Glad to see another person talking about this great brand. I have owned the Protek titanium field watch 3000 series (blue dial) with T100 for the past few months and love it. Some may be turned off by a quartz movement, but based on the watch's intended mission this makes sense. Great for use in the theater too! Thanks again for going outside the box.

Quartz can be good. My Casio GWG-1000 is quartz. I have two mechanical watches also and mechanical is my thing. The Casio is a good watch and so it should be for the price.

Mate, I've mentioned many times the Nite Alpha 300 but I get the impression you may...... Anyway, 300m water resist on a screw down crown, 316 ss and sapphire on a bracelet. And, oh yes, a Swiss quartz movement with a 10 year battery life, all for less than the price of the Protec. Am I missing something?

I misread title and got excited for a Casio *Protrek* PRW3000 series review. That is an amazing piece of all-conditions timekeeping equipment! Protek seems oddly similar to Protrek.

Santa brought me the 3001 six months ago. Ive a small collection of watches but this has been my daily wear since. Nice simple dial with no distracting numbers or date windows. Best lime ever, you can read at a glance at night half asleep. Bright red lume at the 12, secs, minute, hour, 3, 6, and 9 in green. Other indices in blue. Thanks Santa.

I used to own a Tactical watch is that is PVD coated, which I believe should be somewhat similar to this IP coated case. The downside is when the case is scratched, the silvery mark on the case would be an eye sore 😓 The only dark case that I would recommend is DLC coated, that is way more durable and resistant to scratches, but also more expensive to produce.

Thanks for this video Jody, what a novel thing to have on a watch. Infinite lume. I like and now understand why you have such a interest in lume and have done so on your own design, the Erebus Origin. I think the 20 minutes of lume on the Origin is exceptional (I have pre-ordered one btw), but hey if you are going to include a mixture of tritium and nova-superbrite on it aswell as the project becomes sufficiently backed ill tell you now, Im not going to complain!! lol. :)

I was able to get Green Dial version at just under $400 during a sale. I really enjoy it though admittedly for some of the reasons Jodi mentioned, it's more something I wear once a month than an everyday watch. It is a lot of fun though with all the pops of color.

Hi Jody. Have you ever heard about brand Prim? It is old revived Czechoslovak brand. They were kind of a legend around here, they made in house movements, they were sturdy, reliable, cheap. Revival gave up on inhouse movements, but quality still looks nice. They also have tritium watch (Prim Sport Tritium 2023), it is actually GMT, using Seiko NH34. Whole package is around 700 EUR. You might want to give that a try.

As a first responder (medical) I have also been looking for a tritium lume watch. If seiko did one of the Seiko 5 field watches with tritium then that would be my grail or the Seiko land turtle with the 200m water resist, automatic movement, and a day date (as we work 24 hr shifts) and then Tritium. Ill sell my left nut for one. But $500 for a Tacticool watch that has cool glow sticks is taking the piss.

For a first responder, check out a Timex with Indiglo and Night Mode. When you turn on the night mode, any button press will activate the light/Indigo for 3 seconds. If you the main thing you need in the dark is just the time, you can look at the G Shocks that activate the light when you hold your watch up to look at it. I use my Timex Ironman at work (sometimes in the dark/various shifts).
@simplefieldcraft
@simplefieldcraft 8 месяцев назад
@@Gary-ib8dz the problem I see with that is those lights require power from the battery. plus the use of your other hand to activate. If I have to time a radial pulse I need my other hand to feel it and for a light to only stay on for 3 seconds is not good as I count the pulse rate over 15 seconds. So that is why the tritium is better suited it doesn't dim over time and requires no other source of power to illuminate the tubes other than the radioactive decay.

Great looking watch. I like the utilitarian look. The leather is there to appeal to broader audience and anyone into watches won't have a problem throwing a nato from their watch drawer on it. I’ve got a Full Gear chronograph that is decent. The finish is kind of basic though. I did pre-order their Orca diver: 40mm, automatic, MOP dial, 48mm lug to lug. Seems to tick most of the boxes I would want. Granted it ran me 360 bucks, so not the cheapest, but not the most expensive.

Unless you luck out, you should have this long enough to notice the tritium fade! I have had my Luminox for maybe 15 years & it is noticeably paler than when new. In fact I use it on the bed side table & when I turn the light out I can't read it for about 15 minutes until my eyes adjust. Then it gives me the time all night but doesn't keep me awake. It goes in the sea on occasion, 200m WR, rubber strap, dive bezel & date. I do like the un-coated versions of this ProTek though. Well done ferreting it out after a few tries. I'd love to see you test the strap ($60 for a new one). Their ProTek Dive Series 2003 actually comes on the leather strap. I think it's the first 200m dive watch i have ever seen sold on a leather strap!

Huh I just had my black Yelang V1019 with a very nice black leather strap delivered for $280 AUD. Its exactly the level of tritium lume I need and the rotating bezel is nice and firm and aligned. The ProTek looks like it would be just a little too bright for checking the time early in the morning - it would keep me awake, but would be good for outdoor night time use. They ldo look good, the divers that is.

I lament the discontinuation of the NITE Icon series. I've got one, and it's one of my most-worn watches of any type. the T-100 tritium is fantastic, 10 year battery life is outstanding, second hand hits all the markers bang on, and the dimensions make it wearable in pretty much any circumstance. All of which is just me echoing your assessment that NITE makes a fine tritium watch.

Looks great dial/hand design in daylight but the hour mark tubes to my eye look to overwhelm the hands after dark. I would be happy for the tiny second hand tube to be used for the hour markers. If the Tritium is driving up the cost significantly I would be happy with the tiny tubes at 12/3/6/9

The best Tritium ones that I own are Ball, Deep Blue and Luminox.No such thing as a T-100 tube. The "T" rating is a maximum output for the entire watch. A T-25 is an assurance to a regulatory agency that the total output is under 25 mCi. "T-100" which is properly marked simply as "T" indicates a total output less than 100 mCi.

I may treat myself to a khs reaper if I keep working night sets, purely owing to the red tritium option... so sith

At this price point I'd be more inclined to go for a Luminox. I have large wrists, and the Luminox original navy diver can be had for $399. Resin case so lightweight, 44 mm, 22mm lugs, 200m water resistance, and Swiss build. I also quite like the divers bezels, but that's me!
@jakemensik2842
@jakemensik2842 7 месяцев назад
The Navy SEAL is the only Luminox worth it. The rest aside from maybe the F-117 are overpriced and terrible quality. Luminox used to be the best of the best next to Marathon, but have lost their way the last 5-7 years. I've had my Navy SEAL for around 3 years now, and it's had at least 1,000 rounds put through it, worked in rain, and survived cutting car doors open and being put through fire once or twice. My Marathon has been put through far worse with not even a scratch. If you're going for Luminox, get the SEAL. It was their only watch built for the military, the rest of their watches just use that history as a selling point.

Nice watch but not for that asking price. I'm a person that looks at the indices, and yes it drives me crazy when the second hand doesn't hit all of the markers. LoL. The big selling point of this watch in my opinion is most likely the tritium. Nice watch but not at that price. Thanks for the great review as always.

I love tritium on a dial- I have 3 Luminox and 2 Deep Blue, I wear one of the Luminox every night. I'm tempted more and more by field watches because of the larger dial possible with no dive bezel in the way, a 42mm field watch with tritium and oyster bracelet would be the holy grail for me. The fat markers on that Epoch look especially interesting, in fact the hands and markers look just like the ones used by Deep Blue. That ProTek- for a utilitarian watch intended for function the hands should all be painted white. In some of your photos the hands are not very visible. I agree though- it's priced too high for what you get. I've seen Carnival field watches on Amazon, with tritium, but I haven't gotten brave enough to buy one.

4:20 is the second hand misaligned? It seems that it is. One of those things that once you notice it then it would be really annoying.

Great overall watch and love me glowie tubes but the multi-colour just doesn't work for me.

I was an American EMT-P, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic. I got wet plenty. I also SCUBA dive. I went to their website. The diver watches are about the same price as this. I guess all the money is in the Tritium. Whatever Tritium watch I buy it needs to be T-100.

ProTek...Little close to Pro Trek do we not think? Pretty cool glow stick watch though!

40-20 dimensions, quartz, titanium, sapphire, and tritium. Looks like this could be a one and done watch for a lot of people.

Hi, Mr. Obvious here, but Marathon, please. Have had the resin case quartz Navigator for a year now, and still like the look and the lume. Less bright than Lumibrite - for about 10 minutes after the lights go out, but then the tables turn. After an hour, no contest. Only fault is no tube on the second hand. But the resin case is lighter than titanium, durable as G-Shock, and about $100 less than the ProTek. Less still when on sale (hint, hint). No, not on their payroll.

I did look at a 34mm a while back. Maybe I will need to have another look at their range. Cheers!

I think the Navigator is the 34mm with a second time zone bezel added. A bit more 'presence', maybe. And now there's a steel version - for a few pennies more.@@JustOneMoreWatch
