myself, "I wonder if we were there on the same day cause that storm looks familiar." We were. 🤦 Wish we could have ran into you. We went all day Monday and bought fast passes right before the closures but stayed til close and came back Tuesday so we got all the rides we wanted, except for Invertigo (I have the credit from when it was Face Off, so just my friend missed out on that one). He did not care for the Beast and loved Orion, by the way lol but glad to see you got your night ride. We both agreed Diamondback is the best ride in the park.
After visiting both CP and KI, and staying at CP for 3 days, I still think KI is better. SteVe and Maverick are really really good, but KI just has the better lineup overall imo plus a much easier park to navigate (CP is huge). Glad you finally got to ride Beast at night! My quick opinion on the coasters: 1. Orion - I actually really like this one. Wish it were a little longer and the first hill did something, but the airtime is awesome and the helix mixes up the forces like Goliath does. Could be better than Fury if the problems were fixed. (11/163) 2. Diamondback - Solid hyper, need to ride in the very back though. (15/163) 3. Banshee - Excellent invert, very forceful with a great ending. #2 behind Montu. (28/163) 4. Beast - Somewhat bumpy, but overall bearable. No airtime, but tons of crazy speed and a really long ride. Night ride is awesome. #2 woodie behind Voyage. (29/163) 5. Mystic Timbers - Great forces, love GCI. Haven't ridden at night yet. (33/163) 6. Flight of Fear - Great launch and inversions, but it hits a heavy brake in the middle and shakes the whole way through. Fix these 2 problems and I'd like it much more. (70/163) 7. Racer - Smooth with decent airtime. Racing aspect makes it better though. Lapbar does staple if you don't hold it up. Best PTC so far. (74/163) 8. Invertigo - Fun drops and forces, just wish the headbanging didn't exist. Best boomerang-type coaster so far. (76/163) 9. Backlot Stunt Coaster - Good ride with good mix of forces, like a launch, intense spiral, and a little airtime too. Add a bit of theming and a dark section and it's a solid coaster. (78/163) 10. Bat - Fast-paced and fun, I just need to ride it more than once. Next time I'll try a night ride. (92/163) 11. Adventure Express - Best Arrow mine train so far, smoother and faster than most. Ending is disappointing, but also kind of funny. (115/163) 12. Woodstock Express - Fun little woodie with some good airtime on the first drop in the back. Not too rough either. (137/163) 13. Flying Air Ace something or other - Yeah this one sucks. I've ridden the smooth version (Swamp Thing at Wild Adventures) and it's not that bad. This one, however, is janky. (156/163)
Kings Island really is the best park. It’s my home park and I’ve been going there since I was very young. They really do have great operations, but Banshee is just a people eater. I’ve marathoned it with nothing longer than a ten minute wait. But all their rides are great. Even Orion. It may or may not be in Kings Island’s top rides, depending who you ask. But it’s still fun.
